  1. wow $1585 for a new starter motor, i just got mine done on Wed had it refurbished (re-grease + new brushes etc...) plus a 12 month warranty on the job/parts replaced only cost $209.00 (labour for removal/refit included). have you re-conditioned your one or did you just add grease to it? may be you could have a auto elect have a look at it next time you take it out. but only time will tell with my one if the screeeeeech comes back or not.
  2. car is booked in for this wed, just wanted a few opinions on the matter. was quoted $190.00 to have it taken out, regreased/fix brushes and put back in. is this price reasonable?
  3. Hello everyone, i need your help, my starter motor works the car starts every time i start it up, but the starter motor makes a schreeeeeeeeking noise when it starts. Is it fixable or do i need a new starter motor? i have searched but haven't found any answers. any advise/help is appreciated also would help anyone else in the future with this problem. thanks
  4. Now i know why R34 owners winge when they change the battery in the boot (pic for those who don't know), so much things to remove and put back. looks like i still had the battery from japan and it's so small, i don't need a battery that has a clear tube on it like the original one right?
  5. Hi everyone, i rotated my tyres yesterday and found that my front cv shaft boots are split on both sides. after research and a few phone calls this is what i found out: Pedders Suspension: replace both drive shafts and boots: $600.00 (labour included) Just Jap: selling refurbish drive shafts with new boots: $600.00 (postage and labour NOT included) Well known work shop: replace boots only: $600.00 (if need new drive shaft will cost even more) Question: has anyone got things done from Pedders? whats their rep like and are their parts any good? What do you experts reckon i should do? just get boots done and hope that shafts are ok, or get shafts done at the same time while everything is out?

just one more thing to add my ex was angry that when we are in the gtr i total ignore her and concentrate on driving, she said when us 3 are together it's like she doesn't exist. that night we made a spreadsheet to prove her point. Expense report GF vs GTR frequency girl friend frequency gtr new shoes only once $600.00 uhp tires about every year x4 $350.00 salon only once $220.00 Race Pace every 5000km $300.00 medical never Race Pace dyno tune 1 a year ~ $400.00 make up a few times $170.00 wax, polish every 3 months $30.00 1x bottle clothes a few times $1,300.00 nismo s-tune bodykit only 1 set of clothes ~ $7000.00 painted & fitted dinner/drinks every week $200.00 anything 98octane every 2-3 days ~ $60.00

well the GTR is family, the more you take care of it (wash, service) the more fun, reliable and friendly it is towards you (doesn't break down - less over all problems), like a gorgeous wife your bound to get attention (popo or what not) and she's bloody high maintenance that's for sure always wants a medical (dyno tune, service) the more i touch it and use it, it wants new shoes and not just any shoes has to be a brand name aswell and 4 of them to boot (UHP tyres) it drinks heaps and demands nothing but the best you can get (bp ultimate 98). but we all knew this was gonna happen, as human beings we get attached to things either humans or materialistic. and yes i've been on a race track.

was asked this by a pretty girl the other night "you can almost have any car you want, you've driven cars that cost a house but yet you chose a GTR? i mean wtf" i left it at that and walked off, well the main thing is everyone is different and prefer different things. what did it for me was the first time i drove one, a R32 GTR the handling of the car is like it's on rails in a straight line from a launch or around corners turning in late to the apex and planting it. when you accelerate you can instantly feel that the RB is designed to be reved and loves to accelerate everytime you drive it, it's feels like the car is edging you on "come on plant it" the engine doesn't sound right at lower rpms it's more happy and alive the faster it's going and higher rpms. it's not luxurious as a porche and isn't ment to be it's a pure grand tour racer. comfy but yet can haul ass when needed. what does everyone else think about a GTR?
  10. i agree with almost everything that's been said so far, but honestly only thing that's 100% is full comp insurance. anything else we do to make our cars safer is to make us feel better. R31nismoid is correct about opportunist and the pros even insurance companys think the same way that's why we must have a aust approved alarm and immobiliser to counter the opportunist and the pros well we can't do much but hope for the best and plan for the worst.
  11. Hello everyone, just showing you one of my countermeasures to protect my car. i have a old hidden mobile phone in my car the phone has gps inbuilt. installed into the phone is software called Phonelocator Periodic which i got from ovi store (it's free) this software updates the gps location of your mobile phone, it updates it's location on the companies website which you register online, you can log in to see the where abouts of the phones location via gps co-ordinates. you can set the intervals at which the phone updates it's location via text message to the website, but i found this expensive so i turn it off, now i only get a gps update when i want it, you can do this by texting the phone to updates it's location. i've had this for six months now and have been updating the gps location for fun every now and then, trust me the gps co-ordinates are very accurate give and take 5 meters. the sim i'm using is a vodafone 365 days pre-paid which is 1 $30 re-charge that lasts 365 days, and i only get charge 1 text message when ever i want to ping the phone to find it's gps location. total cost: mobile phone $160.00 (from ebay) remember phone must have inbuilt gps sim card $30.00 hook up phone to car battery friend did it for free, no way any thief can find it's location hidden really well (if car battery have been disconnected battery on phone lasts 4days on standby: have tested before hideing in the car) grand total: $190.00 for gps locator too me it's well worth the money, what does everyone think???
  12. it took me 4 years but i have finally found a hotwheels BNR34, not only that it comes with full nismo s-tune body kit and a z-tune bonnet (which i wish it didn't, it's the only thing different from my car). also bought a r35 gtr which by chance was behind it on the shelf : ) . this is the only way i can own both these cars.
  13. i still had a bottle of meguiars gold class left (abour 30% left, trying to use it all up) i find that gold class is really good at bringing the shine back but doesn't last long. as soon as i finish the bottle going to go get some FI products, can't wait to try the FI stuff.
  14. detailed the slk today came out ok.
  15. detailed the slk today came out ok.
  16. detailed the slk today came out ok i guess for the amount of effort.
  17. Dani boi & Jonno34 thanks for info and help.
  18. Hi Mate, what condition is the starter motor in? will it fit a R34 GTR? want to get a spare 1 just in case i need it in the future.
  19. to op you have a BNR34, honestly you should do things right the first time and not have to change the turbos later on it's just better planning. spend a little bit more now and takes a little longer but all worth it in the end as you know you did it properly and be more happy with the outcome.
  20. Hi everyone, i waxed the car today. it came out ok. i wax it every 3 months but i've got a question. what is the proper steps of detailing eg. 1- wash car & dry the car 2- use clay bar 3- polish using??? 4- wax using??? 5- sealant using??? and this is done every 3months or 6months???
  21. Volk GT-C rims looks good on a BNR34, i've had mine on the car for about 6 years now. still looks good but becareful as the dish scratches really easily.
  22. Honestly a real racecar wouldn't be street legal. but i guess when you compromise between sports & comfort.
