  1. My Dyno Graphs are in. I made a mistake, the peak was 300 not 310
  2. Birnie, They start at 9am and cars off the track at 5pm. Sessions run every 20 min, usually 3 groups.
  3. I think there is one on the 7th Feb, but It is too close to organise. I will chat to dave and see if he is thinking of another day.
  4. Merli, Although your engine will not be standard as is mine, it will be interesting if you push the GTSS to the limits. You never know we may need to swap turbo's????
  5. Check out the skid pan day link below. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...1368#post641368
  6. Gents, Dave has asked me to try again, please see the new post if you want to give it a go. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...1368#post641368 Thanks
  7. All, Dave from moto concepts has asked for my to try and organise another skid pan Day on Sat 27th March. After the 20 + no shows at the last day the following format will be tried. Both pans again, the large skid pan and the figure 8, we will have 2 instructors. Early morning, one person on a pan at a time so you can get confidence in your car and the track. After this double shoot outs with chase time on the figure 8. You will get heaps of pan time and do around a tank of juice. There will be little wear on your car as you dont get much over 80km/hr, and your tyres will skid most of the day do wear will be nothing over the day. The cost 35 Cars on the day, $75 deposit needed for non members $50 for members $150 per car 35 names max, $50 per additional driver, $10 per passenger (Wrist bands to be used to ensure on driving I will need a $75 deposit for non members and $50 for members Deposits are transferable to other drivers if you cant make it, the focus is on ensuring numbers not to take your money. I will assume 5 drop outs on the day so 30 people for the day will be comfortable. Any questions please let me know. Thanks OZ
  8. Maj, Im in! Cars tuned, new tyres need to go on, as they are shagged after 45,000Km and 10 + track days. "Swirl swirl with crazy sound affect as Oz falls back into his chair in a trance" I have a question wont track days wear out my tyres? Oh Sh!t ..... slap slap, wow, where am I? For a second there I thought I had a vagina! I think a will only do a 1/2 day, unless it rains and then I will do a full one, start you rain dance fatz! I thought we would have more people on a non week day? We need to book soon or there will be no spots. I think Zane will do a 1/2 day with me as well.
  9. Well All, the verdict is in. The GTRS's are a bit big for a standard GTR donk, If I was to do it again, GTSS would be the go. The exhaust hausing on the GTRS is just on the too large side and for the 1.3lt worth of air. Yesterday I went down to UAS, to get it dynoed and tuned. Firstly Ben from UAS was fantastic! and I will defiantly get him to tune my apexi again. His attitude to tunning was constructive, conservative and worked with you openly, sharing ideas and experiences. We discussed most changes before doing them and he was always happy to tune as I asked, but always explained clearly why he personally would or would not do it that way. As a bonus I learnt heaps over the time and he knows his sh!t. In the 4hrs of Dyno time, we set 4 boost setting, tried about 10 different Cam adjustments combo's and played with heaps of fuel and timing maps. Both cruising and cold start runs were completed. The car had a base timing at –5 Deg to start with, so the first job of the day was to get the Apexi reading the same as the timing gun. Fuel, we played at around 12:1 but then riched it up for safety at about 11.8 to 11.9. Boost setting on the Apexi, were set at follows. .7Bar (God knows how, as the GTRS turbo's was suppose to have a 1Bar actuator?) 1Bar 1.2Bar 1.4Bar At all boost settings we tuned to about 10 knock and at 19psi it was just under 20 knock, which is really safe. Now for the power figures, remember this is a 2WD Dyno, Im very much looking forward to testing on a 4WD dyno to see what the actual drive train losses are on 4 paws. Starting Dyno 29 Deg outside temp last night. 236KW, Default apexi with the mods listed in the 4th post. Today at lunch outside temp was 34 Deg and were settled runs on a hot engine. BP Ultimate, not additives. 10 PSI (.7Bar) (Who cares, this one is only for the missus) 14.5 PSI (1Bar) 250Kw 17 PSI (1.2Bar) 280Kw 19 PSI (1.4Bar) 300Kw We decided no to go any higher on the boost, and added some fuel and retarded for safety to ensure the engine does not go pop. It’s not worth 10 kW on a dyno graph, if it costs you an engine. We got a peak spike of 330Kw at one stage, which was our highest reading for the day. The best CAM sprocket settings were at +6 and -6 Deg, the GTRS keep the top end high and the sprockets added about 5-15 KW though the 3000-6000rpm marks. While the peak power only dropped by about 5kw. My duty cycle topped at about 75% so there is heaps of fuel still in the inj. I could probably put the STD ones back in if I really wanted too. The bad news? The bad boys are very laggie, I did not hit 1bar of boost until 5000RPM, but then they would sing. Target boost was hit about 6000rpm. The good news was the dyno graph was unbelievably linear. The thing drives like a STD GTR around the street, and then when you hand the rev's up, you know your not in a STD car. It should suit my day to day driving and keep me happy on the track when I sit around 5-7000 rpm. The GTR needs to be bought by someone who want to do some serious work to it. Cams, forged oversized pistons, 3lt bottom end. The turbo's are capable of 100+ more kW if the engine was set up to use it. All in all Im happy and assured of the cars longevity, I will run day to day at 17 PSI so it will be fun. Again, my praise to Ben from UAS, job well done. And John thanks for looking after me on the price. I will post up the dyno info once UAS send it to me.
  10. Fatz, How do you loose 20Lb in 5 sec?, chop your head off! Just jokes, good luck, and may the 12 year old single malt be with you!
  11. Works well for the old radar frequencies, but you will need something else to transmit IR to combat the new hand help radars. A disco ball of IR transmitters at the right IR frequency(s) would help to disrupt the signal.
  12. I found that thread have a read and let me know if you think ghostrider http://forums.skylinesdownunder.co.nz/show...25&pagenumber=1 Now this info is 15 months old and shell have have made some chages to the optimax to comply with Ghost's coments on specific gravity, but read the whole thread, Ghost did his research. In Sumary: an extract SHELL OPTIMAX (98.3 RON) Under it's present formulation, it will not pass the drivability index set down by the EPA for fossil fuels, that will become law sometime in 2003 (1 July) at a guess and therefore will be illegal to sell. Also, it contains over 4% Benzine & Sulphur and tested at 98.3 octane (RON). So if you want to breath all of this SH1T go for it, we will all come and visit you in La La Land. For Optimax to meet the drivability index, the company must spend MULTI MEGA MILLIONS of DOLLARS on their refinery to allow them to crack LOW SULPHUR crude oils. MOBIL SYNERGY 8000 (98.5 RON) Contains less than 0.4% Benzine & Sulphur, tested at 98.5 octane (RON) and complies with the drivability index NOW!! as is. A much cleaner, more environmentally friendly fossil fuel. BP ULTIMATE (98.8 RON) Contains similar quantities of Benzine & Sulphur to Mobil and tested at 98.8 octane (RON) and also complies. GETS MY VOTE as NUMBER1. "G" EVOLUTION After some lengthy discussion and research, this fuel from Traffigura compares favourably with both BP Ultimate & MOBIL Synergy 8000 in all aspects. What you must decide is this, Evolution is not manufacture here, it is produced in Singapore and transported here via tanker and stored in Melbourne.
  13. One other reason I dont use Optimax, I find it goes off after about 4 weeks, I had to get my bike retuned a couple of times after it backfired itself out of tune. The other issue is that on track days I get a little amount of spillage from my tank, Optimax stains my paint, BP does not.
  14. Guys, I’m x-military and have been trained and worked on radar's for about 5 years. Its all crap, the only way to jam radar is to transmit the same signal back to the radar to confuse the receiver and give a false reading. The cops radars are that sensitive that your head alone would send back enough signal for them to measure a phase shift in your momentum. So in 100 words or less how does a cops radar work? The cop transmits a pulsed signal (can be from sound waves to giga wavelengths, in the NSW cops case IR) at an object, the object reflects a small amount of that signal back and the radar measures the phase shift between the sent signal and the received signal. If you are moving towards the radar then you will compress the signal and if you move away from the radar then you de-compress the pulsed signal. The classic example is the train bell at a rail way crossing. The trains bell rings at the same frequency but as the train moves towards you it sounds like a higher frequency as the waves are compressed, once the train is passed, it sound lower in frequency as the wave is decompressed. The ever slight difference in pulsed waves can be measured and hence determine your speed. As the cops use the IR frequency there is virtually no way in blocking this without a disco ball which radiates IR in all directions, painting your car in IR absorbing paint means you would need to paint yourself and the windscreens tyres etc. The cops are good aims as they can pick up bikes if they are on a tripod. All in all you cant do much that’s why they changed from the old K-band radars which you use to be able to block with a 1 watt broad frequency TX.
  15. Ghostrider, I think that’s his nic, did a sample testing post about a year ago, I could not find it but I do remember the results. The guy is a chemist and did specific measurements on 3 different samples of each petrol. The results? BP Ultimate was the best, it had the highest consistent octane, I think it was about 98.2 with the least sulfur. Mobile 8000 was next about 98.0 with a little more sulfur. Shell Optimax was the worst. 97.6 with heaps of sulfur. Caltex Vortex is only a Premium unleaded 96 Octane fuel with an injector clean added and was not recommended for the skylines. Now these test are at least a year old and the fuels may have been changed or refined more but at the time this was the best analysis we I have seen done. The other factor was the time to market. Shell was the first out and was less refined then the others. Mobile next with BP a late last, but the BP has a min of 98, while the other specify up to 98 octane. I notice the best performance and running on BP and have continued to use it for about 18 months in my GTR.
  16. Run into the xmas problems, will have it done next week hopefully.
  17. All, I recently just sold my relatively stock 1992 CBR900RR, the king of the sports bikes from 91-96 until the R1 turned up. I had it for about 5 years and only just sold. I have run the bike using a G-Tech against my 97 GTR. There was no competition in a straight line. CBR 0-100 3.4sec. GTR 0-100 4.5sec CBR 1/4 11.2 sec. GTR 1/4 12.2sec (With my new GTRS turbo's 11.8) Although I’m not the best bike rider in the world, I have found the car to be quicker around the Track. Eastern Creek; CBR 1.55Min, GTR 1.52Min. In my mind nothing rips your head off like a 100+kW/190KG vehicle. Now for the big one! Bike just sold it for $5k GTR $30-$50K Bang for buck, modified not modified, bikes are still king! But a car will keep you alive longer!
  18. Merli, Looks like my work firewall does not like the word PORN on your web page. Logged on from home, and down loaded all the MADGTR ones, very nice pics. Thanks man, well done.
  19. I think there is a point being missed here. P-Plate drives in "General" are young and a little irresponsible and in some cases a lot irresponsible. We have all seen the exel, comm, gts, lanser etc do something silly and you just shake your head and say idiot. I put this to you there is not a P-Plater in this country that has not done something stupid to some extent while driving with a "P" on the back, god knows I did when I was 17 years old. The big issue I see, is that a GTS-T is a cost effective sports coupe which is a tail happy car with enough HP to be silly, so in "General" what do most "P" platers do? Stick the boot in to prove something to their mates or them selves. So to answer the big question, no not 43, but to why do I see so many P-plater Skylines being idiots, the answer is, drum roll please. "Because they can!" That’s enough of the P plater inner psycho dribble, Oz has left the building. Disclaimer, By no way does this post agree or sanction the hooning action, burnouts, driving above the speed limit or any lewd act, of any individual, that’s what Eastern Creak is for! As I always say “do it on track not on the roads!”
  20. Gents, There are some very constructive comments above and since a few of the no shows actually sent Dave some money, I think he is slightly less pissed off with me and the group. A couple of quick comments before I chat about how to move forward. EC will not be reducing their price as they have heaps of other people wanting to run days and pay that price. I have seen the cost from other groups from $600 to $180 per person (about 20-40 people) with limited pan time (20min) per person, as they do more talking and less driving. The event cost Moto $1400 for allowing us to use the skid pan, I think Dave said he basically lost the $1400 from the bike which was most of his profits. The result is, Dave will think again before wanting to run the skid pan day again. The key issue was me not getting deposits because it is a pain in the ass. I suppose I was more angry with myself for trusting people to turn up! The Skid pan cost are about $4500 for the day. 2 x Tracks + 2 x Instructors + Ambo's + Rescue + their time. If we can return Dave $4500 he might consider running the even again. But remember he needs to see some extra cash otherwise there is no value in him running it. Moving forward, Since I have had a chance to cool down I no longer feel as strong about not running this type of day again. If I was to do it again I would run the following format. 35 Cars, $150 for the day. Deposits $100 non paid members, $50 Paid Members, I can assume paid members will do the right thing. The deposit is transferable to another person if you have a last minute car/personal issue and the replacement person pays for the day. A stand by list will also be used to ensure we have numbers. Assumed drop out rate of 5 cars on the day. $10 per passenger with wrist straps. Second driver same car, $50. With this format Dave will make some money, the numbers on the track will be about right. I think if we to start with 30 people, you will have about 25 by lunch and say 20 by mid afternoon, with the usual assumed car issues and problems. I will discuss this with Dave next year and see if we can put this together. If we have trouble getting enough people to the track I will invite the Silvia guys again.
  21. Enjoy and happy driving.
  22. Might be my firweall, I will check from home, if still no go I might get you to e-mail any thing you have of the MADGTR. Thanks
  23. Wow! What an interesting read! Its funny I do 40Km a year in my GTR for a least 5yrs now and I see more WRX's and 200's then I see Skylines. I guess the good news is people mock what they dont understand. And thats why we have freedom of speech, so some of us can laugh at other peoples point of view.
  24. Merli, Pic's all gone! The link comes up broken, server down or something? Let me know if/when they come back up. Thanks. P.S. Do you still have the video of me blowing up my engine?
  25. The red / yellow one with the race numbers on it, he had slicks or semi slicks on in the first session. I dont know what he was doing, but yes it was a waist. Thanks
