I found a great way to get my intercooler pipe (which runs along the front of the engine) to fit under the bonnet. After having a good look at it i noticed the main problem was the fan was geting in the way. So i'm going to pack out the fan by about 20mm, where the fan bolts onto the water pump. This will allow me to lower the intercooler pipe enough to clear the bonnet. Also with the fan being closer to the radiator it will make it more efficient.

Does anyone know if the cross member on a RB25 is lower than a RB20
-
well i just got a tape measure and measured from the top of the sump to the bottom of the head and it was pretty much exactly 4cm taller
-
We dropped my engine 25mm, and the sump is touching the swaybar. So i guess 25mm is the lowest you can go. I am going the have to lower the swaybar. I took the intercooler pipe of that crosses over the rocker cover and it just about closes, like properly 2-3mm. Have to check but i think its the top of the plenum where you bleed the air out of the radiator. Ive got a GTR bonnet so i dont know if that is lower the the GTS bonnets

Has anyone put a RB30DET in an R32 with the bonnet closing. My Engine has been dropped 25mm and the bonnet still cant close, hits the intercooler pipes which run across the top of the engine. By the way alot of people doing this conversion have been told the block is only 3cm taller, but in fact its 4cm taller.

That Car is sooooo Dodgy, ive seen the wiring on it

If everything runs to plan my RB25/30 will be complete this weekend. Last night bolted to top part of the RB20DET plenum onto the bottom part of the RB25DE plenum. Had i got look at it and noticed that on the runners of the RB25DE, the water jacket that runs alongs the plenum has a bung in the end of it, whereas the RB20DET has a nipple. Do i have to drill and tap this and pit a nipple in it, or can the hose be ran as where?

Anyone know how the solenoid works?

http://www.redbook.com.au/Vehiclesearch/default.asp go here they have heaps of car types with alot of specs

Ok so its easy to set the timing for the intake and exhaust valves, but how to u relate that the the crank pully.

Ive got the belt, there's no marks on the belt, and if there waz it would be for another car, the timings anit the same in all cars. I have to set the timing for a 3litre turbo. Obviouslly i cant find that out for my conversion, but if i can find the factory timing setings for a GTR or supra, or maybe the VG30DET, these will give me a good indication on what they have to be. Proberly be in a workshop maunal.

Im doing a RB25/30 conversion. Wondering if anyone knows anything about Valve timing. Im using RB25DE camshafts. So what would be valve timing: Inlet Opens.......????BTDC Inlet Closes.......????ABDC Exhaust Opens..????BBDC Exhaust Closes..????ATDC This will be a check after its all lined up

yer i know that, thats wat i have. Need to know how to hook it up??

I have a R32 skyline with a RB20DET. I had a wolf 3D v4 installed. I was told if i get a boost solenoid i can use it in conjunction with the wolf to control boost. Anyway i was able to get one. But have no idea how to connect it up.

The Dayco Cambelt, part number 94407, is 25mm wide. Is this right or does it need to be 30mm wide?

Im thinking about puting a set of Arias Pistons in. What do you guys think of these pistons. Im not sure if i should put 86.5mm or 87mm in. Any one else used these in there RB30?
-
How do i go about geting the right compression ratios? If i use a set of 86.5mm Arias pistons i'll get a capacity of 2998cc. Ive heard the RB25DE heads have between 62-64cc combustion chambers. Also a 0.5mm head gasket will give an extra 17.6cc to the combustion chambers. So if i compress 499.7cc into a 66cc combustion you get a ~7.6:1 ratio which is low. What would i have to do in order to get a more desirable ratio of say 8.5:1 ??

thanks thats great help.

Ive read the first 23pages of the R33 Conversion thread, and it hasn't covered some questions i need answers to. 1. Is it possible just to use the R32 RB25DE inlet plenum for the conversion, with a R32 RB20DET wiring loom, or do i have to use the R32 RB20DET inlet plenum. 2. Does the R32 RB20DET inlet plenum bolt up to the R32 RB25DE head without any issues? 3. What size injectors are the R32 RB25DE, and R32 RB20DET? 4. If the R32 RB20DET inlet plenum bolts up to the R32 RB25DE head, what size and type of injector can be used that will fit the RB20DET fuel rail, to make 400hp+?

Ive brought all the gear needed to do a RB30DET build, just have a few questions though. 1. Ive been told i can use the vl rods, just need to heat treat them, would this be alright for 400hp appications. Is it possible to use the rods out of the R32 rb25DE block which i have. Are they the same length as the vl rods? (haven't pulled engine apart yet) 2. Do you think it is worth while sticking a 240degree exhaust cam out of my old Rb20DET, and replacing it with a 232 exhaust cam which is in the R32 RB25DE head. Is this possible because i know the lifts are different and proberly need to change springs aswell. Can it be done? 3. The vl's use a 87mm piston. I know i can use a 87.5mm piston to give me about 3067cc. Would a bore of 1mm to 88mm giving a capacity of 3102cc be to extreme for a high horsepower engine. I was looking to put a set of Arias pistons in. Any feedback will be great, as i want to get it running soon.

Is there any difference between a R32 RB25DE head and a R33 RB25DE head? does anyone know?

come on guys someone must know how to do it properly, is there a drain on the block somewhere?
