  1. Have spent the last two weekends fitting new rotors & pads, new wheels, change of all fluids and had the semis put on. Car's ready to go and I'm (hopefully) just as ready. We recce'd a few weeks ago in an awful Kia Rio hire car so the course is fairly fresh in my head too. Can't wait!
  2. Keep an eye out for a set of R32 GTR V-Spec rims like these
  3. Hi Xing, Unfortunately they won't quite fill the guards of a R32 GTR. They will sit around 12.5mm and 22.5mm closer to the centre of the car than the standard R32 GTR wheels.
  4. Price drop! I need these wheels out of the garage! $550

  6. That is a very clean looking 33, nice find!! Does anyone know of a way to turn Haltech engine logs into a Speedo/taco/gear indicator on a video? If not what are people running to log this?
  7. Email from Octagon at the end of June this year;
  8. I remember reading an article released by Octagon about two months back stating that all events from Wrest Point 2014 onwards the Hans device and compatible helmets will be mandatory. Not sure if this was just the Modern categories or all. Similar story with Rally Safe which was implemented across the field in High Country this year. One of the scrutineers at THC was performing a survey on all teams this year to work out the number with and without braces. He also confirmed this would be mandatory from the next event onwards. All of this came from a safety review after the death in TT earlier this year and the survey which was sent out to all teams. Now if I could only find the email/press release...
  9. Yeah we have a 5ltr sard tank in the boot with a 400l/hour walbro pump. It happened well into the wet half of the mountain with the car under minimal cornering or acceleration gs. I'm hoping it was just the sensor and it didn't happen up on the dry run when it was pushed quite hard. Hopefully the log file will have enough to work out what happened.
  10. The field in High Country seems to have grown again. Will be interesting to see if they can extend the event in future years. Day one was the first time it had rained on THC and seemed to test out a few teams. The coarse tarmac on most roads seemed to hold quite a bit of grip even after the rain hit. Mount Buller tested out most cars on Saturday with what seemed like 4 seasons in one stage. The first 2/3 of the hill was fast in the dry however was crazily slippery once in the rain through the middle and the snow/sleet up top. Our new Haltech tripped a fuel pressure warning twice sending the car into limp mode after the second right hand hairpin meaning I had to hit the battery isolation whilst on a straight and restart the car to finish the stage. When it started again the car was still rolling forward which killed 4wd, A-LSD and ABS until I came to a complete stop, something I forgot until after the stage! The rain eased up overnight though the cold weather stayed around at the top of the mountain. Our oil was down to 0°c while the water was at 4°c even after 2 hours in the sun before we cranked the engine over. Quite a few service cars were stuck at the top of the mountain especially the diesels, not helped by the fact the local servos stopped supplying alpine mix a few weeks before the event. The dry roads on day two were dry which gave us more confidence to push a little faster. Second run up Buller was a lot cleaner with a 10:20, 26 seconds faster than the year before. Video of the run through the link for anyone who wants to watch; https://vimeo.com/79191367 Now time for a retune then some new wheels before next year. Short list for wheels is down to; Volk RE30 or CE28, Weds or (the affordable option) RPF01. Any recommendations?
  11. See you all on the Friday afternoon at Mansfield! Really looking forward to this one. Have spent quite some time setting up the suspension since tt so am looking forward to testing the car out on roads I (should) know fairly well by now.
  12. I have 6pot AP 5555s on the front of my 33 GTR with 343mm rotors and they fit under the 17x9" stock GTR rims, Enkei RP01 17x9" and my BBS (RSR?) 17x9"s. At the time these were the biggest brakes I could find which would fit under the 17s I had. Since I've put these on, albeit ditching the Ferodo pads which come with them, I haven't had brake fade even after 60km Targa stages or 30 minute sessions on the track. They are quite $$$ but like most things you get what you pay for. Rotors are a proper floating design with curved vanes so actually dissipate heat unlike a lot of other brands "motorsports" rotors.
  13. So that's what it was. We went past him about 300m from the start. The first two are elapsed time not base time and are only for seeding for tomorrows start. Congrats on the trophy Ben!
  14. We are ready just in time. Finally finished working on the new fuel system after a bad batch of fuel hose meant I had to take it apart 3 times after much swearing and frustration. Car goes on the dyno tomorrow for one last check. Dad and I recced the course in a hire car three weeks ago so it's all still rather fresh in my memory. Can't wait to see how the new suspension setup handles the Tas roads
  15. Hi Paul. At the moment we aren't running any sort of surge tank so have been carting full tanks everywhere. With the longer stages at TT and fewer fuel stations I don't really want to rely on having 20l in the tank constantly just to try and prevent surge. Our car is still on 98 and will be for TT, might look at it in the future but would want some time to test the setup before going into something as big as TT.
  16. Have finally got around to putting together footage from our first run up Mt Buller last year at Targa High Country. We have been using out own notes for the last 3 years there and for the first two events did not have many issues with falling off the notes. This year though we were falling off in just about every stage. Seems that as we were picking up the pace the old notes didn't really seem to keep up. Buller was fairly good though if you listen to the audio you can hear us fall off a few times. I think if we do it again this year we will need to buy the proper notes and spend more time to recce with them. Have a few plans for the car before TT this year, installing a 5ltr Sard tank in the boot over the next few weeks, replacing the rear brake rotors & pads (maybe even bigger disc & caliper) plus about to order a set of MCAs with remote canisters to replace the old and knocking HKS coilovers. If all goes well and we finish TT with the car in tact we will most likely run THC again later in the year. Possibly even Adelaide if funds persist and I can find someone to navigate. Good luck to all those entered into Wrest Point next weekend. The weather has been close to perfect the last two years down there, hope it's the same for you all again this year!
  17. Hey Paul, we are staying down in Mansfield tonight so left straight after presentation. Stoked on 3rd place! Seems that keeping fairly consistent can play off in the long run!
  18. Car's on the trailer now, planning to leave from Sydney around 2am to get down there early afternoon. Planning to drop the car off after scrutineering then take the Patrol out for a bit of recce. Quite excited for this after our dnf at TT earlier in the year. Have been working my a** off to pay for the engine since then so about time for a break! Weather forecast looks promising for now, 30% chance rain Fri, 10% Sat and 30% Sun.
  19. Well we have had some rather bad luck down here and didn't make it back to the silverdome this arvo. Here's my short TT experience.. Yesterday morning felt ok, easing into it so that we made it through to the end at Hobart. Halfway through the Paloona stage after lunch we lost all boost so idled through the next few stages. After a quick roadside bonnet check we assumed it was either one of the intercooler pipes or the cooler itself. We drove the rest of the afternoon without boost (and blowing a lot of fuel out the back) and lost just about any chance we had at finishing the race above half way. Lucky for us the owner of one of the Launceston performance shops owned a 33gtr which he was willing to sacrifice for us. We ended day 1 with the car back together and working and hope for a faster day 2. Once we are back at our cabin and about to get some dinner I get a call from one of the octagon officials at the silverdome and apparently we were needed back there. We get there to be escorted over to scrutineering for an engine stroke test. We were a bit surprised but ok sure, they had the tools to do the work. I think at that time they realised we were running in the bottom 5 in the category and were no where near contention so decided not to go ahead with it. They did pick our bonnet up though as it was not identical to the nismo one which I'm going to have to source and get approved before the next event. After some showers overnight we woke to wet roads on day two and an overcast/scattered shower looking sky. Being our first wet targa experience it took a while to get comfortable with roads. After lunch we were back feeling confident and managed to pass an EM RX7 in one stage and a M 911 the next. After an uneventful run through the Legerwood stage we started driving towards the Sidling, pulled onto the main road towards it, started overtaking a truck who had pulled aside for is when bang. Engine lost all power and there was a trail of smoke behind us. We pulled over and checked the engine bay with nothing looking out of place. Car wouldnt hold idle and or rev past 2000rpm. So I hitched to meet the service crew and we towed the car back to Launceston, getting to drive the Sidling with a car trailer at night in some rather thick fog. As disheartening as it is, an engine is easier to replace then a body shell so we are luckier then some. Going to do it d before the next event and either find a new block or rebuild this one if its not too bad. Anyway enough of that. I hope everyone left in the race has better luck then what we have had. Savman's looking promising for a podium finish, all the best!
  20. ^^ That would be Woodsdale, from memory it was quite narrow, rough and is off camber on either side going into a ditch for most of the way. Reminded me of Pelverata but narrower in some places. Wouldn't take much to slip off the center of the road if it was wet.
  21. Yeah it is! Our notes read something like 1.1km to crest straight caution air 300 then crest straight air 200. ~ 240km/h + crest = ?
  22. We flew down to Tas on Friday and spent the weekend driving the course in a Hyundai i30, 2000km in 2.5 days was a bit of a stretch but we managed to drive every stage. Once. Excited & nervous about the event, so many nice roads to drive on and so many places to come unstuck. Think i prefer the north-west & west coast roads to the east, just depending on whether it's wet or not. Has anyone driven Riana lately? The bridge towards the end is a little, err, not finished?
  23. MMMMMmmmmm my daily does need some power fc lovin, I'll hit you up in a few weeks if it's still around
  24. That would be Dad and I. Car's all set to go and with 8 fresh A050 Ms as of last weekend. Flying down next weekend (30th - 1st) for recee, hopefully the notes arrive before then! Fair to say i'm f'ing excited for it!
