  1. Get a Hypertune then. One throttle body only. Satisfying to look at. Having one, I've has some tell me it might reduce response. NA or diesel for response any way.
  2. 25 crank 25 pistons, 26 crank 26 pistons
  3. If he's doing all that start with a stagea or 26 block.
  4. Great to have an update! can see plenty of hard work there.
  5. A 250awkw 2.5 or 2.6 is going to be better to drive than a 250awkw rb20.
  6. I still think you'll find it cheaper and the result more powerful and torquey installing a well chosen stagea
  7. I got my Stagea stuff by placing wanted adds on here. There are multiple japanese autoparts specialist importers who probably want an order/deposit, most of the time to bring in a stagea neo. The neo is arguably the most modern of the three motors with GTR rb26 bits, strong rods, solid head, but VVT as well. The gtr/rb26 means you'll have to decide if you want the twin turbo spaghetti, (and twin steel over ceramic turbos), will give you the individual throtlle bodies, solid head, and no VVT, rb26s are generally lying around at most wreckers. But then you might need one with a 33 crank, and steel turbos, upping the budjet again. IMHO. The Stagea neo is the best engine for your goal. You may have to order one in. Consider a RIPS bottom end or motor!
  8. Stagea rb25, (going into my gts4), stagea neo are my pics, see blind elks posts. The rb26 gos in. With all, expect some unexpected work.
  9. CP pistons manley rods usa, and you'l have cash left over for a 33 crank or an oil pump.
  10. I think all Nissan projects are a "waste of money". GTRs are hard to sell at the moment. If it's a Nissan project, then it's what you enjoy. Classic muscle cars are better money wise. Leaving your money in the bank even better. I still think doing a stagea Neo upgrade would be good.
  11. Chatted further with a Plazaman Plenum distributer, they recommend high flow injectors for non neo head rb25det. Seems like quite a limitation for this Plenum.Time for a greddy, gtr, or hypertune.
  12. Have you spoken with Plazmaman them selves? Hardly a bargain basement product? I have had a few terse e-mails raising this issue with a plaza supplier, who was agianst me going hypertune.
  13. I went with hypertune, (RB25) as you can get the throttle body, fuel rail etc in 1 stop. Now needs a mod for VVT to work.
  14. I like the Octavia for the reasons you stated. Considered the Mazda 3 or 6?
  15. Price on front diff if you have it. Thanks.
  16. Nice clean R32, good choice for transplant. Will be interested in how the NEO gos.
  17. Daily driving Sydney is just grid lock. I gave up driving on work Parramatta to Darlinghurst in last Fridays rain after 2 hours of trying to drive 30k, your average rb 26 would have melted by then, I was in a dsg diesel hatch. My other comment is mine was a factory auto, as cars get older the auto of the species is often tighter, neater and less abused, because such cars are less attractive to people like you! I have thought of manual conversion.
  18. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/164666-project-24/ Quite a saga cpmpared with a 25 or 26
  19. Stop start traffic defines Sydney. Mine isn't a daily. The Ford version F6 4.0L6 and ZF 6 speed auto was a great combo. I think my rb25 with gt35, re403a trans, may be less so. One a idea is using stall on the converter to stall it into the turbos sweet spot. Accelerative performance in drag not circuit also relies on area under the curve, an auto is just floored on the throttle, while a manual loses thrust during the shifting. Plenty of fast manuals. It's preference and what you want to do with it.
  20. I think the r32gts4 and r32gtr have pretty much identical drive train both atessa based (part time all wheel drive). Gts4 low powered rb20 for slippery conditions snow etc. So a four door gts4 with a decent engine is not too far off a four door gtr at all.
  21. I used performance metalcraft in Sydney. Leon was good to work with, makes a nice sump.
  22. Any thoughts on separating box and bottom end? Interested in the gear box.
  23. The transmission choice has been difficult. I wish there was something 3 speed and simple in all wheel drive like C4 ford. Instead the powerglide is available in awd, seen a one off TH400 on Calais turbo. As well Like most people I want some communication at decision time. The plan at the moment is re403a from the 300zx turbo, which has larger components than the re401a in the car, and mating that to the awd housing. The job's going to MV automatics, thanks to communication about the job etc. Other trans builders are yet to get back to me......
  24. Where are you headed with the transmission? Going manual? or further auto trans sorting?
