  1. Takumi probably would have dropped a front wheel into the gutter if he needed to to get around you as well... Seriously though, don't forget that wider tyres generally have LESS grip in the rain than narrow tyres because the wider contact patch can contribute to aquaplaning - the wide tyres will drive OVER the water, whereas the narrower tyres tend to "cut" through the water and grip the road surface underneath. Anyway, regardless of whether you've got a phat set of wheels with wide tyres, or the stockers with 215's or whatever, ALWAYS buy the best tyres you can afford. Remember that the tyres on your car are the ONLY real contact your car has with the road. Good to hear that both of you are safe anyway. Nick T.
  2. Have a look at these - they might come in useful for any of us that drive daily, to work, etc... http://www.iparklikeanidiot.com/ I might have to buy in multiples of 100, from what I see on a daily basis working in Parramatta... As stated in the thread title, they might not give you any more power, but the satisfaction in applying them (especially on a regular basis) should be more than enough! Nick T
  3. As long as the wheelchair is lowered to within an inch of YOUR life. The wheels on a wheelchair are already big enough, but I'm sure you could find a different style to really make it "yours." Maybe get a set of titanium or carbon-fibre wheels, or go old-school and get some Tour-De-France/Olympics style tuffs? Wilch, as people have already said, if YOU can justify the cost, and your tyres are up for replacement anyway, then go for it and engage in some male retail therapy! Nick T
  4. maybe he thinks we're girls because we like to go around corners too, and not just at those times when he'd probably be doing laps of "Cafe Central..." maybe he likes his RWD car to chew out front outside tyres faster than a FWD understeering into the bush!?!?! Oh well, his loss.
  5. Jeez, those back wheels and tyres look small too!
  6. Christian, sounds like the same one I saw in Blacktown about three weeks ago near the Workers' Club. Looked stock, with the factory BBS-style 16s on it. BTW, where are the pic's of your beast? I was at Edward Lee's JAC the day you picked up your Stagea, while having a look at a few Stageas myself. I'm guessing I probably just missed crossing paths with you... EDIT: My bad, just saw the thread showing that you've posted some piccies... Been too busy, unfortunately, to go back or investigate further...
  7. I'm with Glenn (mcnamg) here, and don't like the white wheels, and the height's a bit of an issue too, but considering you're already contemplating the suspension change, there's no need to go on about that. Other than that, it looks like either a hot-looking panel van (with those super dark rear tints) or a Mafia/Yakuza-spec wagon. (Don't worry, the panel van comment is meant to be a compliment!!!) If it was my car, I'd be throwing on some Black Chrome or Hyper Bronze coloured wheels. Love it! Nice choice of colour!
  8. Thanks Glenn and Justin...
  9. I saw my first Stagea on the road the other night, Saturday 20 Nov. 2004, in Blacktown (NSW), turning at the intersection where the Blockbuster Video is, right near the RTA... I gave the driver the but he either didn't see me or ignored me. Meh... Nick T
  10. IDB? Yeah, what further proof do we need that TWS is coming back to SAU...
  11. This is sad news not only for the families and friends of the deceased, but to the Skyline community as a whole! Luckily there's been no major backlash on the fact that it was a high-performance import with a young driver at the wheel. Another reason to push for better driver and attitude training for everyone, no matter the age or experience. Three young lives (four, if you count the unborn child) and a beautiful car which no longer grace the earth... Condolences to all of the friends and families affected.
  12. inark, there is another thread on the R-34-style front here ... As per SK's discovery, the R-34 and C-34 guards aren't interchangeable, which rules out Shan (funkymonkey)'s suggestion. I think there was also a mention of a body crease that's on the R-34 that doesn't appear on the C-34, or vice-versa. They do look hot though, don't they? mcnamg's photo gallery is GOLD for Stagea pics, as I'm sure all of you will agree... It's here. Nice work, Glenn! Nick T
  13. That sucks. Oh well, not likely to happen in my Corolla, unless Thorpie says it's Fully Sick (which might add about 400rwkW, providing me with a strange combination considering it's FWD) (edit: not including stickers, of course)
  14. I wonder what they'd do if you went into some quiet non-residential area where there was hardly anyone around, and just did laps and laps of the same block for no apparent reason. Especially if it's in an industrial area or similar, so they can't accuse you of doing happy laps of the coffee strip or whatever. I think that'd be a laugh... "Excuse me sir, why are you going around the same block over and over?" "Well, excuse me officer, but if I'm obviously not doing anything wrong, why are you still following me?" Tosh, can they really book you for "excessive accelleration?" Especially if there's no wheelspin or anything?
  15. Probably the best bet is to check the part number and see if you get any replies from a post asking R-34 owners to do the same, or maybe make a quick phone call to a wrecker's or dealership...
  16. I agree, seeing as Rezz is closest to the "source" after all, if you get what I mean. Living in Japan, I suppose we could safely assume he would have heard the correct pronunciation more often than most of us. "Stage-ee-ah" it is for me, mmmmmkay?!?!?!
  17. Homer2288, have you tried Stanbridges in Mt Lawley? I'm from Sydney myself, but have been to Stanbridges a few times when I've been in Perth. They seem to have quite a good collection, so you might be lucky there. They've had a renovation and increase in size since I was there last year, too. Otherwise, try Sherriff's Mini Cars here in Sydney, they usually have a good selection of stuff. Cheers and good luck Nick
