Car: 1996 Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T series 2 Insurance company: Just Car Cost: $1144 age: 23 driving history: Clean gender: Male mods: Just a 3 inch exhaust & defi control unit post code: 6015 garage y/n: Yes alarm: Yes & Immobilizer insured amount: $14,500 market or agreed value: agreed insured in parents name? No alarm category: AutoWatch something or other excess: $450 + $800 + $600 + [$800 theft] = $1850 [2650] The car is now insured for about $2000-3000 more than I expect to get for the sale. That's almost enough motivation for me to plough it into a pole to not have to bother selling it [not really, I just gave it a bit of a flooring tonight and I remembered why I love my car ... even though it's basically stock as a rock]

Squeaky clutch Couple of small paint chips that were rusted when I bought it, hasn't spread & I've been too lazy to get them fixed up First->Second gear crunches a bit below 2700rpm changes Car isn't idling smoothly... revs are constant but it loses consistency every 5-10 seconds for a quick moment then returns to normal. I assume that's a sparkplug issue or something (not very mechanically minded) 2 years after buying it I still haven't bothered putting in an adapter or new head unit that would allow me to pick up Australian radio stations One of my nismo rim caps still needs painting before being put on

Oh well at least I personally know to beat the everliving shite out of someone vandalizing my car (assuming no witnesses around & I catch them) and then when the police question me I can tell them "I was nowhere near the area at the time". Apparently that's a plausible defense... oh right except if you're a skyline/HPV owner I love this: Except... they were caught & held by rdirty3 near where the incident happened (certainly the same area). Logic fail

I suffered this problem for months... It was fixed after a service although I hadn't told the mechanic about the issue... the only non standard thing he did was clean the throttlebody, but since then I've had no such issues. He said it was filthy & clogged. Also noted a slight increase in lower end responsiveness from that service. Worth consideration I suppose...
-
By the way a temp fix is to always blip the throttle a bit when going into neutral, well it was for me anyway... Sometimes needed two blips but didn't ever fully stall after I found that out
-
At my last service my throttlebody was removed and cleaned and it fixed up that exact issue, so it's probably what bubba said, but I've heard a lot of people point to bov issues...

With so many links (multiline), it may look better if they are centered (as in not left aligned) since the index page is all centered anyway. On your gallery, it'd be nice to include the thumbnails of the 3 previous and 3 next photos below the current viewed photo rather than just the "next/previous" navigation at the top. Those are the opinions of this humble non-web designer

Window Smashed & Boost Gauge Stolen [innaloo Megaplex]
Psyrus replied to Psyrus's topic in Western Australia
Not too ouch for me, not sure if the actual pricing for the window was good... but I helped with the process and yeah perhaps I could've done it but it would've taken me several hours (I'm estimating 4-5) because I am completely unfamiliar with the mechanics behind it and I would've been super gentle. The $80 for labour doesn't sting too bad, and it fixed my squeaky hinge or whatever. Anyhoo, thanks for the recommendations, at least now I could do it myself with confidence if the need ever again rises. -
Window Smashed & Boost Gauge Stolen [innaloo Megaplex]
Psyrus replied to Psyrus's topic in Western Australia
Well just to update, I called various wreckers and ended up going to Raj at Jap Parts Plus, $220 for the window & fixtures + $80 for labour (labour was well spent, no way I could've done it myself) and I managed to pick up two [sorta] matching nissan wheel caps (we produced with spartan air thing) for $15 each in decent condition, so I'm pretty happy! -
Love the video! You got a list of what you put into that s14 to make it whip around the track like that?

Hey boys & girls, Went to see Avatar last night, which I must say is the movie of the year, by far and without a doubt. If you haven't seen it, don't do yourself the disservice of missing it in the cinemas. And if you can get decent seats (back<->middle of cinema) then I definitely recommend the 3D version. Saw both and the 3D one really grows on you about 15-20 mins into the movie. You see it in regular form and it's a little meh after that. Anyway, come back to my baby @ 11:30pm when it finished and lo & behold, my driver's side window is no more, plus my defi gauge is gone: Luckily they didn't get the boost controller (drilled into the leg well), and I don't leave anything of value in the car [couldn't even get my cd player lolz]. They hit about 5-10 cars apparently, couple of Subarus, saw a new Golf had been broken into, my 33 and a guy's 34, when I called the police they said at least 5 others had been reported so yeah big downer on that one. Annnnyway! So I'm in the market for a driver's side window and a boost gauge to replace the stolen one, preferably of the same type since I still have the defi control unit. Ebay seems best for the gauge unless anyone knows a better source, but as for the window, could I get a couple of suggestions. Osbourne park is closest to me, however I'm willing to drive wherever I need to for a good deal and quality workmanship. Latest thread on the issue seemed to be here, but dunno if there are better suggestions that might've been missed out. Oh and yes I realize it'll be January before I get it replaced, but I'd like to start budgeting for it etc, so I'd appreciate all suggestions [first hand experience preferred] Oh and to the poor guy with the white 34, your car is smexy and I hope it worked out for you last night [they took his turbotimer or something and it messed up his ignition]. Don't let it get you down, christmas is to be enjoyed with friends/family so just press forth and enjoy Merry christmas all!

I wonder if you could argue that the engine shutting down after 45 seconds automatically is not 'normal function of the engine'? Probably not, but it'd be better than going... "oh"

So, any news, did they get the message you're on to them and stop showing up?

Haha wow so it is a speed camera there. I get off work pretty late (1-4am usually) and luckily I have the worst case of pussyfoot in the world (granny driving I suppose it's called here) and so I generally sit on the limit, no more no less. I'm generally passed by a whole heap of people, especially at 3am when everyone just wants to get home and into bed, and we're all pretty tired, and I thought I was imagining things the first two times I saw the flash of the speed camera, because I looked around and there was no multinova and only a red light camera (yellow one)... thought I was going crazy!! Ah well, that means in the last month at least 5 people I know have got speeding tickets there

Yeah! Go you, stick it to the man brah!

From what I can tell from his subsequent posts, he's looking for a bit more torque in the low end (2k-4k rpm). I'm not really sure what you do to get that, besides upping the capacity of the engine or adding more cylinders. [but then again I know shite all about engines ]

Very subtle rattle when idling Squeeky clutch (on the way in and out) It was doing that boost stall thing but that seems to be cleared up A few pin dents that are turning into rust spots Exhaust is too loud for my tastes It's not a GTR

Well kiddo, that simple admission of your acid test for cars (the accord that can't do anything, so to speak) being an activity that ends up making import owners look ridiculous, which is funny because the irony is that it is the person, not the car that makes the fool. Seriously though, I'd say stick to lower powered cars until that urge goes away, then if you still want a car as nicely engineered as the skylines, then have a proper look. I just don't want more of these stories popping up, it just makes me facepalm http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1266519 P-plater who got done for driving without a license 6 times with a R34 GTT (in his state turbos aren't allowed for P's). Sigh.... Look at the first few posts, the stigma is already there, skyline = idiot driving. To answer your questions though, I guess people wouldn't mind if you're riding as a passenger, although I'd think you'll need to clear up this misunderstanding about your attitude towards driving habits before most on these forums would encourage you towards skylines.

Hey I had/have (not sure if it's still happening b/c I learned to drive in such a way it didn't happen) this problem with I bought my 33GTS-T Basically if you just start getting on boost (>3200rpm or something) then put the clutch in the rev counter will fall all the way to 0 and your engine will die, is this right? Two things you can do to to avoid the stalls: - When you think your driving might cause this to happen, blip the throttle after you go into neutral/put the clutch in, and it'll stop the engine from dying - If it does die and you're still rolling (even a little) just drop the clutch whilst in second gear and it'll force the engine to turn over and spring back to life. Very annoying problem when I first got the car. A year later and it doesn't seem to happen anymore, but I'm not sure if that's because I just adjusted my driving to avoid it or in the 3x services between then they fixed it unknowingly.

Hey Davo, I'm no expert since I'm only a 1 year owner, but my advice about the insurance would be... if you're on Ps and you're getting a skyline, just go the JustCar route, they were the only ones less than $2000 for me, although my excess is up at like... $1500 I think. There's the third party option but I feel more secure having comprehensive Also, I wouldn't rush into the purchase, I looked at about 30 cars over 8 months before I found a skyline I was truly happy with, and don't regret being patient for one second. I was like you too, not enough cash for the R34GTR that I wanted originally (I mean who doesn't really want that one ) so I settled on a very nice black 33 GTS-T, and am really happy with the purchase. The 34 interiors look much more modern IMO than the 33, and you can get up to 1998 or 99(?) with the 34 so yeah still pretty modern. They're awesome cars, I have to say. One day I'll have a GTR... one day

Gahhhh so lucky!!!!

How was the drive in it?

Is that Grimmjow [reaper]? I'm not a huge fan of the flutter personally, I find it somewhat ostentatious.

Did yours have teh little pipe thing that comes off the battery? That's what you need afaik (the pipe leads out of the boot... not sure)
