  1. got her back and got her running as sweetly as i could without getting it tuned. will be soon though. has a few bugs though, think the gearbox might be on it's way out. getting that checked out next week. minor exhaust leak, and a surge problem when hitting full boost but obviously i'm not doing that much till it's tuned and all set. apart from that it's fun as f*** to drive!!! torquey and sideways it's just as i'd planned and hoped it would be haha! the gearbox is a bit noisey, very noisey actually. sounds like something is loose, but.. yeah haha. also hard to get into reverse and sometimes first. anyone else with an rb20 box experienced anything similar? maybe the clutch needs to be bled again?? i'll post pics up soon, and maybe a little vid on youtube or something!
  2. spotted a silver gtst, rim exhaust typical mods, on ginninderra drive bout 4 today. drove past gave a wave got a smile back from the chicky behind the wheel
  3. hey all wondering if anyone has spare rb20 coil packs? fair sure mine are rooted and fair upset after all this work and time.. and mooonnneyyyy. i won't be online for the next two days, so if anyone could help out here's my number: 0404 903 872 cheers.
  4. just thought i'd post up a pic of my girl most likely have it back wednesday. i'll post more pics once it's home and clean. can't wait!
  5. haha don't sweat it actually ended up saving money. the custom pipes i would've needed to suit the stock plenum would have cost about $200-$300. this new custom plenum will be about another $100 maybe $200 is there a difference in the throttle bodies? haha didn't even notice
  6. had this problem when i installed a bosch 040 fuel pump. around 3000RPM it'd splutter n surge. not always, but every now and then. check the pressure just to be sure.
  7. turns out the plenum didn't fit anyway hahaha BUT danny (performance garage) is taking the throttle body off it and attaching it to my original plenum, essentially the same thing but to fit my RB20 i will eventually get an aftermarket ecu (thinking GReddy Emanage or Haltech. Anyone had experience with one of them?) spoke with danny and it should be fine till then. not going to be driven much in the meantime anyway. depends. if you're looking at mods that are value for money there's no point as there are other modifications that will give you more power. yes you'll get more torque i'm just setting the base down as i have plans for the engine later. plus i HATE the stock RB20 inlet plenum setup (**waits for fans to start lighting torches and grabing pitchforks** )
  8. i'm not chasing big numbers at the moment, and if i was i'd certainly have an aftermarket ecu here's a pic of the plenum any thoughts?
  9. give newgel a call. everone i've spoken to who has had work done there came out quite happy
  10. hey everyone spoken to a few people about installing a custom inlet plenum (thanks to bullet32 for the manifold! ) on an rb20 with a stock ecu. half the folks said, "it will lean out your rear cylinder. make sure you've got an aftermarket computer" the other half, "shouldn't make a difference. air pressure is air pressure" if i did have an engine management system that allowed to tune individual cylinders, it'd want to be a pretty nuts engine then yes? and isn't air pressure always going to be air pressure? cheers.
  11. bahahaha! yeah probabaly it does get a bit old after you've walked around once or twice, and there are no driving events. still good to check out some sweet cars and babes :PBJ: they never used to charge "competitors", but this year it's about $120. we're in the process of working something out with them though.. last i heard anyway. not sure on public entry prices. should be a website somewhere...
  12. bahahahahahaha!!! pretty sure you can seperate the two peices, then you can be like a ninja
  13. i've entered my car. heading up with about... 6-10 other cars from ACT. if anyone wants to roll up to sydney with us feel free CONVOY!
  14. this thread is seeming more and more helpful never really put much thought into theft protection, DEFINATELY will now!
  15. THIS should solve everything ---> and this if monkeys arne't your thing --->
  16. ...i'm not a girl but i could dress up for you? haha still available?
  17. haha yeah datto, exactically what frink said personally i've always seen the rb20 as an underrated motor. it has a lot of potential. from my experiences the SR has been less torquey. but anyway, i see it has the potential to gain higher power than an SR, with fewer mods and cheaper budget, also one in good nick and set up well sounds evil!! haha in the end all i'm after is a clean setup. both inside and out. might take you up on that two 235 17" street tyres? price?? went and dropped off the new thermostat today. should be on the road no later than thursday i'd say ...anyone keen for a cruise friday??
  18. spotted white skyline plates "aj 86" in civic the other night with a red supra tagging. both very clean cars.
  19. Hey all just posting some pics and stats about where my car is at 180sx with an RB20 conversion ^^^^ this is her before. CA18, Apexi Power FC, manual conversion, GT3037r, Tial 48?mm external wastegate, 700cc SARD injectors, custom manifold, FMIC, 040 in tank, half inch fuel feed, pres. reg, custom 3" down pipe and front pipe in one into a 2.5" exhaust straight through, front strut brace, oil catch can, Exedy heavy duty cusion brass button clutch, screamer pipe my first ever car project. ^^^^ this is her with the CA out getting prepped to have the RB dropped in. ^^^^ RB20 sitting at Dannys on his floor, waiting to be put in. Looks clean. Has done 5X,XXXKMs ^^^^ GT3037r sitting atop a Hybrid custom exhaust manifold and sporting the sweet ass Tial 48?mm external wastegate ^^^^ RB sitting in the engine bay with the GT3037r. fits perfectly. i'm so stoked ^^^^ ...Trying to be creative, camera phones. For the moment it'll remain stock, cept for the turbo (going to run low boost) and i'll need 3" cat back piping - got 2.5" atm, get enough cash for a computer. Then the custom inlet plenum will go on (thanks Mick!), and hopefully a set of 700cc or 800cc injectors - to set the long term level. Then a tune, and possibly some larger cams also getting a VL radiator put in now. Going to spray it, either myself or get a pro, Mat red. (any thoughts on the colour? the rims have a white insert. posted a pic just below) work meisters on hold, 17", should hold nicely, depending on the rubber i've got i guess ^^^^ Work Meister SP1 2P 17" 225s front 235s rear i think, not to informed on tyre/wheel specs some window tint and we're laughing haha ^^^^ here's a pic of my car btw. Anyone good at photoshop? Mat red with the Work Meister wheels??? hope to have it all done around the new year, bit after maybe hopefully at least sprayed and slammed before autosalon cheers. i'll post more up when she's out and ripping! wednesday at the latest i'd say
  20. a few of my mates took their cars there and weren't very happy with the results. One was for a tune and the other a ground-up re-build that never got finished, over 8 and counting months... met glen a few times and he's a top bloke. personally never had any dramas with them, not that i've ever taken my car there though
  21. Cheers for the warm welcome The car is still in the shop, should be driveable by the end of next week Not sure if i can make the dyno day, but we'll see. Met a few of you on various cruises through nissansilvia.com and modified nissan. good times haha RBONEVIA has a onevia, with an rb20. a 180 front end with a silvia rear end The CA had its run. Got it to squeeze out the most it could, then had a bit of a thinking session and decided 6 cylinder 2 liter was the way to go I've still got the CA if anyone is or knows anyone who'd be interested?? anyone know where i can get an inlet plenum from, that won't cost alot of money? hehe HAHAHA damn right! it went through alot of modification after that GREAT day, so it ended up pulling alot more. bigger turbo, custom piping, injectors, fuel pump, computer ect. but yes, the RB will be a bit more powerful haha guess i should post some specs. 180sx stock RB20 internals GT30/37R custom manifold custom 3" dump/front pipe 3" straight through exhaust half inch fuel feed line walbro 040 fuel pump fuel pressure regulator the later on mods: custom inlet plenum 700cc injectors Microtech. or Power FC D-Jetro if i can find one 17" Work Meister S1 2P on the way pics will be up soon
