  1. I can't tell you the actual specs but this is the information I have gatered so far from a number of sources. the turbo housing and flange are unique. the turbo is ceramic. Standard boost is meant to be 0.8bar(11psi), however I see 15psi under full acceleration droping back to about 12-13psi. Others are also seeing similar levels or more. The turbo has been described as being bult for the job although not the most efficint turbo. Hope this helps. Cheers Andy
  2. It may have the guards of a wanabe 4WD but it is NOW too low to be picked for that. As Jetwreck said to me one day, they will hit my plastic guards first and F$%k their paint....... No, I go straight up Lane Cove rd to the Northern beaches.
  3. That would have been me........
  4. fuel consumption is about 7.3km/l city (Sydney hilly) driving & 10km/l on the highway.
  5. all of it..............the standard ARX wheel needs about 20-25mm extra clearance off the caliper. Cheers Andy
  6. The hole is the floor vents for the rear seats when you put your aircon ducts to the floor mode. I don't know what the plug is for but you can bet it is for one of many factory opions that are fitted under that seat. Could be CD stacker, heated seats or many other option. Sorry I can not be more specific.
  7. Hi Warren, The VQ25DET has a "very" unique flange on the manifold for the turbo. It has been described to me by people who work with high flowing turbo's as the first time they had seen that flange and turbo housing. Cheers Andy
  8. how is the fuel economy since the hiflow? Time to turn that boost up a bit............
  9. and you thought I was crazy when I said I got 14-15psi on the boost gauge................. I am told that standard is 0.8bar (11psi). I think that is what they taper to but they definatley have a big boost in the mid range where they see 14-15psi.
  10. Hi Matt I found the part number for you, H4906-AQ000-. When you find out the cost would you mind letting me know? I have a Clark Rubber mat in my boot which is pretty cheap but very heavy. Cheers Andy
  11. Some of the info is from this forum and some is from Ben at NorthShore Presige Motors. I have a Speco (Repco) branded boost gauge. I can not vouch for the accuracy but it did seem like a well made kit with quality fittings. It was certainly budget $45. It starts tbuilding boost around 2250 RPM but I am not sure where the peak is. I would say around 3200 rpm and then it tapers back to 14 and then settles bact to about 12 to readline from what I have seen. I have it under the dash so it is the not the best spot to watch carefully whilst driving hard. Wpuld be nice to have more boost lower in the reve range. They are a big car to get off the line.
  12. I have got some more info on the turbo. It is definatley ceramic but is unique to the M35. I have heard that the flange and and housing is quite unique. The internals of the turbo are not anything special and not the most efficient I am led to believe but built to a purpose. I am told that the stock boost is menat to be 0.8bar (11.2psi). So the boost I am seeing I would say is stock and just a small varience within the standard set up. It does beg the question how much more boost can these turbo's handle?
  13. You can get the right TV tuner for about $300 from chook on this forum. there are many other functions on the menu's but as my Japanese is non existent I do not know what they all are. There will be a language conversion available around September. All will be revealed when the menu's are in english. Cheers Andy
  14. I looked up the part numbers for the 2 belts on my M35. I don't think they will vary. They are: Main belt: AY140-61175 Aux belt: AY14N-4094E Cheers Andy
  15. I don't think we will loose her dulcet tones........ what are you doing that she talks to you? LOL. The only time she talks to me is when i try to run out of fuel i the quest to fill up on Tuesday.
  16. I spoke to Ben at North Shore Prestige Motors today and he said standard boost is 0.8bar (11.6 psi). I am getting 14psi (0.965bar) at max throttle. (with an absolute peak of 15psi) He also said the turbo is quite unique and nit eaisly replaced. I ame getting some more details later this week. He did say that the turbo is quite different to the turbo on the older stagea's. Cheers Andy
  17. Give Ben a call. I just spoke to him and he believes it is possible but he needs a car and will take about 6 months to complete. Cheers Andy
  18. It also says in the SEV's list that M35 with the 2.5 turbo are approved from 2001 - current. However the ADR's changed in late 2003 and this has stopped (todate) anyone successfully complying a 2004 or later M35 with the 2.5 turbo motor. I would search out the thread on the problems other members have had with importers/compliance workshops (don't know who was to blame) that have promised cars can be complied only to have the cars sitting in workshops for 12 months and no car to drive. If you are prepared to take the risk and cost involved in getting the first car approved I wish you luck. Personally unless I could see a complied car with Australian rego I would not take the risk. If it is so easy to get complied why are there none in the car yards of the importers? I would suggest you give Ben a call at NorthShore Prestige Motors. He is one of the compliance work shops that does the M35 turbo cars and has around 3 at all times in his car yard. If it is possible, he would have a good idea about it. Good luck in your desission. Cheers Andy
  19. I just fitted a new boost gauge on the weekend and and the boost on full throttle goes to 15psi and backs to 14psi. I am not the only M35 driver that is seeing these boost numbers. I am trying to get some accurate details on the turbo but at the moment the inforation is very sketchy. It has certainly been suggested that the turbo is ceramic and should not be boosted past 12psi but I am not confident this information is correct. I have posted the part number for the turbo in another thread if someone can get some more information. I see no reason why the boost numbers I am getting, 15psi, would be wrong especially given the same numbers are being seen on other cars. The front and rear track of the AR-X is wider, I think about 30mm overall. When the AR-X is lowered there are no other changes required, the front camber went to about -1.3 and the rear about -0.9. All within normal tolerances. I have also fitted stiffer sway bars which have really helped the handeling along with the improved shocks. The standard are just too soft. I have read that the arches are similar but are not the same. They apparently will not fit with the front bar of the Axis. Cheers Andy
  20. Hi Ben 1) The cruise control is not that common from the factory cars. You can have cruise added locally with a fitting that looks factory fitted. Cost about $800. 2) Fuel consumption is about 7.5km/L City and 10km/L highway. Some people say they are getting better economy in the city but not sure how they achieve better results. (read I don't drive hard all day) 3) Don't know the exact times but I believe it is around 6.5s to 100km/h. The power is 206kw and 406nm @3200 rpm. The weight of the car is the achilies heal as it is about 1700kg. Standard boost is 14psi. A 3 inch exhaust from the cat back seems to liven the engine up a bit more. 4) Standard brakes are single piston front and rear and with standard pads are not that great. I put Hawke HPS pads in and they are much better and I know some have used Nismo pads with good results. They can be upgraded using R32 GTR calipers and rotors and this brings a really good result and a reasonable cost. One thing to bear in mind is that the AR-X is the only model that cam standard with LSD in the rear and HICAS. Axis is similar but misses these goodies. You can get Bilstein shocks and springs that lower the AR-X by about 40mm. The boot is huge in these cars and you would fit 4 sets of golf clubs in the boot. They are a very different car to the V35 but a lot of fun for a wagon. Cheers Andy
  21. not sure what is going on with these boost numbers. Mine is absolutley stock and is definatley hitting 15-14psi. So why are they telling you 8psi? We definatley need more info on the turbo's!
  22. The fuel economy is an interesting discussion. I get around 7.2-7.5 km/l on city (sydney) driving and around 10km/l on highway. Most M35 drivers I have spoken to get similar but there are also some M35 drivers getting in the 9km/l or better in their daily driving. Wish I knew how they get it? Cheers Andy
  23. I can't comment on the 3.5 N/A motor but the 2.5 turbo has 406nm of torque at 3200 rpm so the motor is very easy to drive with out reving it to the red line. The only problem you have is even if you like the M35 with the 3.5 N/A I don't think even the pre 2004 models can be complied. The only motor in the M35 that has been complied is the 2.5 turbo. Cheers Andy
  24. I just fitted a boost gauge to a stock standard ARX and the boost maxed out at 15psi and settles back to 14 psi under full load. I think we need to find out what our turbo's of made of because if they are the same ceramic turbo as used in the older model stagea with the NEO motor the turbo may not last that long. The part number for the the turbo fitted to my car is. 14411-AQ800-. Any one know how to find out what sort of turbo this is and what/ how it is built? Cheers Andy
  25. Hi John I am not driving a V35 but a M35. Unfortunately Sydney sucks for insurance. I thought it was my suburb (which is a very nice inner west area) but I was told by the an insurance company that if I wanted cheaper insurance move to another state! I started with Just Cars at $1800 for the M35 insured at $30k. Excess was $1600 and I am over 40 with a great driving record. I changed to Lumleys a couple of months ago because the rate was not much cheaper but excess was about $400, they do not need every driver nominated and I can pay my annual insurance in quarterly payments with no premium. Cheers Andy
