Yeah Just Car insurance will do that to ya. I get standard excess, age excess, car excess, wheel excess, additional adjust excess and theft excess on top if it gets stolen. Age is a massive factor when talking about the ability to judge risk. We have not had time to come to terms with our own mortality yet. We all think we will live forever and bad stuff only happens to other people. That's human nature and is especially present in younger people. Older people have had more life experience and are generally more risk averse. That's just the way things are. You might not feel that's true for you but we are talking in generalisations so there is little point trying to relate everything to your situation. It's more about how this affects the group demographic rather than the statistical anomalies 2008 Road Tolls Below link shows that in 2008 the male 17-25 demographic had the largest contribution to the road toll. Not sure how much this has changed, can't be arsed finding a newer study but I would guess that the numbers haven't changed significantly. Stupid people will kill themselves no matter what and accidents happen. There won't be any significant drop in the road toll until the government introduces more stringent licensing requirements etc. That won't happen because it's too expensive so we'll have to make do with the bandaid solution that we have now.
