  1. Edit: Happened in Guildford West. Bad luck mate. Hope it works out with the insurance. Charlie.
  2. I hope to be at the next drag day in the GTR
  3. I don't think that that is the solution. What is wrong with two different people expressing both their ideas and views on a certain subject? No one is trying to prove who is better than who, and I doubt that a boxing ring will prove anything apart from punching ability (or lack thereof ). I don't mind intelligent debate that benefits everyone as there are always different methods that can be taken to achieve a certain goal. Keep things civil and on topic and we can all learn from it. I do, however, think that a 1/4 mile drag battle will be a good spectacle
  4. Exactly, Morgs No one will be able to wipe the smile off my face once the GTR hits the road
  5. mate, I picked up my 89 GTR 3 weeks ago from bond starage after having it sit in Japan for 10 months awaiting shipment/import approval. Then it gets to Brisbane and is stuck in customs storage for another 6 months (with daily storage fees accruing). This was due to the fact that the day after I paid (cash deposit into account) the broker all the customs/GST/fees my importer gets a letter saying that the broker has gone under. So, over 6 months later, I bite the bullet and repay all the customs/GST/fees again as well as the substantial storage fee. I finally pic up the car from Sydney bond staorage to find that it has been damaged and had the AFM's, intake piping, PFC ecu, fuel pumps etc stolen from it. The day after I picked it up I broke up with my fiance. Anyone want to put things into perspective for me?
  6. Anyone know where to source either copy or genuine R32 N1 bumper ducts? I need to replace my damaged ones:
  7. or in sydney-talk, a pink or blue slip
  8. The car is in Japan And I wouldn't pay more than $24,200 for it landed :D:D
  9. If they can engineer and register turbo conversions in dattos, I don't see how a big single on a TT RB26 in a GTR is a problem.
  10. So that they can do a few dnuts in it an Enfield... bro!
  11. Where did you get the nismo spoiler from? Mine was damaged during shipping and I need to replace it.
  12. Saw a blue R34 NUR at Fowles damaged car auctions car park in Moorebank (Sydney) on Tuesday, plates were... NUR
  13. wreckedhead, what size tyres and what width wheels? Offset?
  14. I thought blue slips were for 30 days? maybe I'm getting old The interim label lasts for 30 days, but the time between the booking and the actual pit inspection is normally well within 30 days. When you take the blue slip to register the vehicle and the only available pit inspection appointment is more than 5 days, then they grant you registeration for the car (pending pit inspection clearance). Once you get that, then your registration stands. If you don't pass, then the registration either gets cancelled or you have a certain period (7 days?) to have the car reinspected. This is all from memory, so please double check (and correct me if I am wrong). I will find out soon enough though when its time to take my car for rego. I can't wait to see the look on the pit inspectors face! :D:D
  15. Hey all, I had a look at a Japanese drag records page and in three classes, 4 out of the top 7 had used the TRUST box and 3 had used the HKS, with times ranging from 9.2 to 10.5. The second category saw 4/8 each, with the 3rd class having 2 each. The rest of the (lower) top 10 were using OS gearsets. Not having any experience with either of these boxes, I would like to know people's opinions on both these boxes in a drag racing application. H-pattern v sequential? Anyone had first hand experience? Pros v Cons? Maintenance costs? Other alternatives?
  16. Excellent news, Steve I wonder if we could somehome bypass the need for a cat? Otherwise, I need to find a 4" cat. Anyone?
  17. I know, I think my mind is set on 9's But can just run it on low boost for easy 10's I agree with BU5TER, and that was the underlying point I was making. One time wonder or long time contender? Butler, could you please let me know any info you have regarding the Apexi cranks/stroker kits as I can't seem to find any info on them. TIA. Charlie
  18. Sewid, remember that recurring theme of patience? It will be worth the wait mate. Richard, I haven't been in anything but my mate's boosted and untuned PFC'd R32 (we drove to the Gold Coast the day it was finished!), and I absolutely loved it. It was even more fun without the 4wd fuse I can't wait to get mine on the road. But it will be a while until its sorted, hopefully before Christmas. Charlie.
  19. I'm getting it done an Envy Imports in Brookvale. I can't comment on price or service because I am biased. They did the importing, compliancing and arranged the engineering, and will be taking care of most things to do with the car. I just paid the 3rd party costs (customs etc) and any parts that it needs. Charlie.
  20. I am lucky in that my car was complied and engineered (with all the mods) within one week. For the record, compliancing involved affixing a new VIN number (just like under SEVS), ULP fuel filler neck, intrusion bars and anchorage points (heh, not that this car will ever need them). When it is all up and running, it will be ready to get a blue slip and registration. Then I will start on the detailing and cosmetics. I also think that my car was forked a bit as one of the downpipes has been flattened.
  21. That would work But I wouldn't be content with that. I would want to run the numbers a few times and would like to improve them - not just run it once. I would also rather go for a twin turbo set up, even though most would say that a big single is cheaper, easier, etc. My mods would be: - twin HKS 2835 turbo kit - forged internals - stroked bottom end (2.7-3.1L) - MoTeC or Autronic ECU - appropriate head work, 280° cams, adj. cam gears etc - custom plenum, Infinity throttle body, 800cc+ injectors - twin Bosch pumps, lift pump, surge tank - drag spec cooler - 6 speed dog box That's just off the top of my head.
  22. I know, it's plenty of mods
