  1. Adding to what Jay said, if it doesn't need to be a DSLR, then also think about getting a Canon G-series point-and-shoot. The G12 is a few years old, but if you can find one and like the way it feels in your hand (and don't need interchangeable lenses), then this could serve you well. (Quick note here: the newer G1X is apparently better, but also more expensive, bigger and bulkier than the G12; the latest G15 is smaller than the G12, but that's because they've dropped the swiveling screen on the back, slightly reducing its versatility.) If you decide you still want a DSLR, a Canon 650D can be bought in a kit with the 18-135mm lens (instead of the 18-55mm and/or 55-250mm), and should serve you well for your travel needs. It's newer than the 60D, so it will have a few extra features even though it's supposed to be a lower-spec camera in the Canon range.
  2. Thanks mate! Thanks Richie, your shot is awesome too. Love how a natural canopy of trees can frame something so well. BTW, the clockspring on that stopwatch in my shot is only about 6mm across at the widest part. I'll take another photo in the next few days to compare it to a 10c coin or something to give it a sense of scale.
  3. Thread title changed, mmmkay? :P
  4. Or post in the right section: http://www.skylinesa...-wanted-to-buy/ Or even check the Classifieds section: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/forum/12-for-sale-private-car-parts-and-accessories/
  5. My first shot for this year. It's amazing how a couple of stacked extension tubes can affect a Macro shot. This is using my Canon 60D, a Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens, and three Kenko tubes stacked together (12mm, 20mm and 36mm). This is shot at f/7.1 and there is still some DoF fall-off towards the edges of the shot. IMG_6504 by GoldZilla, on Flickr
  6. Want me to change it to "Lambchop with an AXIS here?"
  7. LOL, I was with my old man just the other day (Friday the 28th) at that dealership, and the guy we dealt with (very briefly) acted as if we were wasting HIS time even though we'd been there for less than 10mins. Both my parents went back there without me on Sunday and got the same vibe off him. If and when they go back there, and if this particular salesman approaches us with the same attitude, I'm going to make a scene (probably loudly say something along the lines of "Well, if you're not willing to help us, I'll go and speak to someone who is") and walk to someone else's desk. I wonder if it's the same guy...
  8. Please read this: http://www.skylinesa...yerdetaileretc/ Honestly, if you want someone who knows what they are doing, you either have to be prepared to spend big or "spread your wings" and make the effort to travel a bit further than you'd usually prefer to if you had a standard run-of-the-mill car.
  9. Happy new year's to you all too, mother-crumpets!
  10. I got that as a sticker a few months ago.
  11. Pffft, for $30 it's way beyond a bargain! Do it, the things you learn when you take up an opportunity like this will FAR outweigh the cost. If you really expect more track time when you're paying such a low entry fee, then you have no idea on what it takes to run an event like this. We, as a club, would love to run an official SAU-NSW event there, but we can't afford it.
  12. LOL, you probably pass my street every day then! I doubt my car will be coming out until just after the new year, unless it's a dry day with no chance of rain while I'm out - I need a new set of tyres (at least for the front, but I'll probably change the lot).
  13. Yep, depending on what colour and size you want (they also come in black).
  14. And again tonight...
  15. Merry Happy ChristmaKah everybody!
  16. With dark grey/black 5-spoke wheels, Dave? If so, I see that around a fair bit.
  17. Spotted that silver M35 on Targo Road in Toongabbie earlier tonight again.
  18. Spotted that silver s2 a few times in that spot. And please don't take the rear spoiler from the white RS4S - I plan to go in there after New Year's to get that and some other parts off it too. That's just around the corner from my house, too.
  19. Spotted a yellow 34 GTt tonight around 7.45pm at the little row of shops on Johnson Avenue near Seven Hills High School.
  20. Some of us have even become Lolvo drivers, we've been around that long...
  21. It was a good (but hot!) day today. Check out and add to the discussion, post your pictures, etc. in the wrap-up thread here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/415730-sau-nsw-end-of-year-picnic-wrap-up/
  22. Unfortunately, EVERYONE will have a different opinion on this, so please read this: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/228238-read-this-whos-the-best-tunerworkshopresprayerdetaileretc/
  23. The cake was awesome!
  24. I just spotted a silver M35 AXIS on Station Road in Seven Hills about 10mins ago, I was heading the other way in mine. Also, travelled in convoy with StageIan today to the SAU Picnic and saw Theo and met Craig.
