Very difficult situation over there. The one that will affect us more is the decision in mid October about the US debt ceiling. The last time they f**ked around with that they had their credit rating downgraded which has serious knock on affects. Cant imagine the chaos if the US actually defaulted on its loans lol. In terms of AUD going up against the USD bearing in mind the economy is being propped up by the resource sector the stronger the AUD is the worse it is for us in the big picture. Anything going badly over there is going to reflect the same on us.

Most REs wouldnt know their arse from their elbow lol. I've done a lot of reading on the subject and construction/prop development is my industry. Much of the trouble is like the stock market sorting the good info from the bad and going from there. I wouldnt trust anyone with a vested interest in selling properties or in the market itself. All their advice tends to be geared towards driving market activity rather than solid investment strategy which is understandable.

Housing is no sure bet either. Im not a fan of buying and counting on the market going up. If you have the time to buy places with development potential then you can get some high returns with little work but knowing the DA process and what you can put on a block/determining its potential value is going to be difficult unless you know what you're doing or if you're going to pay someone.
