  1. Hate to disagree with again on a different thread but thats incorrect I have a bottle of redline oil (light shockproof) which i used on my gear box. It says on the bottle that the oil is good for up to 400 000kms. Ill upload a pic when i find one on my pc. EDIT: Found the pic... You will probably need to zoom in on the sticker that has been circled in blue (Save picture as then use windows picture view to zoom in). The bottle is at my workshop. Next time im there ill snap a better pic. But this will have to do for now. Or alternatively, go to this link.. is a bit easier to see http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm33/br...n79/redline.jpg
  2. 140 000km in 3 years? wow thats alot of kms. There are no lower km crewmans out there?
  3. Splitfires are reputable brand and i have trust in the company that they are indeed made in japan. That goes the same with any jap brand or product like HKS, Apexi etc etc. They are proven to work and be effective numerous times in many different applications, which is why i dont mind to pay extra money for them. My motto when it comes to my car is: Do it once, Do it right. Unlike JJR and other brands which people are still wondering how good they are; they have yet to prove themselves. In the end it comes down to "You get what you pay for". Even though splitfires are a bit overpriced atm with the aussie dollar its still worth it as your paying for a proven product and not left wondering "Well they still be working in 2 months time?" If any of u guys want to buy JJR or other brands thats totally up to you. This is only my opinion. Id rather save up longer and buy quality parts because thats just how i like to modify my cars.
  4. u get get reinforced latches which allow you to not get bonnet pins. But imo they look nice so you mite as well get some!
  5. hmm... Made in China or Made in Japan I didnt buy a skyline to save money, so i can tell you which one i will be going for.
  6. Sh*T! ... i hope u get it back... ill be keeping my eye out for sure. This just shows how important for you guys to get a pin code keypad installed in the car as well. So even with the keys the car cant be started until you've put typed in ur pin number. If anyone wants further info, pm me and ill let you know where to get it installed. O and its prob to post ur mobile number. So if we see anything we can get in touch with you straight away.
  7. Regardless of which oil i use, i will still change it at 5000kms. Its not like the oil wont get dirty...and if it doesn't, it means it aint cleaning the engine.
  8. er... semi synthetic?? Negative on that.. full synthetic only. Any high end brand will do... Motul 300v chrono 10-40... mobil 1 0-40.. etc etc. Just to let you guys know the R35 GTR comes factory filled with mobil 1 0-40, same with a heap of other hi end performance cars including my 300c SRT 8. At around $85 dollars per 5 litres its not cheap (However, still cheaper the 300v chrono). Before you say 0 - 40 is too thin, its not... its the same as the 300v chrono when warmed up. Its only thinner then the 300v chrono at cold start up. Which allows the oil to lubricate the engine faster. Once the engine warms up it will be the same thickness as the 300v Chrono. If its good enough for the 35 GTR im sure its good enough for yours =). This was also confirmed by a hi end performance workshop here in WA (xspeed). My 2 cents. O and ive been using Mobil 1 0-40 only in my r33 for the psat 2 years. Nothing to complain about.. and the cleaning properties it has gets all the crap out of the engine.
  9. I think you only got a period of 10 days to do so... This is why its best to pay via credit card... then can claim credit card fraud. Not to mention they give you 20 days to claim from memory.
  10. So are both of you saying high end coilovers which are built to be STIFF... DO NOT affect your traction in any way at all? Somehow i doubt this. If anything, its going to be a combination of the two. Having shagged suspension will also lessen your traction, as well as having over stiff suspension in the car in COMBINATION with sub standard or worn tyres. Obviously this is because when you take off from a stand start, the car is unable to "squat" down which in doing so provides more contact with the road, hence more traction. (Which is why most draggers will use STOCK suspension, as its perfect for achieveing this) The coil overs I'm using now are extremely stiff this is becuase that are the "drift" series of the the HKS Hipermax, which really is meant for race use only. According to HKS, they are stiff to help the driver enable to initiate the drift. After this a "helper" spring which is built into the rear coilovers then help to press the tyres to the ground, giving the driver more "feeling and control" on how his or her car is going. Due to this, HKS does recommend that the car with this suspension fitted uses "high grip radial tires" to help offset this. Having said this, I am running street tyres on my skyline. Fed 595SS. 235 FRont and 255 rear. When taking off in the wet ( at normal speeds and revs) SOMETIMES my rear tyres will spin a bit. This is a COMBINATION between Feds being not to great in the wet and my suspension set up being too stiff. However, when cornering, as long as i take it slow and be careful my car will not spin out or anything extreme like that. Thats My 2 cents on the matter.
  11. Can confirm that. I went up to zig zag one night to have a cruise... found that 4 patrol cars were covering both entrance and exit... Pulled us over quick smart
  12. im in love with my HKS hipermax Drift coils and i use my car on the street and as well have some fun on the tracks... the set up is perfect for getting that back end out and controlling it =)
  13. Not even a GTS T deserves that... a GTS maybe... IF THAT.
  14. o thats gregs (greg89) car from the forums here. =)
  15. Agreed. That prob equates to what? 30 seconds? Lets end the debate there. =)
  16. i like to fill mine up around half tank. Reason for this? I like to be prepared. I hate it when i go out and i see my tank is nearly empty and i have to go out of my way to fill it up. If i fill up around half tank it means i can wait until i pass by a BP and fill her up when its convenient to me. If however its at 1/4 tank left i have to go out of my way to fill it up. From my experience its never good to run a car on less then a 1/4 tank. As hard cornering and launching or even braking the petrol can run away form the pick up point. Stop being stingy people and just fill her up.
  17. Not sure if i agree with you Nathan. When i first bought my skyline, i did the math when it came to insurance. Just cars was the only people who would insure me at that time so what they offered was my only option. Basically they were wanting the following: $1450 a year for full comp $1500 dollar excess payment $460 dollar age excess payment ( i was 20 at the time). so adding them up $3410 a year ( if i claim once). Due to the fact i have a lot of tools at my disposal (including car hoist and the rest of it etc due to my dad being a big car fan) i decided they i could probably fix my car for a lot cheaper then that. For the past two years Ive decided against full comp insurance... due to these reasons, which is $2900 ive saved; which ive put away for a rainy day. Another reason being i only clock about 200 a week (thats 30km a day) in my skyline (yes its a daily, but i use parents car usually at night when i can) However, i might start to think about it again now that im older and the cost will be reduced. The only reason i can see insurance helping me out is if i write the car off, then i would get money back (minus the excess). I try my best not to speed on the roads or do anything stupid, however i know accidents can happen and its a risk i run. I feel that in my case the money is greater then the risk i run. i do however have 3rd party insurance + fire and theft. As other people shouldnt have to pay for my mistake. Thats my 2cents on the matter.
  18. lol.. Mike, i heard womens black stocking also work and can be taken off in a split second. Might wanna give that a go.
  19. is this some kind of bs advertising or what.
  20. i can confirm dick smith got some nice ones. Night vision and all.
  21. The thing is i offered to take out the audio and rims and return the car back to stock. Then i would be happy to sell off at around 17kish mark. But he said he wanted the audio and the rims. He called me multiple times asking me to accept 16k. It got to the point where i just didnt pick up his call.
  22. Agree on that. However, asking for 50% of the price is a bit much... and shows little to no respect. Ive been suffering the same thing. Selling a honda euro atm, at that time my asking price was 23k due to full alpine audio system, 19 inch rims and only 50 000ks on the clock.. got some dude call me up offer me 16k. Said similar things that my audio shouldn't increase the price and that there are "heaps" of 2004 euros with only 50 000ks on the clock. I just hung up.
  23. how come u and karl got different amounts of points yet same monetary fine?
  24. why the hell did someone smash it? Good luck on the fitment!
  25. ^ agreed However, if your excess is very high and it doesnt seem worth the 2000+ dollars to make a claim... just get third party insurance . That way if you hit someone you only have to pay around 500 bucks (based on my third party excess claim) to fix their car up. Then of course you got your car to fix yourself. 3rd party insurance should be no more then 500ish dollars per year. So there's really no excuses.
