Poll - Who's driving what. ACT Only
Terminal replied to GZ R33's topic in Australian Capital Territory
mmm, 350Z. i've got a really dirty gun metal R33 S1, 17" shadow chrome wheels and 5" cannon exhaust -
I've actually got an HKS Pod, it came with the car, but the filter is stuffed now. I'm actually thinking about getting a stock airbox reinstalled and a high flow filter, is there any difference between this and a Pod? i don't want to lose power, but the Pod is so bloody noisey
-
Heh, aren't i red faced, my AFM was clogged with my air filter. its completely buggered, falling to pieces etc. thanks a lot for all your help though guys, at least i know what to look for next time.
-
hmm... the coils seemed to be fine when i checked them, i did the coil test by disconnecting one and seeing if the engine kept firing or not. i guess ill have a closer look. i wouldn't expect water could get down that far, but one of my coils was wet. ill have another go at them i suppose. i replaced the plugs, so they're fine
-
I have another theory. is it a common, or likely occurance that the timing gears/cam gears can come loose, or the timing get wacked out some way, maybe a tooth on the timing belt has come off or the belt has jumped a tooth? i had my head in the engine bay and there were odd noises coming from under the cam cover, and also a spinning/wooshing noise coming from the inlet manifold. anywho, any replies are appreciated.

How do i do a fuel pressure test? i'm a bit of a newbie at skylines. also, might a power transistor fault have the same effect? a mate of mine seemed to think my dizzy was on the way out, but not knowing i don't have one. the problem seems to have stopped getting worse. i just have a lack of power sometimes, my idle is rough and when its cold it won't rev past about 3000rpm and sounds like its running lean or not getting fuel or spark.
-
i think it might be a fuel pump problem now, as it only loses power sometimes, its very random. the fuel pump is behind the back seat right? ill pull it out and have a looksey.
-
Ok, replacing the sparkies didn't change anything. it still has a massive flat spot when i rev it, then it's idle is really surging. is there any chance it could be the injectors are dirty? when i rev it and there's no exhaust noise, i can hear an odd spinning sound. im assuming that's the turbo spinning without any exhaust hitting it. im stumped, but i don't want to have to resort to a mechanic
-
Ok, i started pulling the coil packs out to replace the spark plugs, and they're wet. not wet with fuel, but wet with water?? i cleaned the engine bay the other day with a damp sponge and then splashed it with water, but i couldn't imagine water getting into the engine. this i asume is not a good thing, so ill let them dry. i checked the coil packs, it wasn't them, they're fine. the turbo gasket thing is a possiblity. i might have a go at that next if replacing the sparkies with 0.8mm gap ones doesnt do anything. thanks a lot for your help, really appreciate it.
-
Well the self diagnosis didn't say anything was wrong with the turbo. also, once i get into the higher revs it runs normally, i'd assume if the turbo was dying that at higher revs/boost it would run even worse.
-
Well, actually i had a squealing noise coming from somewhere whenever i hit 5000rpm, full boost, but it went away once the car was warm. i went around all my intercooler piping with a spanner and gave all the clamps a tighten, then the noise stopped. after that was when the flat spot occured.
-
Ok, im having trouble with my car. it started out as just a flat spot in 2nd, but now its become a total loss of power right through the gears and into full boost. when it idles now it's like a misfire, the revs are jerky and the exhaust note is off. i ran the ECU diagnosis test, and it came up emtpy (55). i checked all the coil packs, and none of them seam faulty. i suspect it could be bodgy spark plugs or maybe a fuel pump fault, or a crank angle... im really stumped here. the car is running like poo and it only started stuffing up about 2 days ago. any help or suggestions appreciated. Edit: It's an R33 Series 1 93 model with 130,000km on the clock

Spotted: Black R33, not sure which style. followed me along northbourne at about 11pm last night. looked like a clean car.

Well, i thought i'd be funny and ask National Capital for it, they said they can get it... for $600. yeah, i'd rather not do that

Worst GTR badge placement EVAR!!!
Terminal replied to Merli's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
i thought there was 15kW per badge, and at least 50kW in a bodykit? -
i've got an HKS one and its bloody loud. my mates get scared when they're in my car and i hit it, they think something busted.
-
i parked behind a metallic blue R32 on saturday night ouside Ali Babas in civic. that was a nice looking car, awesome paint job
-
i think mine is stuffed, its a 93 GTSt, it sits on the full mark until i've done about 200km, then it will start going down. ill hit empty at about 350km, but when i fill up it won't take more than 50L. i've seen the fuel light come on once ever, and that was only when the gauge went below empty and i felt like i was running on fumes.
-
hey guys, not trying to be a pain, but where the heck can i find a spare LED set for a S1 R33 spoiler. mine don't work anymore, and i've no idea where to buy a new set.
-
i heard a lot of noise coming from civic/braddon area, i assumed there would be coppers, so i stayed home
-
I saw that 355, it sounded like an F1 car. i pulled up behind it on canberra ave just outside fyshwick. i tried to match him around the roundabout that turns off onto wentworth st, god damn that thing sticks to the road. i saw an old school lamborghini contage along the same road as i was still cleaning my pants from the ferarri. it made my day anyways.

A very painful spotted today in the woden shopping center. a black R33 with vic plates pulled into the carpark. i thought he had an air brush job, but when he got closer it looks like someone went nuts with a metal scourer and a key all over his car. massive scratches and huge cuts into the paintwork. some people just have nothing better to do than wreck perfectly good looking cars, if i ever see someone doing that stuff to another car i hope they have insurance, personal that is.

White R33 S1 with massive wing followed me out along Lady denman Dr, then while going along passed a massive looking silver R33 (GTR?) and another silver one who flashed his lights at me, my hands were busy, couldn't reply. too many lines, so little time

I'll be blotto this weekend, its my 21st during the week.
