  1. Yeah, I think you're right Alex, but even then, the lettering would/should still appear the same way as the numbers on the tacho and speedo regardless of whether the dash is lit or not, so I guess Alan put a piece of plastic there or something. Oh well, not that it really matters...
  2. This is a rough guide only, but: 1kW = 1.34hp 1hp = 0.743kW Remember: * when you're reading a new car mag (such as Wheels, Motor, etc.) or looking in a new car brochure, the quoted power figures are at the flywheel. * when you're reading a performance/modification kind of magazine (HPI, Zoom, FF, etc.) them most of the figures stated are at the wheels, so count on *roughly* 20-30% lower figures compared to flywheel, and this accounts for frictional and other losses.
  3. I noticed this ages ago, but never thought to mention it: mine doesn't have the Auto thing down the centre of the cluster! I dunno if it was changed for one from a series 2 or what was done, but I don't have the PRND321 there...
  4. I agree with Ska, MANUAL, FTW!!!!
  5. Years age we were looking for a place to buy a cover for the old man's Audi, which only gets used around once or twice a fortnight, we ended up using a few old flanelette fitted bedsheets sewn together, which works a treat. The car is always indoors, so we don't have to worry about wet weather protection anyway. And now I find out that this place is LITERALLY around the corner from us... Might have to go and check it out.
  6. Big? Sorry, don't have measurements at the moment, but this might give you some idea...
  7. What if the string broke before you had a chance to cut it?
  8. Hmm, I bought my Stagea because I'd wanted a Skyline for YEARS, but they're so common now that it's almost ridiculous, and buying an R32 now is a bit more of a gamble due to the age they're hitting now. Seeing as my R32 (if it ever eventuated) was gonna be a four-door anyway, why not get something even more unique with the benefit of wagon space, ATESSA and a half-a-litre more engine capacity. Also, I bought a Stagea because it's pretty much the ultimate street sleeper!
  9. Hey, a (slightly delayed) happy birthday to you both, Mona and MS...
  10. Happy birthday Thomas!
  11. I remember that thread, and I wonder where some of the old members are now... mcnamg (Glen) is back, but where did madwagon and Jay95R33 go? They were also very instrumental in the early days... Does anyone else remember any missing members from when we first started posting?
  12. Christian (PranK) had a GReddy cross-flow intercooler on his old Stagea, but I think it cost him a fair bit for the kit... You can kinda see it in this pic, and there might be more pics in his gallery, not sure. Car is currently for sale at Unique Auto Sports (www.nismo.com.au) here in Sydney... I also intend to get/make a cross-flow kit when I do the intercooler upgrade, and am still exploring options as to how I'm going to go about doing it. I might just buy a cooler from a group buy or something and then get pipes bent up to accommodate the 180deg turn, or I might try and get a cooler and modify one end tank so it points downwards anyway, making pipework a bit easier. Depends on cost.
  13. Correct, Brad, the oil filter on the RB25s is also the Z-145a.
  14. Yep, what they said: probably a blown head gasket. Apart from the milky-white coloured oil (this is from the oil and water mixing together), you might notice that the exhaust smoke is kinda grey too. If it's the head gasket, it's not a huge issue. Time consuming job, yes, but not too difficult for even an experienced home mechanic. The head might be warped, but if not they should machine shave it anyway so that when they put the new head gasket on it creates a proper seal...
  15. Thought that was you (or Amanda?) Wil, 'twas I who beeped. I only noticed you late, anyway...
  16. You could create a new user name, then you could create 250 threads asking "Who do I take my car in to for a tune?" (or similar), just like happens every week in the NSW section. And then you could sign in as your regular log-in, and say "Why don't you do a search instead of just posting the usual questions..."
  17. Mike, I went BlueTooth, I bought a speaker the other day and it just clips onto the sun visor. If you've got a BlueTooth phone, just leave it in your pocket like kjb_r33 said. There are plenty around (BlueTooth and regular) that plug directly into the ciggie lighter socket (such as the Nokia one), too, and have an in-built speaker. Then it's just a matter of finding a spot for the phone, maybe take the Hazard button and surround out and hook something behind it that won't damage the dash too much... Mine has (quoted) 20hrs talk time and 800hrs standby on its inbuilt battery, so I'll just leave it attached until the red LED starts flashing asking for a recharge. This is the one I've got:
  18. That's right, when you close the boot there's no need to slam it, just lower it until you hear the first click (like when you half-close your bonnet or a car door), and the motor pulls it closed properly.
  19. Correct, AFAIK. I'm still in the process of figuring out (in my head) an easy solution to plug-and-play the PowerFC for those with manual conversions (and maybe S2 RS Four S's using the appropriate R34 computer, of course), and I'm currently doing some research and making some calls to figure out if my theory will work out in practice.
  20. Glenn, EVERYTHING is 15 minutes away from the city in Perth, I've noticed... The only time you spend more than 15 minutes travelling over there is of you're going past the city to somewhere on the other side, or if you're leaving Perth metro! Perth peak period = 15mins worth of traffic in the morning and night, each way. Sydney peak period = anytime between 6.30 and 9.30 in the mornings, and 4.30 and 7.00 at night, each way. <====== Oh yeah, I'm here, by the way.
  21. Nice work on the re-welded plenum! Did you get much benefit from it? And what turbo are you using in it?
  22. Yeah I know, I did a quick measure one day and it was 400mm from wheel centre to guard, so it neads AT LEAST 2 inches (~50mm) drop. Problem is, I have a sneaking suspiscioun that my second turbo might be on its way out, so the SK suspension will have to wait a bit longer again... When I decided the Stagea was the car for me, it was always going to be either dark green, dark blue (like SK's) or dark red (like Chris' old car).
  23. You HAVE to join their forum to have access to the info and express your interest...
  24. Me too. I assume this is a free night, there is no cost outlined in the first post. Is this correct?
