  1. It's not that I don't let anyone drive it, but that I'm usually in the car as well when it is being driven by someone else - and that someone else is a person I trust implicitly! The clutch is a ceramic button clutch, so it's heavy and very bitey - it's either in or out. My old man doesn't want to drive it because he has a bad left knee, and my sister is kinda scared to drive it because there's no play in the clutch and thinks it's a "big car" (even though she fairly regularly drives an EL Falcon wagon for work). The other people I would let drive it, I just haven't had a chance to meet up with them for a drive yet.
  2. Mine pops on overrun, and quite regularly too. Mine has the standard ECU, but it's been converted to manual, so I can kinda induce the popping at will with some heel-and-toe or throttle stabs on downshifts. Dunno if it shoots flames, but I'd like to find out. Might either get someone trusted to drive it one day as I follow, or get someone to follow me...
  3. Just found this one too, but it looks like it's recorded from a video game:
  4. Happy birthday, guys!
  5. My username? When I created it years ago (I can't even remember how long ago it was, maybe 9-10yrs?), it was around the time I'd bought turntables and a mixer, and started teaching myself to DJ. One of the first batch of records I bought had a song called "Black Gold of the Sun" by NuYorican Soul. I liked the song a lot (still do), and combined the Gold with Godzilla, and my username was derived from that. EDIT: forgot to mention that I have darkish skin (not quite "black" but darker than olive), which is what the song was actually referring to, and that's why I like the song so much. Hope that makes sense...
  6. Maybe Hugh has multiple personalities...
  7. Check out this thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...854&hl=fuse and if your fuse box cover looks the same, then it shouldn't matter that yours is a series 2. Translation is in post #17.
  8. Shannons gives you (from what I can remember): * choice of repairer; * first option to buy the wreck if your car is written off; * higher level of third party property coverage (I think it's $20million, compared to $5million with JustCars)... I'm sure there's more, maybe _800STED_ can give us a better idea of the differences.
  9. Motion seconded!
  10. Oh yeah, I've noticed that Channel 7 (especially on Today Tonight) love to sensationalise a lot more than the other stations.
  11. Quote: It is believed one officer then got out of his car - and it is alleged the Skyline tried to run him down. Funny how it was the 'Skyline' who tried to run the cop down, and not the Skyline's DRIVER!
  12. Nice car, Yudy. Looks great!
  13. Mike, I replaced my front splits last weekend, and the wiring for the tweeters doesn't seem to come from the drivers in the doors. There are only two wires heading to the drivers in the door on each side, and no wires leading away from them. When I looked at the tweeters and replaced them, they had a separate set of wires leading to them, but not sure where they came from, maybe it was directly from the head unit. They seemed to have tiny crossovers attached to them directly. Tracing the wires would have been a hugely time-consuming process - taking the A-pillar cover off is a task and a half, because it's all one piece going to the B- and C-pillars too, so I just didn't bother.
  14. Find someone with a HyperRev magazine, I'm sure someone in our group has one (or both) for the Stagea. It could quite possibly be in there. I wanna buy them both - Nengun has them listed @ roughly $33 each, but when you look at the "Delivered" price, it's almost twice as much!!! No thanks...
  15. My best mate headed up there today too, he goes almost every event and has asked me numerous times to come along. He's driving his friend's car up, his wife is in tow with their sons in their 01 WRX, and the friend (who works for Subaru) is driving a current STi up, just to keep the whole flat-four theme going. I really should go next time, would be a good chance to get away from Sydney. Back on topic, I saw a gunmetal R32 today in Toongabbie and followed it along Fitzwilliam Rd and over the bridge before we turned opposite ways. Plates were "R32" and it had some "questionable" chromies on the front, and stocky GTSt wheels on the back... Definitely not to my taste.
  16. Yeah, exactly... Nope, won't meet SEVS requirements for power-to-weight, but neither does the non-turbo RB25DE (even in the Skylines, AFAIK).
  17. Oh yeah, I forgot about that - guess I don't have to worry about it then, hey?!?!
  18. I don't think there's that many owners with the Xanavi units in their cars.
  19. Andy, is this all one colour with a body crease playing mind games, or is it a two-tone with the slightly darker colour from that area above the door handles? Looks nice though, would probably suit your car well, although I already love it the way it is now!
  20. Even worse, Rob, they were available with an RB20E - that's a SINGLE CAM 2.0 litre RB, auto only!
  21. That's f^&ked, where did it happen? Did they manage to get anything, or just cause you a whole lot of inconvenience?
  22. I might organise one day to meet up with one of the auto s1 owners, and we can both remove the consoles from our cars and compare them. * Beastien lives close to 3hrs away. * EGA41T already has a manual (s2) and according to Beastien my console is from an s2 anyway, so it'll probably be the same. * R33stagea works at least 6 days a week, I think, which might make things difficult. Any Sydney volunteers? SK? Fergo308?
  23. If you got your red P's after July, you're not supposed to be driving a turbocharged car, as MR R34 has said. There are certain exceptions, but you'll have to ring the RTA or check their website (www.rta.nsw.gov.au) and do some reading to find out what they are. Adding an intercooler and BOV have nothing to do with your licence, but rest assured that if you have a BOV that vents to atmosphere for the whole "WHOOSH" sound, you will be attracting the cop's attention (and a defect) no matter what licence you have.
  24. Doritos "Cracked Nuts" flavour?
  25. If you can get an MPS, you can park for up to 2hrs in a 30min zone, and all day in any spot rated over an hour. And you don't have to pay for metered parking, which will save you a hell of a lot of money.
