Nice one Andy. That price seems about right for mild steel (I think). You and the wife should come along to the Thursday meet-up as soon and as often as you can, dude. It would be good to catch up, and you might get to meet some of the other owners too (assuming that they turn up ).
Oh, and once you replace the dump/front pipe, you'll be able to hear the spooling sound AND a nice exhaust note.
Hahahaha, I've been watching the progress of the build of that car over in the Stagea section, and when I looked at that picture, I still said to myself "Wait, there's ANOTHER R34 in the same Ford Breeze colour as Darrin's wagon?"
Yeah, my ghost appears in this one, but the one I took after this was MEGA over-exposed. I might try and edit that one in PP and see what results I get, then post that up.
Beautiful, Darrin! Well done, and congratulations! It looks sensational, and like Brian and Ray said, the colour looks very much at home on the car.
I also think the R34 wheels suit it perfectly.
Hmmm, as far as I knew, N/A Stageas were ineligible for import approval anyway (until the atmo M35's finally gain complaince), so finding one would be extremely difficult - it'd probably be a private individual import. And having a C34 with an atmo RB25 trying to push around ~1600kg's of car is not my idea of a worthwhile buy, even if it was just to cruise around. They're heavy enough on fuel as it is, and having to push it to keep it even mildly moving along is not going to help lower its fuel use.
If you have been looking at R31s, you DO have to remember to take into account that they are between 20-25 years old now...
As far as I know, Terry (and I'm not the only one whos' searched far and wide), but there are no R33 die-cast models in 1:18 scale. Even though it it probably my least favourite of the recent Skylines, I'd still love a few to add to my collection.
I was gonna say the same thing...
BTW, that car is proof that R32 GT-Rs don't need much in the way of a body kit (if anything at all) to look sensational! A bit of lowering and a good choice of wheel does it every time, without fail.
Nope, Scott - only the AWD versions have ATTESA, and there are quite a few RWD Stageas here in Oz.
And only the factory manuals (RS-Four S in the series 2, and 260RS in both s1 and s2) have HICAS.
It's basically a Ford stud pattern, 5x114.3mm, but a lot of other cars use it too.
If you're getting new wheels, MAKE SURE you have the same rolling diameter at the front and rear so you don't stuff your transfer case - that would be a very expensive fix!
I think VSPEC2 was used as a daily by the previous owner (i.e. when it was still MAD-GTR) hence the high-ish kays, but it was always serviced and well taken care of as far as I know.
I'm keen - haven't been up to Newcastle for a while, this will be a good chance!
I've got a busy couple of months ahead, helping organise SAU-NSW events, but will see what the consensus is on when people prefer to do this, and I'll make a huge effort to squeeze this in!
Three questions:
1. Who is coming to the meet this Thursday night;
2. Who is coming to the Pre-Texi Meat N Greet dinner and drinks this Friday night at The Northern Hotel; and
3. Who is coming to the Texi itself - even just as a spectator (but you all really know you should enter!!!)???
OK peoples, you should all try and make it out to the SAU-NSW "Texikhana" on Saturday the 29th of August (link: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Te...a-t270833.html) on the grounds of Nirimba TAFE in Quakers Hill, or the "Pre-Texi Meat N Greet" dinner and drinks at The Northern Hotel this Friday the 21st of August (link: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Pr...t-t280924.html).
Even better, come to both!
