  1. Thanks Duncan. Car passed and ready to race. 4 stages tomorrow. The first three look to have easy base times so most should pass. Georgetown has a 3 min base time so will be a competitive stage for most. Sounds like the jj crew are in for a busy night!
  2. On the trailer ready for the drive to Melbourne early tomorrow morning. Look forward to catching up with everyone down there.
  3. I'm in. Just flew back from a recce down there. It's going to be interesting trying the east coast loop in the traditional direction. Sideling would be mighty slippery in the wet and early morning. They've cut out quite a few sections in favour of the South Hobart ones. Im kinda wishing they made it 7 days and they ran all of them Anyway car is all ready besides an oil change. Have gone with 6 medium A050s which could be risky if its a completely dry event. I'll try and post some daily updates this year for those stuck at home
  4. Looks promising. Annoyingly close to high country though.
  5. http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/nissan-gt-r-le-mans-car-2015-02-02 TG are claiming that the GTR LM has a 700hp electric motor in the back to boot giving it 1250hp when both are used. If the car proves reliable it is definitely in the chance.
  6. Still spots available? Car's ready and I have the day off.. Just have to work out how to carry 80 l of fuel down with me.
  7. All thats left is the side intrusion bars but I'm scared to take them out
  8. Damn I'm going to have to stop eating and loose 20kg. Any ideas of how to strip weight out of the whale? Hmm sounds like the weight rule could swing things our way. Their speed kind of makes sense with 1300kg + driver
  9. I'm all for it as it will even out the competition. Don't quite feel the same way about evo 8s and 9s being in em though. Does anyone know what weight people used to get them down to?
  10. Damn it is/was light Ben. On the bright side you'll be able to put the weight exactly where you need it for balance. I kind of think they were a bit generous with the 33 GTR with the minimum of 1630kg. Mine is now 1740kg with driver, nav, tyre, tools and 45l of fuel. Can still afford to loose 75kg. Not sure where it can come from though!
  11. Thanks Duncan. Would have got interesting if you had the tyres to last till the end. It was good to meet up with everyone. Might try to organise a lodge with whoever is keen next year. I spotted a few nice ones with garages perfect for servicing.. Happy with the result though bummed we couldn't have pushed further up the field. We seemed to have the pace when we had a clean stage. Haltech's engine protection did it's best to kill the fun 4 times on day 3. Yet to plug the computer in to find the error code and download logs. Tempted to turn off all the engine protection settings and install a race dash to monitor as much as I can. Our tyres were pretty toast by the end but at least had another 80-100kms in them (265/35/18 Yoko A050 M). 235 seems pretty narrow for a GTR trying to put down anything more than stock power. The smaller contact patch would not have helped your tyre life. Here's our run up Jamieson on day 3
  12. Damn, nothing like pulling things apart only a few days before. Picked up mine from my tuner today. Need to put the passenger seat back in, oil change, swap the wheels over and get it registered tomorrow. Leaving at some ridiculously early hour on Wednesday so hopefully have time to drive a few stages in the Patrol/towcar in the afternoon.
  13. We recced the course on the weekend. The new stages are quite fast and open though the roads seem rougher than the rest of the course. Will be leaving early Wednesday morning.

  18. Not sure about spring rate as my car is a lot heavier however can tell you that we went softer once getting the car setup and sorted. Make sure you have a decent amount of ground clearance as the roads can be quite rough. Softer suspension with more wheel droop will be faster through rough corners as the tyre can keep on the ground for longer. Have you had your car weighed recently? At touring speeds you won't get to the limit of most decent street tyres. KU36's would be a good choice and will have enough in them for several track days after. What size tyres are you running at the moment? My street setup on the 33 is 255/40 R17 RE002s which offer plenty of grip for a tour. In a lighter car you won't need quite the same width, just keep close to your current overall circumference if you like the current gear ratio. 245 on a 9" rim will have a slightly stretched tread while 235 would be better off on a 8".
  19. Did everyone hear the Targa news today? Adelaide is no longer a Targa event however High Country is now a 3 day event with 5 new stages for a total of 270kms.
  20. Thanks again everyone! Still riding the high of wining, though going back to work today was a killjoy. We were so happy to see you up there too Kel! Hats off to Mel too for the very close 4th place with several 1st in category stage times. I tried to wave whenever we went past the guys with the Nissan flag. I'd love to see a 31 in it along side the 30 too! Commiserations to Ben too as he was killing it before the alternator issue. He was really on a mission for stage times on day 5 and set several top 3 overall stage times. In-car from Sidling In-car from Murchison
  21. Thanks everyone!!! Still hard to believe we pulled it off. Anyone down in tas, the first round at the Targa bar is on me
  22. haha thanks guys. Got quite a surprise at lunch time. 30 or so cars didn't make it to the end today with several nasty looking crashes. Murchison and riana were two of the hardest stages for us with a mix of slippery tar, oil and plenty of literred cars. Turns out that 33 windscreen wipers don't really work over 180km/h.
  23. Down in melb waiting for the boat now. The field definitely looks smaller than the last two years. I wonder if that will make for less waiting between stages?
