Spotted a white s1 260RS at the SAU-NSW Drag Day at Sydney Dragway (formerly WSID). I'm wondering what times he got.

I'm stoked, I got a 14.507 @ 91.6mph on low boost (9psi) in the morning with a fair bit of knock due to the heat (it was already close to 30degC at around 10.15am). This was my second run, and I've never dragged before. In the arvo with the cooler weather, I did a few more runs in low boost to check for knock, then went for it in high (12psi) and got my best run of a 13.817 @ 95.23mph on my second last run. Not bad for an RB25DET Stagea with minimal mods (full exhaust, return-feed FMIC, PowerFC, EBC and fuel pump) running an otherwise standard engine and turbo. I wish I'd remembered to check the weight during scruitineering, but it would quite easily top 1700kgs. Massive thanks to all the SAU-NSW Exec crew (Eric, Dave, Duncan, Liz, Shell, Steve-O, etc.) and our volunteer support network (BenM, Sean, Mitch, etc.) for putting this together.

Yep, using Lightroom and it's doing a pretty good job, I just need to learn more about using it and Photoshop properly. Yep, crop body - Canon 60D, and no, the flash wouldn't have helped over the distance I was shooting. And I own a monopod now, but didn't then. And 'sif not real zoom - it's still optical zoom isn't it? So it IS real! Dunc is right, Iain - you're just a weirdo! The 60D has the screen and controls at the top near the shutter button too for quick access to ISO, AF mode, drive mode, aperture, etc. But the Q screen is an excellent idea by Canon in regards to seeing and changing your settings on the fly.

Yeah, no doubt. Yep, ISO was maxed out, I should see how much I can recover it - it was mega-grainy.

Yeah, but sometimes I like to shoot wide open. And it's about options - it's always good to have options, right?

Yeah, I'm getting by without the IS - the only shaky shots I've shot so far were indoors at a Uni graduation where I didn't think it would be curteous to use a flash and I was a long way away at the back of the hall, and there were too many people around to set up a tripod. Nah, I'm liking this lens more and more as I use it, and I like the extra stop of light, as well as the DoF. Can't afford another lens for a while, anyway. I'm just going to put up with the weight.

Which one, Ryan - the 70-200mm or the 17-55mm? The 17-55mm has, but unfortunately the 70-200mm doesn't.

I love my 70-200mm f/2.8L, I just wish it wasn't so damned heavy. (I'm a skinny mofo, by the way...) My favourite lens, though, is the 17-55mm f/2.8 - all it really needs to be an L-series lens is weather sealing and the red ring.

First attempt at taking photos specifically for a panorama, and thank f*ck that Photoshop does the stitching for you automatically...

Yeah, I'm pretty stoked about the results too. Manual controls just give you more options to control how your photo turns out, and the Auto modes are still there anyway. And yeah, a camera course can't hurt, but just simply doing lots of reading and shooting with different scenarios and settings helps massively. Check out Mearcat's products. They've got a number of different guage holders/pods available, and about 3 of those are specifically for the Stagea. I bought one ages ago, and it sits in the little area where the clock is on top of the dash. Perfect placement because it blends right in, isn't a distraction, and looks like it was meant to be there.

OK, no post-processing, just a conversion to .jpeg so I could upload it to my Photobucket account via another computer (cbf turning the laptop on at this time of night). Canon Powershot G12: Aperture f/8, Exposure 1/200sec, ISO 80 Canon EOS 60D: Aperture f/11, Exposure 1/200sec, ISO 100 I'll try over the weekend to set both cameras up on a tripod, using all the same settings (aperture, exposure length and ISO) and repeat the test.

Excellent! People are coming from interstate for this, so you Sydney and other NSW people have almost NO excuse!
