  5. The time frame is normally 5year/100,000km. my R34 had only done 45,000 when i changed it. the car was 10years old at that point and the back side of the belt was starting to crack.
  6. I maybe over doing it here but. You say it overheated? by how much and for how long? these things have alloy heads, i.e. to hot for to long and your head starts to warp (Very bad) Has it used any coolant at all? might be something to look into
  7. have you removed the bolt that holds it in?
  8. To start u should check your charge rate from your alternator. It should charge at around 14v. Next check your battery voltage with the car off It needs to be above 12.3v(minimum) or the car will not start (if you can get your hands on a correct battery tester, test the CCA rating as well, even if voltage is good the battery can still be shagged). My theory is that you are getting a bit of water in the alternator some how and it is not charging correctly. Hope that helps FYI: taking your car for a short drive will not recharge the battery. You need to drive atleast 50kms with minimal additional electrics on to just recharge what it takes to start a car. (that goes for every one not just this issue)
  9. does it have any problem when cold? How many Km's has the car done? Like it is hitting the limiter? My car had a similar problem at one point around 40 000km mark. When accelerating hard it would be like it hit limiter and the tacho would sometimes jump around like crazy even at 3000rpm, it would also miss and carry on when hot, sometimes when cold anyway after about a month of trying to figure it out a light came on the dash i took it into work and got it put on the nissan consult, i had a code for the O2 senor (which has main effect when car is hot) so i replaced it and problem fixed. In short your problem maybe the O2 sensor starting to fail? maybe?? just a suggestion hope it helps
  10. The belt it's self will not be noisy, the big issue is doing it to tight. With the gates t/belt if it is to tight the coloured coating on the outside tends to rub off on the pulleys which then causes the noise which people just think is due to the belt it's self
