  1. *Cough Cough* Ahem, it should take about an hour from the START of the M-2 in Seven Hills, assuming you're sticking to the limit and use the F-3. I live about 5mins from that, so I'm wondering what time the Spectators expect to be cruising through there. If I'm not a lazy ass I'll cruise up in a crew (bringing up the tail end in my Corolla, most likely)... No promises, but if I know that people will be cruising through Old Windsor Road and onto the M-2 from there at about 9-9.30am, I'll make an effort to get up and moving. Nick T.
  2. Rezz, I've got a few images from and of the Bridge, as my sister used to work for BridgeClimb, and because of the number of climbs they have everyday, they ALWAYS have someone on up there with the opportunity for taking a good shot. A climb leaves every 10 minutes, and there's always three (if I remember correctly) groups at various stages of the climb at any one time. There are quite a few good shots available, but the file sizes are too large (how do I attach thumbnails? ). There are heaps of good storm shots if anyone wants them, and most are at a pretty hi-res. If you want any of the shots, let me know via PM or email
  3. Me too *raises hand in air* My friend was down from Qld the other day. He's regularly on the Qld forums (his name is KUL33) and he said just about everyone up there smiles/nods/flashes when they see another Skyline on the road. He was surprised when he went for a cruise with his relo's (Silver-Arrowz - I didn't know Lee was your cousin) and he was kinda stunned about the attitude of some of the people cruising here in Sydney. Unfortunately, I can't say I haven't notice either - why do these people act like this? Nick T.
  4. There's a place in Parramatta amongst all the Asian shops where I picked up Series 1 in the 3-disc DVD box set, with English subtitles, for about $55 if I remember correctly. If you're willing to come out this way, it might be worth a look, but unfortunately they don't always have stock, and I can't remember the name of the place. It's right opposite Sherriff's Mini Cars, on Church St, Parramatta, and only about 3mins walk from Westfields.
  5. I've got the 9807 and like most of you I don't use the MX either, and my defeat is on too. I have the sub set to +10 as well, and it sounds sweet just like that. I had a Sony before this unit, and used to listen in Loud mode most of the time, and figured I'd end up doing the same when I got the Alpine put in, but I've noticed that I don't need it on (due to more internal power and 4V mains output to my amp, maybe?), and I agree it sounds kinda artificial and "forced" when you put the MX on - even when listening at low volumes, which is when you're most likely to use any kind of Loudness control. Nick T.
  6. Don't bother with the Alpine website - they haven't updated it in god-only-knows how long. They do have a DVD player that does CD (obviously) and MP3, but whether or not it will play a DVD-/+R with MP3's on there is a different matter... Give them a call instead at their head office in Melbourne and ask them to send you a current product brochure and price list, or download it (but then you miss out on the price list).
  7. Joke or not, that was in bad taste... Damned shame Silver. My friend's car got broken into the first weekend of this year, and they took my jumper and almost also got away with a very full record bag (the records, headphones and a pair of needles) as well... He was playing that night at UN (the old DCM's) and we'd gone in there for about 25-30 minutes beforehand (I know for a fact it was no more than this), and came back to a car minus one record bag and one jumper. That was the start of a very shitty night, but I won't go any further. One lucky thing (the only thing) was that the kids who broke into my friend's car dropped the bag as they got sprung trying to break into another car.
  8. GTR032 - what time was this? And was it Northbound or Southbound? I was heading up the coast on Saturday and probably would have stopped if I'd seen you and was in the nearside lane...
  9. Nice article Hooks, some very crafty secrets exposed by FG! I got my subscription in the mail late last week, but in my typical "leave the best till last" fashion, I deliberately read this after reading everything else in the mag, because I knew any interview with Gibson would be juicy! If/when Terry is ever convinced to come out to an SAU track day, maybe he can be swayed to bring and run all the Gibson Nissans for a ride. I would have replied earlier, but this is the first time I've been on the SAU forums in months! Nick T.
  10. Dude, who says you have to work for Telstra? Shell's pretty much right there, being a Public Servant has its perks, but it helps if the job is actually INTERESTING - I hate feeling like I've contributed nothing even though I've worked my taill off all day... (Guess who doesn't like their job?!?!?) Oh yeah, congrats Jimbo! Nick T.
  11. A4 Turbo quattro wagon would be the go if you can't persuade Bec to go for the Stagea. Problem is, finding a Turbo quattro wagon - I'm sure they are around, but if they are then the owners sure as hell aren't willing to sell them... I'd buy one too if I could find one! Must admit, I'd equally go a new Liberty GT wagon, but they won't be coming over in a manual for quite a few months yet, so you may have to wait unless you'd be happy with an auto (and also depending on when you're planning to get married and/or get rid of the GT-R). Congrats, too, BTW.
  12. yeah, but the female ones are usually rather "pleasing" to look at...
  13. I go just about every year. Some manufacturers have jack-sh!t to display, so you don't even bother stopping, but there's others that go all-out with nice concepts and pre-production versions of cars which keep you at the stand for quite a while (350Z, HSV/HRT 427, etc.) This year I'm looking forward to seeing the new Subaru Liberty range, and wondering if Nissan will get off their ar5es and offer V-35 and G-35 based cars to us, or even preview the R-35 GT-R (which is probably not likely).
  14. Did you slap him upside the head? :slap: :argue: If not, can I?
  15. NOOOOOOOooooooooooo - don't tell me that!!! I'm gonna ring Albert's tomorrow, and if it's true I'm gonna go in there tomorrow and have a big whinge!!! Both Lifestyle Store and JB Hi-Fi are open on Sundays, and JB is open till 9pm during the week...
  16. MRK25T - I went and had a quick squizz at some HU's for my car the other day because I've finally decided to replace my dead stacker/dying tape Sony combo (it's only been 3 years...). I was shown an Alpine CDA-9807, and compared it to Pioneer and Panasonic HU's (all with MP3, but can't remember the model numbers, although they were all within $50 of each other), and the Alpine blew them both away for clarity. I went back again the other day just to make sure the EQ's were all set flat, and they were. It's costing me $549 (plus the $50 for fitting), so it's up to you if you want to stretch the extra $50 or so, but I thought it was worth it. I'll probably carry the deck over when I buy my next wheels (if ever). This was at Lifestyle Store in Parramatta, but JB Hi-Fi always have good deals too. Might be worth the hike over to this side of town... Nick T
  17. lost... for... words...
  18. How about a JZX-90 or JZX-100 Toyota Chaser/Mark II? I think JZX-90's go for mid-$20's, if my memory serves me correctly. They've got a good balance of luxury and performance, four doors, nice shape, lots of available performance parts, RWD, and the 1JZ-GTE motor (which has got to be at least as good as any RB motor)! If I hadn't been lusting after a Skyline for so long, this would quite easily be my next choice. Might still do it after I own a Sky...
  19. I can see it already...
  20. Pete, are you sure you don't already own a "cheap" run-around car? There's an old (Suzuki-built) Barina that parks in Parramatta everyday that has the number plates "4FATZ" I'll take photos if anyone needs proof... Nick T. Edit: I think it's even one of those "Sportsgirl" ones... I'm sure I've seen the stickers on the sides. (Remember, that's gotta be another 15kW per sticker at the front wheels!)
  21. Don't worry 'bout me, I found it. Shame it's empty tho.
  22. Huh? There's a downloads page?
  23. Prank, you're selling your decks - that's like blasphemy!!! Next you'll be selling the GT-R and buying a "family car" or something. Oh well, at least you're keeping your vinyl. Good luck if you do go through with it. I'd make an offer but I have no cash for a Skyline, let alone more equipment... Nick T
  24. There was an R-32 GT-R for sale at UAS ages ago, and it had clear indicators on it - it looked mint! Incredible how such a small change can make such a difference... Here's a pic:
  25. Put "Hyundai Excel Sport" badges and stickers on it... If ever there was an oxymoron, it HAS to be when you have Hyundai, Excel and Sport in the same sentence...
