  1. Saw a black V35 with plates ending in 99R yesterday along Belconnen Way - around 5:30 PM. Nice clean looking car, anyone from around here?
  2. Do you have an idea on the repair cost? How's the ride quality with the 20's? You had comments on earlier threads about wishing it were 19 rather than 20. What's your suspension set up at the moment? Thanks.
  3. i had the same problem a while back when the battery died. it took a while but it looks like the ecu was able to make the adjustment. i was thinking of bringing it in for service because it was annoying (being a manual) but it eventually fixed itself. but like i said, it took a few weeks. have not had the problem since.
  4. i know what you mean. spotted a carribean blue coupe last tuesday at a caltex station in belconnen then a silver coupe with chrome wheels in dunlop (ACT) last saturday. used to be that i would go months before seeing 1, now it's 2 in a week.
  5. In case anyone is interested, this is a good write up on restoring the headlight lens. I remember this being discussed some time ago but thought it might help other members with regards to the hazy lens that the V35 tend to have over time due to oxidation. I myself have used PlastX in the past with considerable success. The article covers the use of grit pads and some photos. http://www.canadiandriver.com/2009/06/18/p...tion-system.htm Cheers. Rob
  6. owned a 2002 altima when i lived there, not a bad car (interior materials could have been better) and looked great compared to other cars in its class. i've heard that the new altima has addressed the interior shortcomings. i'm with rs73, i think it looks better than the g35 sedan. the coupe is a looker too, imho.
  7. the part no. on the receipt says N*B727A79925 Filter-Pollen (don't know if Nissan needs the N* or whether it's just a code). if it's any help, the location code on the receipt is AL309. it used to be $61.20 incl GST. goodluck in finding one. it's a lot cheaper in the US but with the exchg rate and shipping cost, it's not too far from the local nissan price these days.
  8. you may know this already but just in case you don't, the manual says you need to lower your windows before disconnecting the batteries. something to do with the way the windows are sealed up when closing the door (as it drops down a bit when you open the door - for the coupe). goodluck and let us know how you go. cheers.
  9. bolt is there to prevent unitiated from rotating the wheels. coupe has staggered sizes so with the bolt, you can't put the front wheels at the rear.
  10. changed mine last year. you can get it from a nissan dealership for around $110 and replace it yourself - it's a pain to do it though as you have to remove a lot to get to it. it's way cheaper if you can get it from the US, i think it worked out to be about A$25 including shipping to a US address. not really necessary to replace it but it can get quite dirty after a while and a dirty filter can give off a bad smell when you switch on the aircon.
  11. for those of you in queensland and about to get rego - if you can get a quote from someone that nrma can't match, nrma will pay you $50 under their quick 50 campaign (not sure when this promo ends though). just fax the quote to 1 300 364 238, attention to Resolution Quick 50. it's not just for the v35 either, as long as the vehicle is garaged in queensland. i guess if you want details, you can call 1 800 640 595 (nrma quick 50 section). hope someone can get money from them.
  12. in case anyone's interested, here's a video review of the current g37 in the US. looks the same as the v36 pictures except for the rear end which looks a lot better. this is the first part of the review only. http://www.oncars.com/index.php?videoid=128
  13. i was quoted something like $250-$280/wheel a few months back by jax quickfit and they said it would be better off to have the 2 wheels (as in one whole side, front and rear left or front and rear right) re-sprayed together as it is apparently difficult to get a consistent shade with shadow chrome. you could end up having a slightly different shade on one wheel if you don't do it in pairs. not obvious up close but can be if looking from a distance - i've read this too in the g35 forum. a cheaper option would be to re-spray them into silver/alloy, about $140/wheel but i wasn't keen on doing it.
  14. hmmm, i guess you'll need to bring lots of toilet paper! sorry, couldn't help it.
  15. the v36 does have a better interior than the v35. i agree, nissan is terrible when it comes to design and materials used for the interior. i'm not totally sold on the v36 exterior. maybe it's one of those that will grow on you. the rear spoiler looks bad....
  16. setting the alarm then opening the door with the key would disable the alarm (if correctly installed). if you want to try it, set the alarm while you're inside, wait a few seconds then open the door. that should set it off. the dealer option system appears to have a motion sensor - at least on the one that I have. when armed any movement inside the car will set it off.
  17. you can try getting a personal loan as it's probably going to be quite difficult to get a car loan for an import. thing is, the interest will be a bit higher but the bank won't really care what car you buy or generally on what you spend the money on. they're only interested that you can pay it off as it's treated as an unsecured loan. i guess the advantage is that you can finance the whole amount (as long as you can pay) and when you do get the car, there will be no liens on it so you can easily sell it later on. good luck.
  18. Great, thanks for sharing that. Was the install straightforward - no mods required? I've always wondered about the tranny on the V35, 1st to 2nd has always been iffy although not a huge problem once you get used to it. I don't know if it's the same with the Z350. How's the clutch, it is 'softer' now and easier to modulate?
  19. a bit late but i saw a silver coupe last sunday, about 2:30 pm on the federal highway on my trip from sydney to canberra. it was going pretty fast, i was doing 120 and he just passed me a few others (i wasn't driving the v35). doesn't seem to be afraid to get a ticket.
  20. i think as far as build quality is concerned, the v35 is right up there. you may hear a few sqeaks and rattles from time to time but most cars do anyway. also remember that most of the cars out there are from 2003-2004 model years, they're 4-5 yrs old already and bought used. the materials (plastics) could be better, i agree. nisssan/infiniti received a lot of negative feedback in north america because of this so later models have improved a lot - personally i still think nissan lags behind mazda, honda and toyota when it comes to plastics used but that's subjective. however, in other aspects, it's comparable to luxury models. take the bmw 325 ci for instance. have you seen the interior of a 2005 325ci? the dash may be great but the seats (leather) look like they're at least 5 yrs old. they're wafer thin and they fade so much faster. my cousin drives one and he can't believe the difference between how his car looks (interior) compared to my 2004, my v35 looks a lot newer (also with full leather). this coming from someone who looks after his car, he's not someone who trashes his cars. use the back seat of the beemer and inspect the rear windows. the lining around the glass looks crappy, it doesn't exude luxury at all. this coming from a car that costs more than $70k. i'm sure it's the same with the 330 ci, as only the engine and some other expensive options are added/different. the bmw drives great, the engine sounds so much sweeter (stock exhaust), extremely balanced but will struggle to keep up with the v35. the only complaint i have with the materials used (especially the plastics around the radio/nav controls) is that you can easily scratch it. but if you're careful enough, it's not a problem.
  21. coupe is a series 1. easiest way to tell w/ the auto is the shifter. series 2 is just 1 column from park all the way to the gears. for series one, you have to push to the left (or right) to access the semi-auto feature, basically the + and (-) representing upshift or downshift. haven't figured out the quickest way to spot series 2 for the manual though. the quality of the silver lining on the dash has improved on the later models but a bit hard to tell just by looking at the pictures.
  22. shops that sell rims should be able to repair the scratches. i asked jaxquickfit tyres here in canberra and they quoted $280/tyre to repaint them!! apparently it's one of the more expensive colours to repair, i think they said it was shadow chrome. you'll need to repaint all 4 or at least 2 at a time (2 from the same side) as the shade might not match. went to other shops, got the same quote. let us know how you go. i would be interested to know if you find better prices there.
  23. congrats!! post some pics when you get it. how long did they say it will take to ship? just something to think about - you may need the original exhaust for compliance.
  24. Had the band expander installed in Sydney last Monday. Worked great while I was there, got Nova 96.9, 104.9 and 106.5 easily, good clear signal although I was warned that reception can be fuzzy going through tunnel (which I did not get to try). Works great here in Canberra as well but I needed to manually tune the stations rather than using the auto seek function. Installed by the mob where I got my car. It was part of the deal when I got the car so I don't really know how much they charge. Anyone interested should just talk to Chris or Bettina at 02 9542 4280. They're in Kirrawee. The guy who installed it took about 40 min., he didn't even have to take down the whole dash or pull out the head unit. As far as I know they use the PB2000 expander which from what I can get from the net, has a built in booster. Works by expanding 10 and 20 Mhz. Weird set up, for stations below 100, subtract 10 to get the japanese dial. So for Nova 96.9, Bose radio would show 86.9. To get stations over 100, subtract 20 so 104.9 shows 84.9 on the dial. The expander does this automatically. Problem occurs if there is a double up, say there is a live station on both 96.9 and 106.9. Since 96.9 is below 100, it would normally be 86.9 on the dial which is the same as 106.9 (106.9-20 = 86.9). Rare, but it can happen, I think in this case you won't get any clear signal from both stations.
