2003 V35 Sedan Gt-8 Trans Issues
andy65b replied to Nightcrawler's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
+1 for the relearn, Throttle position, Idle Air learning etc. When the car was at the smash repair, was the battery disconnected? Sounds like the car may have lost the base setting for when it is cold and needs to re learn all the settings. My guess anyway. -
Never Buy Parts From Nissan Direct!
andy65b replied to T88turbo's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I am pretty sure that the ECU has a constant power source and I am pretty sure there would be a few things being powered from there. -
Hi Dan Yes, it is the GT30 roller bearing turbo.
-
Don't forget Cam, for an extra $15 you can make your own Power Duct with not hot air from the motor getting in. Looks good what you have done.

Sorry, can't agree with your love of them. I don't have all the headaches on maintaining a cat but I still get all the scratch marks, shit and all the downside of my neighbours fur ball. I am sure they are nice for the owners, just I choose not to own one but have to put up with all their crap. I am sure you would feel the same way if I sent my children around to your place each day to go to the toilet in your yard, sleep on your car and leave muddy foot prints up the bonnet (along with the dents they would make LOL). There, my rant over.

They are not too bad, they are only reading 1.3% too fast.

Hi Scott I came across this info today about the rocker cover seals leaking into the spark plug wells. Thought this sounded like your problem. http://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v35-...arranty-up.html Cheers Andy

It is definatley different. I have tested the Blatz gear on the M35 and it does not work. Whilst the V35 is a JDM car, the same car was exported as an Infinity G35 to the US so you would have ti imagine that if all the G35 for the US are going to be ODB2 compliant they would use the same system in the JDM cars rather than creating a new platform just for this car. 2003 350gt Coupe Starting Problem
andy65b replied to T88turbo's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Why don't you just do the procedure documented earlier in this thread. Idle air learning, throttle position etc. It is really east to do and if all other things on the car are ok the car will set the idle at 650rpm (+-50). If idle is not set between 600-700 the ECU will not memorize the idle setting and idle will be moving around. I had a faulty PCV valve and this stopped the idle being set correctly. Good luck and save your self $100 for better mods. -
Cleaned Throttle Body, Now Revs High
andy65b replied to Pete82's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Dammnnn, Well at least we know who has a spare one for sale if anyone stuffs theirs up. -
Have a look at this thread on a highflowed tubro. (yes, metal impeller and in this upgrade ball bearing also) http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Tu...me-t280687.html

Stupid $50, PCV valve can stuff up the running of a car so much and stupid Nissan mechanics tell you that there is nothing wrong when the car idles at 800rpm instead of 650rpm as the sticker under the bonnet specifies. Thank god for a helpful dealer and another forum member who had a similar problem who helped me work it out.

As Scott said; standard boost is up to 15psi. My boost level did not change at all when I changed to a 3 inch exhaust. It seems most of the turbo's are failing for 2 reasons. 1) where there are 2 cats installed at compliance. This is said to put too much back pressure on the turbo. 2) quality of oil/oil change frequency. The second common failure is coming from the shaft starting to bind at the bearing and this seems to destroy the exhaust turbine. The best up grade seems to be high flowing the standard turbo as this allows the max boost to be held up to the redline. Cheers Andy

Looks god Danny. Can't wait to hear how it goes. Cheers Andy

Cleaned Throttle Body, Now Revs High
andy65b replied to Pete82's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I changed the PCV valve today and now the idle will reset perfectly. Luv it. -
I don't think there is any easy adjustment of the speedo. It may be possible using an aftermarket speedo adjuster.
-
I tried this one on my car and it sees the RPM and can turn cylinders on and off to test them but beyond that it does no more. This system works perfectly on the v35 but as this car was sold as an Infinity in the US I am sure this is why it was designed to be OBD2 compliant. Our car was never sold outside Japan so this is why the porblem.

Check when Chris Rogers is coming to Melbourne. I am pretty sure his scan tool will work on the M35 and I thought he may be doing a trip to Melbourne soon.
-
I don't know the ConZult one but I have tried the scantech2 (I think it was) and no good either.
-
FAIL, None of these work with the M35. Wish they did.

From the reading I have done Japan does not seem to have committed to following the standard ODB protocols for cars only bound for the JDM. I think this is why they do this, perhaps it has been to try to keep some of the servicing business for their Nissan dealers or my second theory on this odd pin arrangement is that it relates to the ECU. We have already worked out that the ECU in the M35 with VQ25DET is a bit of a rare/odd ECU and not common.

Help My Understand The Exhaust System :p
andy65b replied to Midol's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I couldn't find any exhaust kits for the M35 on Jast Jap but give them a call if you want one from Japan, I am sure they could source one for you. There are now a few good exhaust shops in Sydney (not sure where you live) that can build you a custom exhaust to your specifications. I used Charleston Exhaust in Blacktown as he has now done 5 M35's which in Australia makes him almost an expert on the car. (or as close as you can be) There are also 3 exhaust shops in Sydney working on dump pipes and these should be available very soon. I decided to buy local as you then have local help if you are to have any problems and I could not see any evidence that the Japanese systems would have any benefit over a local unit and cost with the yen was cheaper. Cheers Andy -
I think I bought the same one off ebay and same result. I also tried the Blatz cable on my car and it does not work correctly either. I have been told that the it is OBD2 and the protocol is KWP2000 but most ones you can find will not work because the logic of KWP2000 is not followed right through the system. You will have seen that in the pin locations. The Auto Electricians with the really expensive ($$5-10k) scanners will be able to reset things for you. There is a cable and software under development but is is not ready yet. When I know more about this I will let you all know. Cheers Andy

Buying A 2002 Stagea M35 Rsfour Or Not .....
andy65b replied to jxanon's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
High flow the turbo so you can hold 15psi to red line. This will give the most noticeable gain as the stock turbo is unable to hold peak boost at higher revs. 191kw ATW sounds very high for just an exhaust. Most cars have been around 145kw ATW in stock form and I would not think you would gain any more than 10kw with an exhaust only. I guess it is all relative to the dyno that it is measured on. Cheers Andy -
That is not the issue. The car need to pass the emissions test relevant to the year of manufacture and on these your are talking 2003 and on. This means their test is harder to pass (Higher emission standard) and their needs to be enough demand for a compliance shop to spend $26'000 to do the test and hopefully pass. If the car fails each subsequent test is another $26k. Ben at North Shore Prestige is working on compliance for this model. Cheers Andy
