  1. Thanks to everyone involved. It was a great day, plenty of good-humoured ribbing between the Supra and Skyline guys. I think that T-Shirt was the winner though . Us Supra guys will need to think of something for next time....
  2. Hi guys, I thought I'd post this here. The ACT Supra Club has booked the skid/drift track at Sutton Road tomorrow (Saturday). We are running 2 sessions (morning and arvo) with 10 places for each. Anyone who's interested is welcome to attend. Currently we have 1 morning space and 4 arvo spaces left. ACT Supra Club Drift Day Run by FifthGear Motorsport Saturday, 24th October 2009 ~ 8am - 5:00pm The ACT Supra Club is holding a Skid/Drift practice day at the Sutton Road driver training centre. Those who were at our last one will remember that it's a lot of fun, good training, safe, and gentle on the car and tyres because it's a wet track. This will be run like the last one. There will be two separate sessions, a morning one and an afternoon one, and a BBQ in the middle. We may also do a mini-motorkhana again depending on what people feel like on the day. Cost: $125 Please contact me to book a place.
  3. Howdy, I assume this is still going ahead? Do we have an idea of numbers from here and Supras?
  4. Do you have a preferred engine builder and tuner in mind?
  5. I'm hoping that my car will be back on the road by then, but I'm not sure. If it is I'll be there
  6. lol - so true!
  7. That's what I thought too - I came to the thread to welcome him to the dark side
  8. lol thanks - if I had a working car I would I'd be keen to come out and grab some photos though
  9. If it's stock you shouldn't have too many problems. From my experience with the Canberra RTA they do seem to be a little harsh on imports, but provided you're inside the rules there's nothing they can do to you.
  10. Thanks guys - it was great fun. We'll be looking to organise another in the future - perhaps as part of the elusive Supra/Skyline series of events we have been talking about.... Anyway, here are some more photos - these ones are all from Mark Burke (http://www.flickr.com/photos/markburke/). A big thanks to him for coming along just to take photos!
  11. I might try to come along and take some photos if that's ok
  12. 2JZ-GTE
  13. Howdy guys, The ACT Supra Club had it's first skid/drift day last weekend.... we had a good diverse mix of cars, including two skylines, a gemini, a couple of silvias, a wrx, a commodore, and of course the Supras. Here are some photos and a short video for anyone interested. It would be great to organise a combined Supra and Skyline day sometime soon!
  14. I spotted a skyline reverse into a car in the ANU Engineering carpark today at lunch time I fee bad for him - first someone stole his spot (he was waiting with his indicator on for ages), then as he reversed up to move to a new place he hit the car behind him. I don't think the damage was too bad though...
  15. Ok guys it's now full. There is a chance that a couple of us will drop out (including me if my car's not back on the road), so if anyone else is interested I'll put you on a reserve list.
  16. Hi, I got your PM - I'll reply in a sec.... but the ACT Supra Club will be making a lump-sum payment to Derek, and there's a little extra included in the cost to cover the drinks/food/trophies, so it's best if you pay into the ACT Supra Club account - I'll get the detials for you ASAP. I gave you guys very late notice so don't wory so much about the cutoff.
  17. Hi guys, this is now open to everyone. Details: When: Sunday the 29th of June Where: Sutton Road driver training centre, (2 mins from Queanbeyan, 10mins from Canberra City Centre) Time: 8:00am start, all day (we have the skid pan booked for 8 hours!) Cost: $110 - this includes a BBQ lunch and drinks We need a 50% deposit by the 26th of May to secure the track Description: We are set at 20 participants maximum. The day will be run by Dereck from Fifth Gear Motorsports. For those of you who haven't met him, he is very friendly and a very good teacher. Throughout the day you will be free to go out on your own, or have Dereck come along to give you some pointers. No prior skill or experience is necessary, and Dereck will have you sliding in no time! We will be out on the skid track, which is a short track with large run-offs, so there is very little chance of damage to your car. The track will be wet, so tyre wear is very minimal. There will be two cars at a time on the track, spaced half a track apart. This means there is no risk of a collision. The day will be structured as follows: In the morning there will be a 4 hour skid/drift session on the track We will break for a BBQ lunch Another 2 hours practice on the track Then we will set up a Motorkahna style competition Lastly we will present a few awards Here are some videos from when I attended one of the public Skid/Drift days with Fifth Gear - you can get an idea of what's involved and what the track looks like. And here is a link to the Fifth Gear website with some more information and a video www.fifthgear.com.au/skidanddrift.html Everything is included in the cost, including lunch, drinks, track hire, Dereck's time, and trophies for the awards. This is a great opportunity to have some legal, safe, fun in your car, and develop your skills. Any questions feel free to contact me.
  18. I forgot about this! I was going to head out and take some photos of you guys Next time I guess...
  19. ESP (Gilmore road in Queanbeyan) always gets my recommendation.
  20. Ahh - shows my ignorance when it comes to Skylines :-) Nice to meet you
  21. Hi guys, I'm a Supra owner, but with the ongoing discussions about combined Skyline/Supra events in the ACT I thought I'd take a look over here :-) I drive a 1995 Toyota Supra. It's fairly stock, just a few little things - FMIC, Pod filter, Microtech ECU, front and rear strut-braces, AVCR boost controller, parallel twin mode for (as opposed to the factory sequential setup) and some small cosmetic stuff. It was a bit of a lemon when I bought it, so I was fairly bitter about the whole thing for a while, but I've sorted out most of the issues and am starting to enjoy it a lot more lately. I damaged the front bumper recently, so my short-term goals are to replace the front bumper, replace the clutch (it's slipping), fix some details in the interior, and finish my stereo installation. Down the track I'll either go for a single turbo or sell it and buy a 2nd hand Lotus Elise and a daily - will cross that bridge in a year or so Currently makes 234rwKw on 14psi Some photos: and a video from a recent skid day with FifthGear (you can see the tape where I damaged the front bar) - I met one of you there, but I can't remember your name sorry! Blue R32 GTR from memory? Anyway, nice to meet you all
  22. I'll back that up - I've been to him a couple of times now and he's been very helpful, and very good! I always get my car worked on and serviced by ESP in QBN, and have nothing but praise for them.
  23. I once asked permission to take photos of a Mini Cooper S there, and was turned away.... now I see it's so you can save the good locations for yourself
  24. Hi guys, Sorry I didn't run my car, but the clutch is slipping so there wasn't much point! Was good to come along and watch all the same. Didn't really take any photos of the cars, but here are two I did get:
