  1. Having started on a Stagea conversion of an r32 GTS4, because it was the "cheapest", the costs on a full RB Build up are very high, so much so that the RB26 and RB30 sump adaptor, don't look so bad after throwing dollars. Taking your NA and going plus a turbo is also worth considering if e85 is in your area. I'm more of a single turbo fan, which steered me from starting with the rb26. There are a lot of cheap gtr r33s around. I only started with a GTS4 because the price was very low. My vote is RB30 plus adaptor because my Stagea conversion will wind up fairly pricey any way.
  2. Have them as a daily on a Magna, quite good for this stuff.
  3. Always interesting to hear practice over theory. I'm still interested in twil scroll, as an experiment at my cost. BMW and SAAB are running it lately, but that certainly doesn't make it any better!
  4. A single Twin scroll has less plumbing than the twins. May spool earlier by design. Opportunity to high mount (debatable benefit). Either option depends on the turbo engine, entire set up, what you want etc.
  5. The answer may be in tracking down a twin scroll set up in the 35 housing side. I'm seeing if this can happen.
  6. Seems the quickest solution would be Stao from hypergear, for a better turbo, and Trent from Status Tuning. There would be more reward in searching forced induction performance, and working out your own combo.
  7. A very thorough plan and build, I will be following the "red twin" of my differents themed GTS4 build.
  8. I looked at the 25/30, why up grade the rb20 by halves. Staying RB25 as the upgrade, much stolen and learned from blind elks posts. The adaptor problem, and not being able to close the bonnet, seemed enough for me. What's happening with mine. Big dollars by my standards buying the forged pistons, rods, engine kit, over the next weeks. Like a lot of people, I was stunned by the cost of a quality oil pump. The Stagea block is stripped and being machined. The head is off for a service. Not wanting a half baked manifold leads me into contact with Kyle from 6 Boost, and some pretty interesting build options/helpful suggestions from Kyle.
  9. regarding the 4wd adapter plate. Once you solve the adaptor plate. Closing the bonnet can be a challenge in some R32 awds with an RB30 block.
  10. Great that your going for "the ultimate" rb block. You sound tenacious enough to sort this out.
  11. My project is about upgrading an R32 GTS 4 coupe, cheap purchase off e-bay. The goals are to take advantage of the automatic box (converter and shift kit, matched to turbo) and ATESSA all wheel drive. After reading blind elk's posts, I bought a Stagea bottom end, and RB 25det top from the kind traders of this forum. The goal is plenty of power, but with traction and easy drive ability. I'm having a heap of fun on the forum reading "forced induction performance" for my engine build "hopes dreams and aspirations", and seeing Chris Rogers start a similar but different project. My current stage is the big spending, motor and turbo is about to begin.
  12. All r32 gts4 upgrade searching on this forum seem to lead to posts by blind elk, and dstroy!
  13. I got a stagea block for $100 from a kind member of the forum. (More are out there). It's now easy to run up 8K dollars on parts - forged internals, gaskets, quality oil pump etc then local assembly etc etc. . Plenty of engine builders then want 3k dollars for their "name". At the current exchange rate the RIPS 17.5 K may drop down to an astronomical 13k aussie for a short block. The gap from a locally assembled forged Jun/ Tomei/Nitto Stagea RB25 block isn't that far. Using an RB26 which also doesn't require a sump adaptor, also starts to look less silly. All the options are better than the RB 20. Cheers.
  14. I guess car projects aren't for wealth creation. To me that's what jobs are for. Having said that the neighbours SUV on hire purchase isn't exactly the best use of money either.
  15. "Well restoring it as a keeper is sane rather than mad"
  16. Glad to finally hear from you. i'm a Sydneysider and can pick up at this price.
  17. Hats off to you for saving a GTS4. I often get questioned about my interest in fixing mine up. I think they are a worthwhile vehicle. Currently driving a turbo ford, I think awd is a good addition to a turbo car and improves it's "real world" (rain etc) usability.
  18. I'm planning a similar build, I was wondering which Toie cams you went with? Thanks.
  19. Get a professional to do it. The G sensor attesa module can be very expensive to repair/replace if damaged by the install. I think the adjustable torque split is what would make the gts4 very enjoyable.
  20. Interested in pipe diameter, what turbo made for, split pulse or not etc.
  21. Sent you a pm trying to clarify how payment and delivery would work etc.
  22. Yes I initially bid for one on e-bay, was lucky to be out bid. Had rear quarter panel rust, probably means more as you say. Bought one off e-bay later, still around half the Carsales price, relieved the body isn't too bad. Main problem is the "back yard tuner" factor. Atmo BOV badly fitted FMIC, stuffed drive shafts, signs of paddock bashing etc. I still prefer the "snow car" image to the "tow car" image. That's what Ford wagons with leaf springs are for.
  23. LOL GTS4 to tow! I agree with the GTR vs GTS4 Comments. For me and Chris the project start savings over a GTR are still at least 15k dollars. The cheapest GTR will need alot of money thrown at it any way. In my case I wanted AWD in the finished car, I wanted to retain the automatic, and I prefer the single turbo look when finished. So my preference was to start a Stagea block GTS4 conversion of an already auto GTS4 than, try to finish with that from a higher cost point in a GTR. But now when I finish modding I will add Haymen reese tow bar to the list!
  24. Still have them? PM to negotiate, or my e-mail in ID
  25. My approach to a modded skyline in NSW 1. Engineers Report 2. Noise test 3. Emission test as per e85 on this forum 4. Local member I'm a veteran and don't want harrassment 5. I'm close friends with a sympathetic lawyer
