  1. I would have told you this, Ian, but I assumed you were requesting a SECOND one in case we have a massive day (hopefully this should occur), and you were planning on having plenty of cooking space to feed the masses...
  2. Good thinking!
  3. Unfortunately, I've been thinking the same thing, Adam. I heard about that whole public holiday fiasco last night on the news. As for the dress code (amongst other things), I don't get it either. But I'm going there because of the people, not the venue...
  4. Hey Dave, and welcome aboard! I don't think I'll ever own an older V8, but there are plenty of the newer ones around that I'd like to get my hands on! Stuff like the 1UZ-FE Lexus/Toyota motor can work wonders with its 6-bolt mains caps, etc. I've gotta admit, though, I love retro-tech - mixing an old bodyshell with a newish motor, as long as you can fit a decent braking and suspension package in too!
  5. Correct! As AdamBob has said, this is going to be HUGE! Having it in Sydney means we're more likely to get people from all areas. We won't feel like we're "excluding" the Wollongong people by having it at Mingara, and we won't be "excluding" people from the Newie/Hunter regions by having it down South, etc.
  6. Unique Autosports are well-known on these forums and are also sponsors of the forums. If you're a member of SAU-NSW (ie, not just a member of the forums) then you might get a discount on work and/or parts. UAS have been around for years, the only difference is their new location - they used to be in Castle Hill.
  7. Yep, Hugh, they've been in the same building (or at least the same spot) for 50-odd years.
  8. OMG, I just ordered some stickers for Paul (Oz), Malcolm and DJ Albert through my sister's work... Oh well. Why the hell won't AutoSalon let you bring Mark's car along - it's got more relevance to motorsports than 90% of the cars in there! (Well, that's my opinion anyway)
  9. I'd come along to another one if it's organised, Richard. Oh, and was there chilli on those prawns? Dammit, now I'm kicking myself for not trying them too.
  10. No problems - bring your SAU-NSW member card (assuming you're a member) to get it cheaper.
  11. I could do that, or lump them into one thread with official events at the top, and social ones on the bottom.
  12. Hmm, I've been thinking that we need an events kind of section here in the Stagea Discussions. Some of us guys and girls barely (if ever) venture out of this part of the forums, so often I'm the only Stagea turning up to events here and there. I've already got a good response for the thread about the SnS that we're putting on here in Sydney, so I figured it'd be a good idea to have a list of things going on in each state with Links and basic info, which will be regularly updated. I'll probably Sticky it to keep it at the top of the page, too. What do you all think?
  13. Dude, you seriously missed out last night - there would have been heaps of information that would have been useful to you! Oh well, what you were doing was pretty important too.
  14. Saw 2 jillion Skylines last night on the way to Heaseman's Suspension, then another 1 million (and their owners, and, finally, another Stagea ) while there, then quite a large number of Skylines today.
  15. I won't be displaying my car this year, unfortunately. I can't afford to do it at the moment, all my money (not that there's much of it!) is slowly being saved for small but effective mods until it is more to my liking. Externally, it'll just be wheels and lowering, but I'm working on the usual mods (FMIC, dump pipe, hi-flowed turbo, etc.) I'm mainly on board to help you guys out, especially seeing as I'm already organising shirts, etc. for the club. By the way, PLEASE ORDER A JACKET, EVERYONE - we need 20 orders at a time to make it economically viable. So it's Neo RB25 out, Bob on a treadmill in?
  16. Correct - no sports sneakers. You might get away with street-style shoes (like Diesels, etc.) though - I have in the past.
  17. Both wolverine and I can vouch that Andy (EGA41T)'s car is in excellent condition and a beautiful car - he's already done some mods to it to make it that little bit nicer than a standard car, and as wolverine mentioned, the running gear (gearbox, drive shafts, suspension, etc.) in a factory-spec'd manual Stagea is of higher quality than that in the auto. Mine is a series 1 that's been converted to manual (they only came out in auto in the series 1, unless you choose to spend more and buy the 260RS), and if you REALLY want me to, I can try and meet up with Andy or wolverine one day to compare a factory manual to one converted to manual... Link to Andy's car (and another free plug): http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=154243 As already mentioned, don't take too much notice of the distance travelled on the odometer, instead have a good look at the condition of the car in detail - things like panel gaps, interior condition, paint runs, engine oil condition, etc. say so much more about a car than how many kays the car apparently has... Have a look through the Buyer's Guide for the Stagea, and also through the Buyer's Guide for the Skylines (seeing as they share so many components), and feel free to ask questions if there's something you can't figure out yourself - we're all here to help! :sorcerer:
  18. Shell will know about it all (if she doesn't already), I'm sure. Merrylands is about 35 minutes away from the city, still WELL within Sydney metro. The park is easy to find if you're coming directly from the city - head West straight down Parramatta Road, turn left onto Woodville Rd in Granville/Parramatta, and then Merrylands Rd (and the entry to the park) is about 5mins away. But seeing as you're coming from Canberra (I'm assuming so, anyway), it's a little more complicated, but much closer for you... If you find yourself in the city, then you've gone too far! Probably the best way (if you're coming straight there in the morning from Canberra) is to follow the Hume Highway, then turn left onto Woodville Road at the big "Meccano set" - you'll see why it's referred to as the "Meccano set" when you see it.
  19. DO IT!!! Ferry to Melbourne, then Great Ocean Road, hit Sydney for a little while, and come along.
  20. Sorry Talej, apparently Mingara were not as "enthusiastic" as the last two times, so we've gone with a new venue. Nothing "bad" happened, but from what I hear the contact at Mingara was kinda "pre-occupied" so we've decided to avert any potential problems and go with a new venue who are more keen to provide the facilities we need. The fact that it's in Sydney will broaden the appeal of people coming along. Before, the Wollongong people felt "excluded" because we were having it at the Central Coast, and if we did it in Wollongong then we'd get the same complaints from the Newie/Hunter people. We had to take the best compromise. Brian, it will be good to have you (and your Dad) along again.
  21. Great night (apart from the weather) - very informative and well presented. Many thanks to Richard "Teh Baron," the Heaseman's crew and Gary for setting up and putting on the night.
  22. Hugh, I'm prettty sure mine and yours are the same colour (dark green - "Sherwood Green Pearl") - the paint code is DR-2.
  23. Spotted and met Sydneykid tonight at the Heasman's Suspension/Bilstein info/tech night. Top bloke, a true champion with a wealth of knowledge - not that you guys and girls don't already know!
  24. http://www.mearcat.com.au/Pods/#R34b Not sure if you're looking specifically for a A-pillar mount, but if not, then try that. MearCat (aka Alan) is another SAUer.
  25. Dude, you requested a meeting, and seeing as quite a few of us will be at OzGTR's house during the day, this is the best local location for us to all meet up afterwards for a chat. It's fairly central, is very easy to find, has plenty of parking and has plenty of room for us to sit down for a chat either inside or outside. Where are you coming from? Jess, count me in. I'll bring along shirts once again for those who want to purchase them. Please have your SAU-NSW membership cards ready if you want to buy them for a SIGNIFICANTLY lower price.
