  1. I'm in the process of rebuilding right now and searched and found everyone recommends 26 rods into the 25 as a cheap upgrade. There seems to be alot of people runnin up to 280-300kw on stock internals with out any rod damage, so my question is: how much a stock rb25 rod can really handle? An if anyone has broken or bent one pls state at what power an rpm levels. The reason being i dont have acess to any used 26 rods an im only aiming for 260kw. I think Sydneykid quoted somewhere here that it was the rod bolts that were more proned to damage rather than the rods themselves.
  2. Ok guys need some input here. I'm in the process of ordering parts for a rebuild and so far i've sourced CP 20thou 8.5:1 pistons and an ACL main/rod bearing kit. The problem is with the head gasket--- I'm only getting 87mm cometic gasket. Will this work with the 86.5mm bore? An should i wait till the machinist deck/shave the block and the head then determine what thickness hg to use? I want to maintain a CR of 9:1 or for the least 8.8:1 I guess decking/shaving and using a thinner HG would be the only way to bring compression back up since i cant seem to find 9:1 oversized CP pistons.

  4. Had some experience puttin a 26 in a r34gtt so figured that much. Will the power be the same?
  5. What "fitting" modifications u refer to other than the sump? My main concern was the difference in the head if any at all An as i said i will be using the r33 harness and ecu so should i get the same power? R33 is kinda scarce right now. I live Trinidad and Tobago WI (huh! i know google it)
  6. oh..... and guilt toy i did take the advice I got rid of those ecus a log time ago i think it only lasted 2 days in the car just to try them out. And i did also raise my fuel pressure back to about 30psi. I suspect it was the over heating that did this.
  7. yeh ill do a compression tom........... but i think i'm screwed anyway! Does anyone know if the head and block from a stagea 25det is the same as the skyline? I sourced one already an was thinkin bout transfering all my externals including gearbox, sump, ecu and harness to it Will the stagea 25 make the same power and will my harness(s1) work on this block ie. knock sensors,cas,injectors etc. And yes i searched!
  8. i know this may be a stupid ques but should i drive it? seeing that it fills the catch can with oil on a 15min drive Also wats fu*ked Ringlands?
  9. nope checked it this morn an it was empty! car also idles a little rough
  10. here it goes --A water jacket was leakin on my engine and didnt notice after 2 days! So apperently drove the car with little or no water to and from work 15mins each trip for 2 days! And the temp gauge read normal. So i changed the jacket filled her up and ive been using her for 2 days now and noticed today when i came from work the catch can was filled to the brim with oil. water Temp reads fine oil pressure reads fine wideband reads fine car still makes power like before What u guys think? Seems like i would forkin out for a rebuild!?
  11. The car was workin perfectly fine until i filled up. Now it idles rough but runs as normal ie. no stuttering hold backs etc. Also readings on wideband seems more or less normal. Kinda funny since its the first time i've experienced this.
  12. Hi guys. I'd like to hear input on the following ------I recently installed a mines tuned non programmable ecu, it got rid of r&r holding ign at about 17* tru the revs at wot on the apexi multichecker. The prob is it pings off boost at low rpm in higher gears showin up to 50* on the multichecker. I retarded the timin via the cas to see if this would make a difference but..... it did'nt Dont matter how much i retard it still shows 15* on idle and it made the car lazy going to about the same readin as before AN IT STILL PINGS!!!!!! Should'nt adjusting the cas affect the timing somehow? Also i tried to richen it up in that area with an safc2 -it retarded it by one or two degrees but IT STILL PINGS!!!!! Any suggestions? Oh.....with the stock ecu max ign at the same load is about 40* an goes to 8* when it hits r&r at wot RB25det s1 10psi
  13. Can the vtec signal from the neo be used somehow to switch nvcs on an off at specific rpm's
  14. The ecu is an upgraded stock ecu not tuneable an my injectors are stock 370's. My friend goes japan to bring in used parts 4 sale an the 33 he got it from also had stock inj an air flo not sure what boost they wererunin tho. So is this fuel pressure safe for everyday use? With out vac it reads bout 33psi - hav searched but found no definate ans about fp
  15. today i fitted a jap tuned ecu an dynoed to see the results.The dreaded drop in hp and tq with the stock ecu (11psi) between 5-6000rpm is no longer there but the curve falls flat over 6000rpm with a loss of hp from 229 to 208 an afr's in the 9's at peak rpm.Now it gets intresting! Fuel pressure was set at 37psi through an adj aeromotive fpr (with vac hose on) On dropping the fp to 25psi (with vac hose on) there is more power an tq through out the entire mid range and an increase to a peak of 233hp with afr's in the high 10'S at peak rpm(7400) My question is this--- Is it safe to run this amt of fuel pressure?It seems kinda low to me! I hav'nt heard any pingin an as i said afr's are about 12's from about 4000rpm droppin to high 10's to the limiter The car feels much smoother on the road too!

  17. have u guys ever heard of this oil? Gettin probs scince i changed to redline and now thinkin bout using this. Can any of u "oil gurus" check out the site an tell me what u think? there is tech info available.
  18. after changing from quaker state 20-50(mineral) to redline 20-50 started to hear clickin noise on idle.Its not a constant noise comes an goes.Anyone knows what this might be? Tappets? Is the oil too thin? Car has done 120000Km rb25det
  19. changed oil today from quaker state 20-50w to redline 20-50w went for a drive an heat it up pretty good then on idle started to hear a clicking noise(the kind u hear when u switch off an your exh is coolin down) seemed to be commin from the exh side rocker cover. Car has done 120000km an never heard this before. Any suggestions as to what this might be? By the way its not a constant noise it comes an goes.
