  1. It's an old "Formula" jack, if I remember correctly... I will double-check tomorrow, but most likely all the labelling has been worn off over the years.
  2. We've got an old hydraulic floor jack at home that has provided many years of trusty service at home, but the thing now no longer holds pressure very well. It's a pain to pump the thing up without any weight on it, and subsequently takes ages to get the thing to reach the subframe of a car. Once there's some weight on it, though, getting a car off the ground becomes a lot easier. The seals have been replaced previously, but it still leaks a bit too, so maybe the bores are not as smooth as they should be... Does anyone know (roughly) how much it would cost to sort out, and if it is worth repairing? It is (or was...) a pretty decent jack, and cost my old man a fair bit of coin when he bought it. It's a 2,000kg one, and not your average cheapy, which is why I'd like to know if it's worth repairing/reconditioning, and keeping.
  3. Duncan, when you're ready I'll come around and pull the centre console off my car for you so you can see how it is all set up... I've already got heaps of photos up in one of the threads, but if worst comes to worst, it only takes about 20mins to get everything off, so meeting up with you and pulling the car apart is a minor issue.
  4. I'd like to come as well, and will confirm once the date is set.
  5. Good work, Brad. Nice to see the final results are closing in!
  6. Hahaha, your mum thinks it's a sensible car! When it's complied and on the road properly, you might have to try a hard launch with her in the car and see what she says - get ready to duck away from the backhander, though! Then again, I've been using mine to transport heaps of tables and chairs in the past few days. I managed to quite comfortably fit 4 large fold-up tables and 20 plastic chairs into one trip yesterday!
  7. I got asked by the cashier at my local United (I've been trying the Boost 98) servo what it was yesterday, and he seemed pretty keen...
  8. Hmm, not too sure about the disc rotors, I haven't had to replace mine yet, so I've never looked for a match. As for fuel consumption, I just fuelled up and thought I'd had a shocker, with 36.58litres over 261.6kms, but that turned out to average out at a nudge under 14l/100kms. Considering my car is running off-colour, I was quite happy with that - I'd just gone to order a timing belt, spark plugs (coppers, as Iridiums might last longer, but are sometimes troublesome), and an Oxygen sensor, but nothing was in stock... Oh, and I'm currently experimenting with United Boost 98, which has 10% Ethanol (not Methanol...)
  9. I saw a sh!tload of the white and pink ones stuck to a white car this arvo, there must have been at least 25 in various sizes...
  10. Welcome aboard, do you live in Sydney? As far as I know, HICAS (i.e. 4 wheel steering) was only available on the RS Four S (which is a series 2, RB25DET, AWD manual), and the 260RS (basically a Stagea version of an R33 GT-R, with the RB26DETT, etc.) No need to be a mechanic for these things - they're pretty reliable and if you can't find a DIY thread in here, you'll definitely find someone who can either point you in the right direction with your problem, offer to fix it (or help you fix it), or can recommend a workshop for those bigger problems... Most of what applies to a Skyline also applies to the Stagea. Hmm, ground clearance - I've never had a problem, but mine is at the standard height (and looks kinda ridiculous). Andy (EGA41T) has had problems, but that's because his car is lowered and has a 260RS front bar on it. It's for sale, by the way, and is a rare factory manual RS Four S. As for air-bags for extra height, the Stagea might have AWD, but it's not a constant 4WD like a Subaru, so apart from some users having a bit of fun on dirt roads, I doubt anyone's gone off-road.
  11. Neither do I, but don't forget, Andy, that Perth city is smaller than Parramatta, so comparing Perth metro to Sydney metro is like chalk and cheese... There's a higher concentration of Stageas over a much smaller area in Perth.
  12. Is your alternator alright? It should be sending roughly 14.4volts to your battery and electrical system to run everything. Also, there's usually a regulator on the alternator which kinda controls how much charge is going out from the alternator so as not to over-juice your car's electrical system. That could also be causing problems. The third thing, there's another fuse box inside the car - pull out your coin tray on the RHS of the steering column, and there's a fuse box hidden behind that with a bunch of standard blade-style fuses there. i can't remember if there's any there which may sort out your problems, but it might be worth a check...
  13. Spotted another 5 Skylines this arvo, so that makes for a record 8 separate spottings for me in one day. A silver R33 GT-R turning off the roundabout towards Holsworthy in Ingleburn around 5.30pm, then a Nismo-stickered silver R32 GTSt parked at units in Macquarie Fields (along with a silver Evo 7 or 8), then a dark blue R32 GTSt on the Hume Highway heading south. Later on, I saw another black R32 GTSt on Fitzwilliam Rd in Toongabbie, then a silver R34 GTt on Old Windsor Rd heading towards Parra...
  14. Dude, don't forget that in Japan you probably have an abundance of places to get the parts from, with a lot more choice than us here in Australia, and I'm guessing you're quoting US Dollars, not Australian Dollars, so the prices are somewhat irrelevant to us... Oh, and Kylie, I thought the front pads were DB1250's? Might have to take them down for cross-referencing when the time comes to change mine... Like Leetom said, if you can't take one off and take it with you when you go to buy some, take a piece of paper and trace around one of the pads and take that to the parts shop to check against.
  15. Saw three Skylines on Johnson Avenue in Seven Hills about 3.30-4.00pm today. One was a two-tone silver/gunmetal R33 GTS25t coupe, one was a black R32 GTSt, and the last was a gunmetal R32 GT-R with Nismo wheels...
  16. You should only have to remove one of the bolts holding the caliper in, and it's best and easiest to remove the bottom one. You might want to slightly loosen the top bolt so you can "swing" the caliper up. Then, swing the caliper up and "over" the disk, pull the old pads, then compress the pistons back into the caliper (using a G-clamp and one of the old brake pads). After that, replace the old pads with the new ones - and don't forget the backing plates, that should stop your brakes from squealing. Once you've done that, lower the caliper back down over the new pads, and replace and tighten the bolt(s)... Done! (BTW, I just nutted this out from memory, so it's not a comprehensive DIY, but it's not a hard job either. There are quite a few cars where the process goes like this, and the technique is pretty much the same.)
  17. First things first, what state do you live in, and what area? I'd assume that the R33 GTR aribox should be the same, as the RB26DETT in the Stagea (whether series 1 or 2) is the same as that in the R33.
  18. I started noticing these regularly around about two weeks ago, and now they're fking everywhere! Not from I witnessed last night, TWICE, unless the dude was just driving his g/f's car. Years ago, I was thinking of putting a sticker of the national flag of my parent's heritage on my car, but it's red, blue, yellow/gold and green, so it could easily be confused with the gay pride flag... Add purple and orange, re-arrange the order, and let the misconceptions begin!
  19. Could I please get prices on the panels on each side of the spare wheel well in the cargo bay? I assume the ones you have are the same colour - the exterior colour is the same as mine, anyway... Thanks in advance, Nick
  20. Yeah, I get heaps of looks too. I went to a carwash today and one of the guys working there asked me about it, then I had a chat to him for about 20mins about my car and Skylines in general. He said he'd seen a few around, but never realised it was a Nissan, or Skyline based. Agree with Andy, no negative attention from cops for me either. I've even deliberately given it a bit of a stab - no hard launch or anything, but enough throttle and revs to make some noise, especially with my exhaust - and the cops looked over, then looked away again.
  21. Just watched 5th Gear on LifeStyle channel (cable). Someone buy me a McLaren F1, please, kthanx...
  22. Yeah, Justin, I'd be keen to see that too, please!
  23. Flying down and riving home isn't an option? You did say Melbourne to Sydney, right? Best way to get to know the car...
  24. Got my HypeRev books today in the mail with Nick "Volvo Driver" Txxxx in the address... Thanks Shan (and damn you, at the same time, smartass... ) Nick
  25. I love the MCR R34, for the same reason I love the Mines R34 - they're just tough-looking cars with little to no graphics or un-necessary adornments. Wheels, suspension work and a functional bodykit is all they need, and the performance does the rest of the talking. Iron fist in a velvet glove! That, in a nutshell, is what I'm aiming for in my car. And if I can have an engine anywhere NEAR as responsive as the Mines 34, I will be one very happy boy! I don't need that sort of power, but some improvement would be great...
