  1. Hey Andrew, welcome to the SAU forums, and specifically to the Stagea section. Nice buy! Are you a Sydney-sider?
  2. It's not the offset that affects the AWD system, it's the rolling diameter of the wheel/tyre combo. The AWD is electronically controlled, so when it senses the different wheel speeds between the front and rear axles, it thinks one end is spinning, so it transfers drive away from the axle it thinks is spinning. I'm guessing that if it's constantly working when it's only really meant to work ONLY when there's a loss of traction (i.e. it's not a constant AWD system like in a Subaru), then maybe it overloads the pumps, etc. with more wear and tear than they're built for. Like I said, I'm only guessing, so if I'm way off, feel free to correct me. ATTESA = Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All-Terrain It's got nothing to do with the HICAS.
  3. I spotted a few Skylines today, but only remember a black s2 R33 GTSt with plates DVS33R on Marsh Street right near the airport, around 5.30pm or so...
  4. Yep, that was me! I look Asian? That's a new one!
  5. I took these late on Saturday night, so it was right at the end of October... I made myself a little photo "studio" with two pieces of wood that were covered in some dodgy white vinyl, and used two sheets of A4 paper to make the join more seamless. I think I'll need to replace this with some thin white A3 cardboard instead. Anyway, here are the photos I took:
  6. LOL at Adam - good suggestion!
  7. Umm, water in the engine WILL harm it if it's in liquid form and there is enough of it - water (in liquid form, once again), CANNOT be compressed, so it can cause major issues with pistons, conrods and valves. Want proof, ask Aron (aka R34Liner) and check out what it did to his rods: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=4509274. I'm sure Scotty knows this, but I just wanted to make sure that no-one else gets the wrong impression of the effects water can have if used in the incorrect amounts. Of course, water in gaseous form is a lot different, it's the density of cold air that helps us with our turbo'd cars to get better performance - more water in the air means more parts of oxygen. Some people use water injection for just this effect, but it's a matter of balance (and a lot of atomisation) to make sure you're not using too much.
  8. Spotted a silver V35 heading north on Old Windsor Road lat night while I was waiting to turn off Fitzwilliam Road in Toongabbie, then moments later spotted a black R34 going the other way...
  9. Awesome video, Eric - good work!
  10. That's what I was thinking!
  11. Cam, if you want some new Nissan rims off another model, I notice that when I bought my V35 rims for my C34, the wheels are the same all around, and it's the tyres that are a staggered fitment. They were all 18x8 +30, but the tyres were 225/45 on the front (or something similar), and 245/45 on the rear. I'm not sure if 350Z rims would be the same, but if you find rims off another Nissan that you like, then do some research to check the actaul wheels sizes, and go from there!
  12. I saw a silver s1 with black wheels yesterday @ 7pm on Station Road heading towards Seven Hills. I bet that if I'd gotten to the end of my street 2secs earlier, he/she would have spotted me too...
  13. Congratulations, and welcome to the life of Stagea ownership - good times ahead!
  14. The fronts should be the same, Michael, but the rears may be different because Andy's car is a factory manual.
  15. Jules, I've merged the two threads together so all the replies are on here.
  16. The LOLvo is also entered. I also don't expect to win anything, but just being there on the day brings a smile to my face!
  17. Ouch, that sucks!
  18. I drove this car tonight, and if I hadn't already been in it on a number of occasions as a passenger, I would have sh!t my pants! All this car really needs is, ummm, TRACTION!!! Where's that smiley doing epic skids when you need it?
  19. Welcome aboard, Brendan and Ana, adey88 and Dan! adey88, is that a NSW number plate I can just make out on your car? If so, roughly whereabouts do you live?
  20. Awesome little car - what was even funnier was seeing Duncan and Kel load it up with jacks, stands, tools, and all the other associated stuff they'd brought to Oran Park that day and driving it home!
  21. Firstly, congratulations on your purchase and welcome to SAU. Is it only audible with the engine off and after a long drive, when the engine has had a chance to reach full operating temps? If it's a ticking noise with the engine off, it's most likely only the regular sound of the engine cooling down. Because there are different metals used for different parts of the engine, they all cool at different rates, and the stretching and contracting of those metals at different rates is what causes that noise.
  22. Oooooh, I like!!!! Looks hot, Benny! Awesome choice of wheel, and they suit it so well - ride height, wheel design, size and offset are all a spot-on match.
  23. Spotted a silver R34 parked on the street near Blacktown TAFE this afternoon around 2.15pm - had 4WD ride height and wheels that I wouldn't exactly say suited the car.
  24. Nice buy, Stooge - congrats! And congrats to you too, Dan! Regarding the gearbox being a bit notchy, get your chosen workshop to fill the box with Redline Shockproof gear oil, and you should notice the improvement straight away, especially when it's cold. Handling - the best bang-for-buck mod is bigger swaybars (preferably adjustable ones). Oh yeah, and it does cruise a little too easily at above freeway speeds if you're not careful. Lucky for me I've always noticed before it's gotten too out of hand.
  25. Hahaha, I knew you would turn up, Andrew! I was saying to Alex (CL11QE) that you would be the best person to ask.
