  4. car looks horn does it have dual airbags??, all GTR's from 96 on series 2 had them along with 4 spoke steering wheel.. I thought series 3 started in 97?? Is it a vspec. Doesn't matter as logn as you are happy with it, just don't like seeing people geeting ripped off by dodgy used car salesmen. Series 2 had blue stitching on the seats.. dual airbags and the dash was a darker colour and texture along with the door trims. Bumper nostrils were optional. I looked at about 20 GTR"S before I bought my old one got told so many stories it wasn't funny including yeah mate its a vspec its got the sticker on the back...

  6. read carefully also a certian import dealer in Melbourne is under investigation for selling stolen cars from japan. VicRoads car scandal hits 3500 By MIKE EDMONDS 20feb03 MASSIVE corruption has been uncovered inside VicRoads that could mean thousands of unsuspecting motorists lose their cars. Dozens of illegally registered cars have been seized already. Late yesterday, police swooped on two imported 8-series BMWs worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. The Herald Sun has learned 3500 vehicles have been identified by police and VicRoads investigators in the past year as illegally registered. Corrupt VicRoads staff co-operated with criminal gangs to register thousands of stolen and illegally rebuilt cars. It is believed the crooked staff received about $100 for every car they falsely registered. Seven allegedly corrupt VicRoads employees at four branch offices have been arrested and will face court. More arrests are expected as the full extent of the racket is revealed. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of innocent car owners can soon expect VicRoads notices cancelling their registration and third-party insurance. It is believed the owners will have no recourse to compensation. VicRoads investigators are working with police to uncover how far the corruption has spread. Some staff at VicRoads' Kew headquarters are also under suspicion, according to one investigator. The Herald Sun was told there are several car theft gangs running the racket across Melbourne. It is believed the gangs carved up the city, with each group staking "ownership" of a VicRoads office where they illegally slipped cars into the registration system. "It's like, 'You don't use my contact at this office or I'll come and break your legs'," the Vicroads officer said. A VicRoads source said some cars were falsely registered even before they were stolen. "The thieves ring their contact inside and say 'I'm going to steal a white Commodore tomorrow, register it for me, these are the identification numbers I'm going to use'," the officer said. It is believed some of the VicRoads offices suspected of being involved in the racket have been fitted with spy cameras. The Herald Sun has been told several people have been caught on video, apparently accepting payments from suspected criminals. But out-of-pocket car owners are unlikely to get compensation. RACV chief engineer (vehicles) Michael Case said normal comprehensive car policies would not cover the situation. "If the vehicle is seized by police it hasn't been stolen, it's not damaged, it hasn't disappeared, so I don't believe there could be a claim," Mr Case said. "However, car owners who have purchased a vehicle in good faith might be able to take legal action directly against the person they purchased it from, if they can find him or her." None of the 3500 cars that have been falsely registered are older than five years. A VicRoads officer said some of the registrations were being dummied up for imported cars, mainly BMWs and Mercedes, while they were still aboard ship on their way to Melbourne. The officer said the fraud was working so well and the VicRoads computer checks so poor that even Sydney-based gangs were starting to use VicRoads to register stolen vehicles, paying a commission to the Victorian operators of the scheme. He said some car yards and auto engineers were involved, but most of the illegal vehicles were sold privately. "It's corruption on a huge scale," the officer said. "Imported cars need an engineers' report to be registered here, and a proper engineering examination is supposed to take about four hours. Some engineers are doing 10 reports a day." The officer said there were so many loopholes in the VicRoads system that one set of identification numbers had been used to illegally register 20 vehicles, and no alarm bells had gone off. Investigators said they had no idea how long the racket had been running, but the 3500 cars identified so far had all been illegally registered in the past year. Det-Insp Paul Hollowood of the stolen motor vehicle unit said the inquiry was in its early stages. "It's being done in co-operation with VicRoads themselves and to date a number of people have been spoken to but no one's actually been charged with any offences," he said. "It's early days in terms of the inquiry, and I would say it will be an on-going one." A retired VicRoads employee who spoke anonymously to the Herald Sun said the fraud could have been running for years. "It was happening when I was there; not as sophisticated as now, but still happening," the former employee said. VicRoads general manager for registration and licensing Geoff Shanks confirmed some staff had been interviewed by police. "VicRoads has been working closely with police for a number of months as part of an on-going investigation into irregularities with some vehicle registrations," Mr Shanks said. "Due to the on-going investigation it would be inappropriate to comment further." It is believed the first people to be questioned about the racket were snared in a police sting.

  8. hahhaha yeah ray martin is my best mate..... he loves me I even style his hair for him and jeff kennet heheh.. lawyer mates yeah here and there. if not happy put ina complaint as you guys have done if still no result contest it more than likely get thrown out of court cops will have costs awarded against them and then officer in question will be reprimanded for wasting taxpayers time and money and more than likely lengthen his time to promotion. just hope you get a good magistrate. wear a suit and tie and look good speak factually and correctly and have everything documented and copies to prove it. sometime the police will even can the case and withdraw just before court if they know you are serious. take a witness as well.

  13. hahhaha. in vic stay away from dandenogn area they are runnign operation "Armageddon" which is doing random roadworthy checks most nights till late from tue - sat. also a traffic management cop jsut got busted for stealings goods from a stolen car seems no one is above the law. in vic 50 police under investigation from offences ranging from drugs to child pornography. also seen a TMU vehicle first hand enter a racetrack without organisers permission proceed to do a high speed lap of the track and crash causing extensive damage. all this captured on home video and sold to channel 7 news... needless to say the person involved was made to pay back the damages and demoted to constable. I have also seen numerous marked and ummarked cars speeding for no reason running red lights doing illegal u turns and was nearly hit on the freeway one night by an unmarked Xr8 doing 180kmh or so with no lights on trying to catch someone doing perhaps five kms over the limit. talking on mobile phones four in the back of a Falcon not wearing seatbelts and then they give us a canary for a roadworthy well maintained vehicle while cars are getting stolen.... rant off.

  22. in the meantime this is happening while the cops hassle innocent people.... also so many rusting bombs on the road, have seen cars with metal on metal brakes, cane chairs for seats and a drum with a garden hose to the carby replacing a fuel line, also rust holes big enough for a whole family to fit into, tyres balder than (we won't go there) and more smoke than a james Bond special effect THIEVES are stealing an estimated $100 million in cars annually to support the state's illegal vehicle rebirthing industry. Gangs with strong links to other areas of organised crime are stealing up to 4000 late-model and prestige cars a year to feed the trade. The rackets have defied a drop in the level of car thefts statewide to become the number one problem for specialist car theft investigators. Det-Insp Paul Hollowood, of the Victoria Police stolen motor vehicle unit, said between 600 and 1000 cars, with an average value of about $40,000, were stolen for rebirthing in Victoria every three months. Rebirthers use stolen vehicles and blend them with cheaply purchased written-off cars with legitimate chassis and engine numbers to transform them into an apparently legitimate product. Buyers who pay big money for what they think is a new car find themselves with no right to keep it if the vehicle is found to be stolen. Det-Insp Hollowood said buyers should ask as many questions as possible about a car's history and try, where possible, to buy from a reputable trader. "You can't ask too many questions. You've got to be suspicious of cars with no service history," he said. Det-Insp Hollowood said it was hoped a national register of stolen and wrecked vehicles would soon help put a major dent in the rebirthing industry. He said the next major problem was expected to be stolen vehicles being imported into and exported from Australia. Motor vehicle squad members recently uncovered four imported Ferraris worth $250,000 each which had been stolen in Japan. Det-Insp Hollowood's comments came as official police figures revealed the central business district, St Albans, Preston, Dandenong, Sunshine and St Kilda were Victoria's worst places for car theft. The statistics had 1980s Fords and Commodores filling the top-10 list of cars most stolen. Police have made substantial inroads in cutting the state's rate of car theft in recent years. Senior police said the reinstatement of a specialised stolen car squad and designated teams of local detectives, called Tomcat crews, had played a large part in cutting theft figures by 20 per cent. The Tomcat teams had success working on opportunist thieves who steal cars to commit other offences or for joy-riding. The crews have concentrated on places hardest hit by motor vehicle theft, seizing stolen cars, drugs and other stolen property worth millions of dollars. Det-Insp John Noonan said some of the thieves had stolen up to 15 cars a night and more than 80 before being caught. "Some of them can't remember, they've stolen so many," Det-Insp Noonan said. Investigators have also noted an explosion in wheel theft around Melbourne. One gang arrested after a Tomcat investigation last year had allegedly stolen wheels valued at $600,000, which they unloaded at wheel and tyre outlets and a fast food restaurant. Sets of Commodore HSV and SS wheels, valued at between $2500 and $6000, were allegedly favoured by the group of 14.
