OZ GTR35 replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Here is a real tyre comparison, Same car, same track, same driver. (I know some smart a$$ will make some crack about the driver, so I will get in first, yes I know the driver is crap!) R34 GTR. No Doubt Abo does a fantastic job in that car, it has good suspension, good tyres and there is only about 5-10meters difference between us down the straight. Last time we were at wakefild Abo was faster then me by the same amount -

Check out the SAu auction, I bid $100 for an oil change providing you do it! In a skirt! Please respond to that post -
Should be fine, I ran 240's on the R34 GTR rims on Sat, which were 9 or 9.5.

Event_Booking_Form_.pdfAll, As per below, following on from the SAU drive day we have another chance to do a Track day at OP Grand prix cct. These Aaron McGill track days are by far the best track day you ever get to do. All you need is a helmet, non flammable long sleeve top and bottoms and a drivers licence. There is no need to be club members or apply for a L2S, you just turn up and drive. I know it’s a Monday and you will have to call in sick or take a leave day, but this normally keeps the idiots away and mid week days are always more fun and safer due to very few people being there. The format of the day is very Open, first timers get 3-4 laps around the track with an instructor. We are then broken into Slow, Med & Fast groups and set out on the track for 20 min sessions. There are normally 3 qualified instructors available and we get to take passengers in each others cars, yes PASSANGERS, in today’s environment this is rare! We normally stop for lunch (BBQ supplied) and then have a 5 lap grid race, which again is very rare and is a once off experience that should not be missed. We then return to 20 min sessions and then the last few hours is normally open track time for you to enjoy the rest of the day. I have spoken to Aaron and he has agreed to a SAU club cost of $200 per person providing we can get 10 people. I think I can commit about 7 people from my work, so we only need a couple extras to get this price. Post up if you are interested. Aaron is available to if you have any other questions on the day, and payment can be made directly with Aaron and he does take visa. Make sure you tell him you are from SAU to get the discount. Event form attached. See you all there, and lets make this another good day! Zed V R34 Gtr At Oran Park
OZ GTR35 replied to Boosted Zed's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
John, Im getting closer and only using those "old slick" that you called crap! I guess the real killer punch will be when the GTS track b!tch comes and eats you up! Im coming to drop some stuff off today, see you then! Good times again, but yesterday was by far my best times ever. -
Azz, What slicks were you getting for the $200?
-
I had a friend that run a GT3 in the porche cup last year, they were just sitting around in his garage. The fronts are 18x9 240's and the rears are 18 x 11 290's. The front tyres fit on the original R34 GTR rims, a little small but they do fit. I paid the perfect price $0. Its like that old saying its not what you know but who you know. I have about 1-2 track days left on the once I used on Sat and I think I have 3 more pairs of fronts to use after that. Sorry these are not for sale, but when I pick up the rest of them I will try and get some numbes and attempt to source some more for everyone, even if we have to pay $100 per tyre, they would be fantastic for what we do with them. I will post up if I get any success.
-
Here is a good comarison on what good tyres can do. S1 best time 1:27.3180 (on Yoka E300 middle of the range street tyre) S2 Best time 1:22.6884 (on 2nd hand Mich porshe cup slicks) Same car same day almost 5 sec in time.

Does anyone have any picks of car 87, its my R32 b!tch car, no number plate charcole with the black door. Thanks
-
Duncan, I agree with your comments, but perhaps a little more organisation and better expectation setting would have made everyone a little happier, the arvo was run like old school, I think I had more track time from 2pm then I did for everything prior, I did have an enjoyable day, sh!ty morning, but a great arvo. Enough said. I did forget to mention a thankyou for the marshals and everyone who put in on the event. Sorry about having to look at my a$$ but you asked for it Duncan. All, there was one casulty on the day, my track s**t car has spun a bottom end, should be up and going by the next track day, we have a spare GT4 bottom end sitting around. Briefly the Aaron Mcgill details are as foolows. Phase 3 May 29 Oran Park Grand Prix Track: For the driver who loves the thrill of clipping an apex, or powering hard out of a turn, we have the 2nd of our 2006 Grand Prix Track drive days. Auto-Motion will provide you with expert in car training from drivers who are actually involved in competitive motor sport. manned flag posts for safety, and a fantastic BBQ lunch. All in a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. The cost for the full day on the GP track is $239.00. I know its a Monday which costs you a sick day or an anual day, but with the grid starts and all day passanger time its well worth and price. Im working on a group discount for SAU, I will post up a new thread once I have had a chance to chat to Aaron. I have about 8-10 people from work coming, there will be the four of us who where out there this weekend, Myself, Ralph (grey 200SX), Steve (White WRX), Shane (R32 GTS-T broken!), I have a SS Doore, 626, C230 Merc and another wrx. See you all out there.

Yeah, it was a good day, I was a little pissed with the wasted time and the 10 cars on the track rule, but one of the RENEWS guys came up at the end and said it was mainly due to the new CAMS officials pushing them around. 1.22 Im happy thats, it my fastest lap time. We can now get ready for the next AArom Mcgill day in 4 weeks, I will post it up Monday morning. Did anyone get any shoots of me on 3 wheels into turn 1?
-
I will bid $100 providing John does the work himself in a skirt! (withdrawn, I spent 15 min trying to get John to commit, he said he would do the work, but not in a skirt barsted!)
