Svi And J-spec
Brandon replied to Brandon's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Yea thanks for all the recommendations. I've kinda got an idea as to who I will go with now. Probably Carizma or SVI i guess. I prefer the phone or face to face conversation as compared to just email. -
wrxhoon: Ah. Thats exactly what I meant by maintenence. All cars need their regular servicing etc and I'm aware that its gonna be more pricey as compared to a standard car but my question was will it always die on you and having major problems. And now I have an answer from someone who owns 1 and at least I know what I've thought is realistic. As I have said early I dont intend to push it that hard as to the limit and the car would be around grade 4 and above, which is why I dont it'll have any major problem unless I'm like so freaking unlucky... (fingers crossed). Anyway thanks for your comment, really appreciate it.
-
AlexR34: Chill mate, what I meant by maintenence/repair etc is major ones thats gonna cost a a few Ks. (e.g. 5k). I know servicing turbos are expensive but what I would like to know is do they get sick easily. Example, alternator spoil etc?
-
choyda: lolz. I hope for that to happen. I just had a look on japaneseusedcars.com and there's heaps of gtrs on auction
-
emsta: yea I have. Seems like I'll be going with either J-spec or SVI which is based in brisbane. But it'll still gonna be sometime before I start hunting for it seriously. I believe I have done enough research for now and I'm clear that I want a vspec. So, for the time being, I'll just have to bear with it cause I'm still saving money for the car. Its always good to have some spare cash on yourself instead of getting a full loan on the car. Justcar quoted me about 1.4k per year on comprehensive too, which is within my estimate. 1 last thing, I dont quite understand the compulsory (CTP) insurance in queensland, is that included in the rego which is about 700 per year with a 6cyclinder car or its on top of it? SS8_Gohan: cool, seems to me that a lot of people in this forum got their car through J-Spec. Yea I know what you're referring to, your import dealer would fall under the dealer catagory in my list =P A general question for people with 34gtr, does it get sick often? I mean just normal drive and not thrashing it. I didnt really think about that question cause I thought its quite a new car with a good engine and if you dont do anything to the stock other than maybe an exhaust change, it shouldnt give the owner too much problem. You guys have been very helpful even though I'm thinking of getting the car next year. lolz. Thanks Cheers
-
SS8_Gohan: Hah, I guess thats a very clear statement, importers for me then =). I thought the same too when I saw the prices online. They're like a few Ks off the standard imports and its just too good to be true with the low mileage.

Can someone check this car for me? If you can tell me where to get the program myself that'll be better than bugging people to decode for me. http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/...4&make_id=5 VIN: 6u9000bnr34 Cheers

gdz34: Yea I know what I'm after but still dont know who to get it from currently. Some pros and cons about getting from importer and dealers I've figured out are listed below. for the same price. Dealer: Pros - able to test drive - check everything myself - if I'm getting from local, I'll probably be getting a 2001 series as its possible to get a secured car loan if the car's below 7yrs with HSBC. (2% lower than unsecured) Cons - I dont know hows the condition of the car when comparing with an auction grade. (the dealer tell me they're better than auction grade cause its a dealer's car which I think is bs when all the GTRs are no longer 1st hand and in some way they'll probably be an auction grade 2 or 3 car which they managed to fix it up and sell it for a higher price) - limited choices Importer: Pros - able to see a detail of the car's history in the check sheets provided - slightly cheaper - more selection/options Cons - no able to test drive - risk of having getting a lemon (but with SVI i doubt this will happen as they provide money back gurantee) - dont know which importer to go with As for whats the car gonna be used for? It'll be a weekend car or a car that'll make me smile when I'm on it. As I'm working FT, I wouldnt be driving that much. As for track, doubt I'll be going anytime soon. Maybe in the future, but not now. Basically it'll be a personal achievement as the 34gtr has always been my dream car and since I'm in Aus, might as well make my dream come true. Most of the gtr listed on carsale arent vspec and they're going for some really crazy prices. I'll probably take my time in looking for 1 thats good and within my budget but I'll most probably be getting a vspec1 if not 2, cause I dont need to do anymore things to the car. And like you guys have said, vspec has a higher resale value not only due to the difference in spec but also they're usually newer. But ultimately I see myself importing 1 due to the choices I would have in the auction.

sewid: sounds like i'm being charge more for the import due to shipping compliance and maybe the agent fees. SVI is based in brisbane and thats where i am, so what you said does not apply. there's another fee for the japanese that works for him and thats like 160k yen or 180k yen... which i think is the same thing as what j-spec has for their agent fees in japan (100k yen). seems like i'm being quoted 2-3k more than what i should be paying... but then again he said all these are estimate figures so they can be the worst senario. but serious you've provided a lot of info which I cant seem to find online. cheers mate. did you import yourself or through an importer? 1 quick question, how do i know the gtr is a genuine v spec etc? who do I call?
-
sewid: yea I dont mind spending the money if the pads need changing but there's another thing, he quoted 2.5k on shipping and 100 on insurance which I find a bit odd cause i thought shipping would be lower than 2k. if like you've said, he's over pricing the pads, that'll mean i'm paying about 1k more for the car. he also charge 2k+GST for his the service as well which is 1k+ more than J-spec and overall, the car will cost 2k+ more than importing with J-spec... anyone heard of Brad Bottcher Used Cars at Maryborough? they've got a 1999 white vspec for sale at $47.
-
sewid: Cool, hopefully the import doesnt need any pad changing, SVI told me they'll cost around 2.2k. I just saw a white V-spec on carsale thats going for $47k, sounds kinda dodgy with the low Ks (30000km) and its a v-spec. Looks too good to be true, but if it is, it'll look good with a carbon bonnet with the extra money I've alocated. With just a budget of below $53k, I can probably get just a normal GTR from imports if I want blue or black, still dont know should I wait till next year for it or not.
-
godzla: Yea thats a nice one for that price, pretty decent too. But I'll be getting it probably in March next year so, hopefully there's something good in the market for me at that time. Thanks for the reference. I'll probably be going with SVI if I'm importing it since I'm in Brisbane, and communication is simpler that way. I seems like theres very few people from Brisbane that drives a performance vehicle as compared to the other 2 major cities, Sydney/Melbourne. BTW, anyone have any idea how much the gtr brembo brake pads cost these days? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/ip...de%2520matchany This guy seems to be an importer eh? lolz. There's a bayside blue 1 now, and the price's good too. I've just called him and seems like he's got a couple of GTRs in stock but the blue one on carsale's not a v spec.

Svi And J-spec
Brandon replied to Brandon's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
every comment/suggestion/feedback are welcome =) -
Hi all, anyone who used SVI or J-spec here have any feedback? As I am based in Brisbane, where SVI is I'm more keen to go with them but J-Spec seems to be a very popular option. Just wanna hear some feedback from people who've used SVI before. PM me if you need to. Cheers

Need Insurance? Want Cheaper Insurance?
Brandon replied to two40's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Hi all, I'm planning to get a 34gtr next yr and i'm currently doing research for all the expenses that will incur. i've done up an excel sheet for all cost cept for insurance and rego. i'm from singapore, 25 this yr with a clean driving history, however, my license was only converted this year after i got my PR. i have been staying in brisbane for the past 2.5years with postal code 4122, car will be garaged, driven mostly on fri/sat/sun as i'm working during wkdays and dont wanna risk parking outside, working as an engineer. never own a car in australia but driven (friend's). any help will be much appreciated. -
mass iv: nono... you all got me wrong. what i meant was to wait for 35gtr to be released hoping the price of 34gtr will drop slight. Alicia: There's not really a lot to choose from in the list on carsale. I'm actually after a black 1. but like mass said I'll probably take my time and do some research. its a lot of money after all. it'll be a no regret car for sure once i get it. congratz on the new gtr =)
-
Choyda: I was speaking to SVI in Brisbane yesterday and they told me the compliancy wouldnt be a problem because they have a money back gurantee for it. I guess I'll wait for 35gtr to be out and see hows the pricing like, since it not gonna be too long till they release it.
-
Gohan: thanks for the list, yea there's a lot of selection. i've seen everyone of those on carsale.com as you've listed. the $49k one looks a bit hmm... with that low mileage. well yea i'm actually looking for a black one but none is listed and after calling svi(import company), they did a search on the auction and the price of a black one is around $65k to get it imported here and for a blue 1 is around $52k both v-spec. i guess the black one is too pricey.

wrxhoon: Yea, thanks for the advice. Somehow, I'm just the kind of guy that would plan everything, find options and work things out before actually proceeding with the plan. The figure doesnt have to be exact but my point of saying 1.3k-1.5k is like a rough guide for myself. I know when I do get the car, there may be some addition cost, like accidents? repairs? modifications? But just to be on the safer side, I would be more prepare if I know a rough figure. Like I said, I dont have much knowledge on Cars in Australia but 1 thing for sure, its better to speak to someone like you guys, cause majority of the people I talk to just tell me "you crazy? for more than 50k you can get a decent beemer or new car and you choose to buy an 8yr old car." I look at carsale.com there's not really a lot of options out there and I'm staying in Brisbane. Anyone have an idea on how much it'll cost me to get a decent V spec here or to import 1?
-
Snowman: You're making me think twice and maybe consider S15 instead =(
-
Thanks for the infos, I've always think 34gtr is my dream car and hopefully it wouldnt be a dream for long. But still I hope to get my hands on some figures from someone who owns a GTR or experienced with loans etc, roughly how much am I looking(all cost added up together considering petrol to be at $350 per month) at every month if I were to buy it.
-
a20089: I'll probably have 20k saved up for that. As for driving, it'll probably be a weekend car since I'm working full time. I reckon about 1 tank per week. I saw a couple of ads online and I still dont really have a rough idea on how much to pay for a standard GTR, v-spec and v-spec 2. Snowman: Which do you reckon would be a good buy if I am having a budget of 1.3k a month on the car? I'm shit when it comes to loans etc. Please advise. Cheers
-
Hi all, I'm kinda new here so pardon me if I sound ignorant. I'm actually looking at getting a 34gtr in a couple of months and would like to know what kinda figures am I looking at per month to support the car. Cost would include petrol, registration, insurance (if there's any), loans etc. Anyone with experience in this can help me out here cause I'm quite new to Australia's car industry? My friend recommended that I get a normal GTR and buy the N1 turbo myself instead of getting the V spec which is like 10k more (say a normal GTR would cost around 50-60?)? Anyone has any comments to that? Suggestions, recommendations or comments are welcome, I think they'll help me decide on which model to choose from. Last thing, my friend recommended that I should import 1 instead of buying one here too, because I would like to have a black 1. Although there are pros to it but I'm quite skeptical about not able to test drive it 1st and have a feel of how is it. Comments? Thanks in advance. Brandon.
