  1. No good behaviour bond in victoria? I know in QLD if you lose all your points while on your Ps its a 3 month suspension or 12 months on a 1 point good behaviour license. I'm not sure if the laws are the same in VIC though. You can always appeal it anyway that will get you atleast another 3 - 4 months driving. I appealed a suspension n it got me another 6 months driving. When i went to court they made me pay the fine + the court fees but they didnt give me the points. If you cant afford to lose your license for the month do a little research because generally there is always a way around it.
  2. thanks for the write up helped me shitloads all idle n stalling issues now solved. Thanks again Coxy.
  3. ^^^ why is it a joke? if you know round about what other people are payin you can always use that as leverage to get a better deal.
  4. stock bov. pretty sure its plumbed back. im goin to clean the aac valve tonight when i get home because it sounds like that causes a lot of issues like mine.
  5. Hey all, I need advice on what could be wrong with my car. I'm a new skyline owner and only had the car since Tuesday. Ok so heres the problem. When I'm driving and I come to a stop at an intersection etc the revs drop right off to like 200rpm. Engine recovers and it settles at around 500 - 600rpm. Is this the correct idle? I thought it might be a little higher but I'm not sure. The car has also stalled a couple of times when parking or pulling into the garage. I have checked all the hoses. Found 1 hose with a crack that has been replaced. Any ideas? Should the boost gauge read 0 because at the moment it reads -20 vacuum. Its an aftermarket boost gauge aswell. Thanks in advance Coxy
  6. comprehensive on a r33 gtst. $2092 a year n im 18. excess is where they get you though. $2500 excess if i crash it or it gets stolen. And make sure u get the right agreed value on your car. If your payin 20k for it n they say well we'l' insure it for 16k then ur gunna be f**ked when it gets crashed or stolen...
  7. Hi all, I bought my car yesterday ended up buyin a 1996 R33 GTST. Its got full gtr bodykit, intercooler and 3 inch exhaust. It goes alright there is a few things missing from the gtr kit though. The front splitter off the front bar is missing, I'm not sure if thats what its called, its the small strip at the bottom of the front bar, i think its made out of rubber from factory and the rear diffusers? from the rear bar. It still looks tough as though If anyone knows where I can get these parts it would be a great help. ill post some pics up when I get it all clean and shiny. Thanks all for the help and advice it is much appreciated. Coxy
  8. Hey guys I'm looking for the R33 GTR front splitter that is underneath the front bar. Does anyone know where I can buy one of these?
  9. Well I'm still torn guys but I think I'm gunna go with the GTST. I won't really be able to afford to run a GTR so I don't wanna buy the car n then destroy like most people my age do. I can't afford to have 2 cars just because of the insurance/rego and etc and I don't really want to spend more than $20k on a car thats why the 34s are off the list. Thanks for all the replies they were all very helpful and a good insight into owning a GTR I'm gunna go n low ball some GTST owners haha. Ill throw up some pics when I finally buy one. Coxy.
  10. Hi all, I'm currently in the middle of searching for a new car and have been searching now since August 07! After many many months and many changes of heart/interests its come down to an R32 GTR and an R33 GTST which for most is a seemingly easy decision. This is where it gets difficult. At the moment I'm working at Tweed Heads in NSW and have to drive to and from work from Jimboomba. Its around 105kms. The journey is probably 50/50 between highway driving and twisty mountain roads. So by the end of the week I've easily clocked up 1300kms or more, this is were my main concern is. How badly would fuel kill me with the GTR is it that much worse than a GTST? That and the servicing side of things I would probably end up servicing it every month which is pretty crazy. Well I think so anyway lol. But again the GTST would need to be serviced every month also. Now looking through carsales I can see very clean examples of both cars for under $20,000. And this is where the GTR has got me thinking. Where as when I started looking at GTRs back around August/September last year you had to pay around $22,000 - $25,000 for a nice example but now there are plenty of nice looking ones for under $20,000. It just seems such of rip off to pay $17,000 for a mildly modified GTST when you can pay an extra 2 - 3k and get a clean GTR. If i budget $800 - $1000 a month for fuel costs and servicing would I be able to maintain a GTR? that is about as far as my budget stretches without compromising my saving for the month. Im finished working at Tweed Heads around July and after that I'd probably only do 600 - 800kms a week so maybe I could just skip breakfast and lunch for 6 months and buy the GTR lol Sorry for such a long post but I wanted to give a bit of detail about the situation so you can see where I'm coming from. Thanks guys n gals Coxy
  11. Im in exactly the same boat my friend. Ive bin searching for cars since August last year and I'm yet to find one that i really really like. I wanted to buy a GTR but the main reason thats stopping me is the cost to maintain it. I do around 1200 - 1400kms a week driving to and from work so id need to service it every 3 weeks or so lol! I thought of an S15 aswell but at the end of the day i think people are kidding themselves with the asking prices. 25 - 30k for a car with 120,000+ kms on it. I wouldnt recommend doing anything like driving a gtr on ur ps if ur not allowed to because all it takes is one curious coppa or some f**kwit to hit you or slam on their brakes etc. Its just too much to risk and so unnecessary. I think im gunna go with a R33 GTST or a BA XR6 Ute...
  12. ^^^ Arent they just the sexiest wheels ever lol. Dunno if i can justify 440 pounds ea for em! Mayb try import em from japan might be cheaper :S
  13. Hi I'm wondering if there are any suppliers in Australia who do the Do Luck Double Six Wheels? or does anyone know of a wheel that is sold in Australia that is similar to these. Thanks guys Coxy.
  14. holy shit thats a nice GTR lol. too bad its sold.
  15. Thanks guys this is what i needed. Djr81 of your four GTRs what kind of problems have you encountered with maintenence and things going wrong?
  16. Hi guys n gals i just joined this forum in hope of getting some answers from people who know skylines Im looking to buy a new car for daily driving and atm its going between R32 GTST, R32 GTR and R34 GT - T. I have about 25k to spend. So heres what I want to know. Regarding the 32s how often do things go wrong with them? I've read a few topics and most say that a GTR is not practical for a daily driver. Ive seen a lot of dodgy GTRs on my strolls through the car yards but theres still the odd gem amongst them. So i guess the question is. Is there alot of problems even with well maintained GTRs and GTSTs? How much more reliable are the 34s compared to the 32s? Really im leaning toward getting a GTR just because the history and reputation that car has I figure its in my price range so why not have the best eh. Please gimme your thoughts on this, educate me lol Thanks Coxy
