  1. ok, so I got off of work today hopped in my 127,000km 93 r33 gts4 and headed home. By the time the car had warmed up, I had come to the highway on ramp. I happen to like this particular on ramp so I downshifted to 2nd going around the corner, gunned it, shifted to third and the pedal stuck to the floor. The clutch wasn't engaged. I popped the pedal back up and everything was fine for the next 25km. I got home and changed clothes, and went to my parents house about 30km away. Everything was fine till I got within the last 2 km. The clutch started slipping really bad. I let the car cool down, had some dinner , and tried to make it home again. No luck. if it were flat I could have made it , but there were too many hills. I could have the car in any gear but it didn't change the engine revs at all. If I pushed the clutch in it only changed the revs +/-50 rpm. I got towed back to my parents house and checked the master and slave cylinders, no leaks there. I also checked the pedal brackets, they were fine. although I did notice the pedal was adjusted all the way out. I checkeed for leaks around the bell housing and sump and everything else. There was only 1 drop of something on the steering rack. No big deal there. Everything else is almost spotless. Also, I have noticed over the past week, when I'm on the highway with the windows open sometimes 1 or 2 wisps of smoke will come up from below the radio. Only a little, and only on the highway with the windows down. I haven't really smelled burnt clutch either. I haven't had the car for very long and have only put maybe 1500kms on it so maybe the clutch has always been slipping and I just didn't know since it's low power and I don't generally drive fast. What do you guys think it could be? I'm kind of lost. Ithink I'm just going to drop the box and plan on a new clutch.

  2. + the rest probably. With all other parts needed for the build...

I meant 20k for the engine. I bet the rest is almost 20k too.

this is running a big single on a rb30 block gtr head.

close, except the rb29 is 447KW (612HP) and it's running on pump gas, not race gas

  3. To me it sounds like something (wiring, relay, etc) might be loose somewhere and is intermittently losing contact. Is it blowing any fuses? To be honest though, there's a lot of things it could be. You could try checking if there's any fuel pressure in the lines straight after it cuts out, to see if failure of the pump causes it to cut out from starvation..

These days whenever i read cut-out the first thing that jumps to mind is loose AFM contacts. Here is a thread on repairing the AFM.

Intermittent problems where there are no real traces of the problem are probably the most annoying, so good luck.

It is possible that it is the wiring/relay. I tried the Air Con relay in place of the fuelpump relay. No help there. There was a parking assistant that was installed. They had spliced into the wiring behind the fues box. I'll try fixing that today, although the wiring seemed fine yesterday when I took it out. the AFM is also on my list, I already re soldered the connections to the plug, I think I'll try pulling it out and re soldering the points behind the copper plate today. It is terribly annoying, I'll post back up and let you know how it went. Thanks a million.

edit: Almost forgot. No fuses have been blown

  4. Did you ever find the solution to your no-start issue? I'm having almost the exact same problem with my r33 gts-4. I was not getting any voltage to the fuel pump. It does pump wonderfully with a direct feed though. I've ran a direct ground to the negative terminal on the battery. It also randomly starts when I try, I can hear the pump prime when it does start. However, I ran the pump directly off of the battery and the car refused to start anyway. Is it possible that this is related to the AFM or any other part? When it does start, 1/2 the time it runs perfectly, the other 1/2 the time it likes to cut out. It acts like there is a vacume leak after the AFM.

  5. hi, I just picked up a 1993 gts-4 and I'd like to swap out my hubs for 5 stud. I've done some searching and found out that I need the hubs, brake, and rotors. what I'd like to know is can I use them from a z32. I have a buddy stationed in Okinawa and he is stripping down his z32 before he comes home and I'd like to kow if I should have him put all that in his shipping container.
