I agree, the longer it takes the less it is worth to any one interested. That is why I have not quoted a price because I have still to negotiate this with him. He is aware that the cost will come down the longer it takes. I hope weeks but he advised me last night that in his testing he has found some issues with the security that he wants to resolve first. Cheers Andy

Problem With Spinning Rear Wheels
andy65b replied to RSVFOURUK's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Good news, Now the fun begins or was it more fun with only rears spinning. LOL -
sorry, no idea. What are you getting tuned? What piggyback have you got on the car?

Thanks for the positive comments. Yes, it is taking a long time but I don't see you or anyone else in the World offering any other alternative that is remotely affordable. Personally I am happy that some one on the other side of the World is prepared to produce a product that will help those that are interested. Honestly I don't care if people want it or not. I am doing this to help the people who are interested. I agree that the longer this takes the less people will want to buy it or feel the need for it as they are used to the screens. I can not change the time it is taking. If you have another/better solution go on and post it. Cheers Andy

M35 Still Stalling - Not Idling Properly
andy65b replied to pixel8r's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
For the M35 guys who have not seen my posts in the V35 section. I have found yesterday that the PCV on my car may be faulty. It is not meant to be be leaking any air back into the manifold at idle but mine is. It seems that my earlier stalling problem and now my high idle may all be related to this faulty part. I have ordered the new part and will also remove the current one and try to clean it. I have attached a photo of the location along with an the technical information for the G35. Cheers Andy -
Buy the cheap ones. Our cars have so much grip that it is much more fun on a tire which you can slide occasionally... LOL

I was saying get out of the way...... ARX coming through..... LOL I have now actually seen your car out side a meet now.

Yes, I want to clean mine at least to see if it improves things before the new one goes on. How is that garage looking? -

Have you got the G35 manual. In that it shows that there are 2 hoses that come from the motor for blow by. 1) before the throttle body as you have shown and 2) after the throttle body into the manifold and this is the one I am referring to and has the PCV. I have attached the diagram and info from the manual. You will see the PCV is on the right bank of the motor (left bank on this diagram). If the one I have pointed out is not it then it is another one some where near it. Cheers Andy -

That's a silly question...... because he thinks he is driving a sports car and we all know sports cars only have 2 seats and no practical boot. -

On the M35 the PCV returns to the manifold after the butterfly so this could have some effect on the idle. I have attached a picture of my engine bay with the 2 ends of the pipe from the PCV marked with a red arrow. I did some reading this afternoon through my good friend Google and one of the common problems of faulty PCV's is idling problems. I have also attached a photo of a V35 engine (thanks BLISTC) and I have put in a pointer at the PCV hose where it attaches to the manifold. After the butterfly. I can not see where it comes of the engine but I would think it would be in a similar position to mine. There is some basic logic to this but it is hard to explain briefly. All I can say is that I have ruled out any electrical fault and as no trouble codes are being shown the fault has to be some thing mechanical that is not monitored. Another sign of the PCV being faulty is oil leaks. I know I am starting to get some oil seam on some gaskets. Cheers Andy -

"The PCV valve is a spring-loaded valve with a specific orifice size designed to restrict the amount of air that's siphoned from the crankcase into the intake manifold. This is necessary because air drawn through the valve from the crankcase has a leaning effect on the fuel mixture much the same as a vacuum leak. So air flow through the valve must be controlled within certain limits. At idle, air flow is reduced because little blowby is produced. When the engine is cruising and vacuum is high, airflow through the PCV valve is at a maximum to purge the blowby vapors from the crankcase." The more I read on this the more I think it is the cause. I have also read about it causing rattling noise in the engine and I have that. -

OK UPDATE I have just been down and NorthShore Prestige have a further look at the problem and exploring solutions. The adjustment screw is FAIL. It will not move so no hope of checking it. I have thought this through further and now I do not think it is anything to do with the throttle body, except that by cleaning it I changed the volume of air that gets past at idle. We pulled off the hose that comes from the PCV valve on the right bank in to the manifold. * If this is blocked off the idle is lower. * When the motor is revved a couple of times, when the car comes back to idle a hissing noise can be heard from this pipe. (it is not leaking, pipe has been replace and checked for leaks). * This suggests that the one way valve in the PCV is not shutting off at low RPM as it should. I have had 2 problems that I thought were unrelated. 1. when pulling up fast (hard braking) idle would dip and sometimes stall. I then had the TB cleaned and the TPS / Idle volume reset. 2. The car now can have the idle set correctly by the set out procedure. Go for a drive and the idle creeps back up. Whilst I first thought these were unrelated I now realize that the dirty throttle body was creating the dipping idle and covering the leaking PCV valve. Fixed the TB (cleaned) and the volume of air getting through is now higher and add to that the air from the leaking PCV valve and I think this is leading to the higher idle. As I said earlier, I can set it correctly and then it sticks open and idle increases. This sort of explains why no ECU faults are showing. I have ordered the new PCV. Got to come from Japan so about 7-10 days I will know some more. Fingers and legs crossed now this is right. Cheers Andy PS. Ben also said that the PCV is replaced on a lot of V35's -

They may be diesel but still not very economical. They use about 12L/100km in metro. You should be able to get this for closer to $15000. Lots of different options with these. They are based on the Pajero and share lots of parts. The only bad point is.........it is a Mitsubishi (Mitsushitty) Cheers Andy -

My mechanic cleaned mine when this happen so I don't really know what was done but this is starting to make a lot more sense. I am hoping (please, please, please) that the adjustment screw on the top will help resolve this problem. Enquiries are being made. Cheers Andy -

Tried and FAILED. Reset ECU (battery disconnected and brake pumped), drove 10 mins to warm up. Reset TPS, Throttle body and Idle volume learning. Idled at 725rpm. Drove 50 minutes to work, idle now at 800 rpm. Turned car off, restarted, idle still at 800 rpm. Got to be that adjustment screw. -

No, I haven't reset the ECU, but I have done a 20 minute drive after setting the idle speed through the idle learning procedure. I am not 100% sure how to reset the ECU on the M35. I have seen that on the C34 people have said to disconnect the battery, pump the brake to remove residual power and then reconnect battery. Can any one confirm if this is correct? -

No, I haven't changed my plugs yet. That is coming very soon. I have been out in the cold tonight remounting the throttle body as I realized we had the gasket in the wrong way. We had one of the tabs pointing up and apparently the one side without a tab is the top. I am thinking more along the lines that some how the base setting is out and I suspect the adjustment screw that is fairly firmly fixed is the way of fixing it. Will talk to North Shore Prestige tomorrow along these lines. Cheers Andy -

When I took mine to Nissan they were no help, they said the idle should be 800 even though there is a sticker on the bonnet showing it should be 650 +- 50. I have been trying all sorts of idea's but it is good to know that it relates to the throttle body cleaning. I will keep serching and let you know what i find out. Cheers Andy -

I feel some sanity. I thought I have been going insane for the last few months with exactly the same problem. When I had my throttle body cleaned is the same time this problem started for me. So it sounds like it is some thing to do with the position of the butterfly in the throttle body. It sounds like the adjustment of the butterfly is changed slightly during the cleaning process. It was suggested to me that the screw on the top of the throttle body can be adjusted to alter idle. I want to some reading on this before I change mine and also mine would not move. I have read in other threads about the calibration be out if the butterfly is moved by hand. But thank you, at least I now know I need to focus on the throttle body to fix this problem. Cheers Andy
