  1. The foot-brake interlock was developed by the Germans, yes, particularly Audi. Americans with less than half-a-brain (most of them, in my opinion) started running litigation suits against car manufacturers for "unintended acceleration." Instead of said Americans taking responibility for their own actions, they blamed the car (a machine, after all) for moving when the gear selector was moved into either Reverse or Drive, causing shock, injury, or - at worst - death as the car lurched backwards or forwards under its own unhindered power... Audi was the hardest hit in the litigations, and it almost brought them down... It's not exactly being developed, most of this litigation and the changes to cars happened 20-30 years ago. It's the same reason that early Hyundai's were amongst the first to have the same system on their manual cars, where the engine couldn't be cranked over until the clutch was depressed all the way to the floor. (See, Hyundai's were good for something - it's a shame that that about covers it...)
  2. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=115809 Try Bearing Industries, as per my post here. They have branches in most states, afaik, and stock bearings for just about everything.
  3. Try Bearing Industries in Seven Hills, I think my cousin bought some for his R33 recently, can't remember how much he paid though... http://www.nskaustralia.com.au/page/distributor2.html
  4. Spotted a light green Stagea turning off Parramatta Rd today around Haberfield, approximately 12.30pm. It had an extra pair of driving lights in the bottom of the front bar, but looked otherwise standard. Was being driven by a female. Soccer mum, maybe? Unfortunately, I wasn't in mine at the time.
  5. That looks HOT!!! 260RS front bar and R34 GT-R wheels look awesome, and the Recaros with matching trim rear seats just adds to it!
  6. Spotted DHC turning onto the Cumberland Highway, from the Great Western Highway in Wentworthville approx 10.30pm. I beeped and flashed, dunno if he noticed cos I was watching the road...
  7. I would have said that maybe your accelerator got stuck somehow, but the fact that your trans lights went out throws a new spanner into the works, and that shouldn't have been even remotely connected. Dunno. Strange!
  8. Correct me if I'm wrong on this, people, but this is my understanding: The whole reason for using more pistons in a caliper is to get more braking force through greater surface coverage when you apply the anchors, more friction, and (as a by-product) more heat transfer. Reducing the number of pistons acting on your brake pads means less even wear of the pads, and most probably the discs, as well as more potential for disc warping (depending on the size of the pads in relation to the pistons).
  9. Alright, ignore what I said inpost #54, the airbag computer and ATTESSA sensor are separate items... Airbag ECU: Airbag ECU (bottom of shot) and ATTESSA sensor (top of shot) with whole console removed: ATTESSA sensor just behind the gear shifter:
  10. Me too, depending on price. The rubber backing is a good idea!
  11. Yeah, that's why I'm happy to contribute to it as well. It works both ways!
  12. Spotted a white R34 sedan at the intersection of Old Windsor Rd and Seven Hills Rd, heading away from Parra. Approx 8.30pm Also spotted the front of a yellow R33 on Old Northern Rd in Castle Hill about 5-10mins later, right near Showground Rd where the fire station is... SECURITY, was this you?
  13. Steve, what if a club member is signing up and they have an R33? Should it not then be New South Whales? Or New South Wales Whale(s)?
  14. Alright, finally fired off some shots of the handbrake mount, and here they are. Not too sure how they will turn out, as the sizethey are automatically reduced to is a bit small, but I can email you the full-res shots if needed. For some reason I'm having trouble uploading to the SAU gallery, is anyone else having this problem? Handbrake support from front passenger's seat: Close-up from the front passenger's seat: Handbrake support from front driver's seat - can't really see much, though: Handbrake support from rear 1: Handbrake support from rear 2: Whole centre console removed, shot from the rear: For Beastien, a shot of where the g-sensor is for the ATTESSA: Nick
  15. The CDs are now doing triple-duties as either a plate for meals, a mirror for applying make-up/brushing teeth, etc., or as a mirror once again for use to rack-up the current possessor's drug of choice for the day - all depending on the requirements of that particular time of day. C'mon, funky, what's the story...
  16. Yeah, the S2 has the advantage of the R34's Neo engine, so a bit more power and torque is available, and maybe (not too sure on this, but someone is bound to confirm it) better fuel economy. Like Terminal said, the dual sunroof option would be great - I missed out, but that's fine because I managed to get my hands on an already-converted manual S1 in a colour I liked. Just check that you can squeeze your frame under the sunroof, especially with your height. If you're comfortable with your seat at the lowest settings and you still have some headroom left over (for the occasional unexpected bump or pothole), then go for it!
  17. Yeah, I gotta admit I didn't really look at the deadener too much.
  18. When I was on the cruise I organised on Saturday, I saw that (or a very similar) lining on the inside of the airbox, and was told that it's a sound-deadening device for the induction noise. It was only held on by a few brittle plastic clips, and Andy (EGA41T) removed his from his S2. It IS meant to be there, but maybe the one on yours has just fallen apart over time. Doesn't matter - the removal of it will not cause any problems, and may even benefit airflow slightly...
  19. Ouch! Best of luck with the knee surgeries, Brendan!
  20. Personally, I'd be going for an L16 and turbo, blowing through a decent sized carbie of some sort - 45mm Weber, Dellorto or SU, side-draught of course... Ahhh, cable ties and gaffa/electrical tape - the drift/drag/circuit racer's and mechanic's best friend! Seriously though, that is some heavy duty damage. Mona, you should keep the parts and display them somehow for memories. Ahhh, the good times!
  21. Congrats, Mel! Good to hear you're happy with the purchase, and you'll see it only gets better as you notice all the little detail things in the car that make the ownership experience great. Stuff like the little storage compartments and the extra cigarette lighter socket in the boot, the fold-down seats with the handy handles(!), multi-adjustable driver's seat, reclining rear seats, etc. Did yours come optioned with the luggage blind and net, and self-closing boot?
  22. Hardwiring the ATTESSA allows us to plug in an R33 PowerFC, seeing as there is no Stagea-specific PFC available. That way, we don't lose use of the ATTESSA, and we gain a computer option which is plug-and-play...
  23. Sydneykid, AlexCim, Terminal and a few others have tow bars. I think at least one of them has one rated to roughly 2K, the link is here!!!
  24. I'm guessing the engine bay would be extremely cramped, just like the 3000GT/GTO's is, making it an expensive prospect when it comes to labour costs...
