  6. note "modification to exhaust" in original post, is basically stating that the stock dump pipe will not bolt directly up, it will however bolt straight up to the manifold no worries

Turbo comes with Oil drain, fitting for oil feed, internal gate. Will directly bolt up to to stock manifold on a rb20 or 25, great upgrade, with only a slight exhaust modification. These turbos retail for around $850, my loss is your gain. Have seen the same turbo make 230kw atw on 16 psi on an RB25.

  9. lag = fine, as long as it makes the power at some revs i dont mind, 3071r is looking the goods. Cams be a good investment if i was going to run a turbo like that?

  11. Noticed the other day when i was playing around with monitor settings on my SAFCII that at idle, it is reading 10-15 on the knock sensor, but as soon as i give it any throttle, it goes back to zero. Should i be worried about this? Cheers,
  12. Yeah from the response i've been getting, as im only looking for 220-250 kw, be better to keep rb20 and work that. no point spending all that cash to throw a 25 in and only look to get 250 out of it... thanks for the responses guys
  13. Horsepowerinabox.com have just brought out a GT2871 with t3 flange and rb20/rb25 six bolt dump pipe flange, for a direct bolt on fit, which is the turbo im looking at, bit exe tho at $1850...

  15. Hey guys, Just after a bit of advice for a turbo upgrade on an rb20. Looking at either a KKR 430 or Garrett 2871. I know the KKR is about half the price of the 2871, just wondering if it would be worth spending the extra on the 2871. Will have the normal mods, 550cc injectors, 040 pump, front mount, full 3" zorst, PFC or similar, intake, etc. Just after a bit of advice on what to do. Cheers
  16. I've talked to a a mechanic who has done the conversion before, and he reckons its easier to use the rb20 loom and just wire in the few extra things, vct ect. is that true?
  17. Yeah thats my other option, but i've just had a lot of people say that you can waste a lot of money trying to get good power out of an rb20... Definetly looking at going with an rb25 box, do you need to mod the tail shaft to fit it in?
  18. i had the exact same thing happen in my old S13, was a crack in the manifold, would only do it at high revs, when the engine and turbo were hot as, forcing the crack to widden enough to let air out... check the welds in youe manifold, its a possibility it could be cracked, sounds very similar to the problem i had.
  19. I think the dyno results will leave you a bit dissapointed... I recently had mine tuned, SAFC II, front mount, full 3" exhaust, jjr split dump and decat, turbosmart boost controller, rb25 turbo, walbro pump, nismo 550cc injectors, running 12psi, just hit 170kw atw... good compression on all cylinders... RB20's are pretty limited, thats why im about to throw a rb25 in mine... thats what i have had a lot off people reccomend to me...
