  1. Dear Alcohol First & foremost, let me tell you that I'm a huge fan of yours. As my friend, you always seem to be there when needed. The perfect post-work daiquiri, a glass of wine at the weekend. You're even around in the holidays, or hidden inside chocolates as you warm us when we're stuck in the midst of endless family gatherings. However, lately I've been wondering about your intentions. While I want to believe that you have my best interests at heart, I feel that your influence has led me to some unwise consequences: Phone calls: While I agree with you that communication is important, I question the suggestion that any conversation of substance or necessity takes place after 2 a.m. Why would you make me call those ex-girlfriends when I know for a fact that they do not want to hear from me during the day, let alone all hours of the night! Eating: Now, you know I love a good meal, but why do you suggest I eat a kebab, a butter chicken curry along with a hotdog with cheese, onion & mustard (washed down with another drink & topped off with a Kit Kat after a few sweet chilli & sour cream Red Rock chips)? I'm an eclectic eater, but I think you went too far this time. Clumsiness: Unless you're subtly trying to tell me that I need to do more yoga to improve my balance, I see NO need to hammer the issue home by causing me to fall down. It's completely unnecessary, & the black & blue marks that appear on my body mysteriously the next day are beyond me. Similarly, it should never take me more than 45 seconds to get the front door key into the lock. Furthermore: The hangovers have GOT TO STOP. This is getting ridiculous. I know a little penance for our previous evening's debauchery may be in order, but the 3 p.m. hangover immobility is completely unacceptable. My entire day is shot! I ask that, if the proper precautions are taken (water, vitamin B, bread products, aspirin) prior to going to sleep/passing out face down on the kitchen floor with a bag of popcorn, the hangover should be minimal & in no way interfere with my daily activities. Alcohol, I have enjoyed our friendship for some years now & would like to ensure that we remain on good terms. You've been the invoker of great stories, the provocation for much laughter, & the needed companion when I just don't know what to do with the extra money in my pockets. In order to continue this friendship, I ask you carefully review my grievances above & address them immediately. I will look for an answer no later than Thursday 3p.m. (pre happy hour) on your possible solutions & hopefully we can continue this fruitful partnership. Thank you, Your biggest fan P.S. Nope, no more beer for me thanks. No hot dog for me thank you. Sorry, but you're not really my type. Good evening officer, isn't it lovely out tonight. Oh, I couldn't, no-one wants to hear me sing.
  2. I have the names of 2 wreckers who have stageas in their yard, i don't have the number with me right now, but leave it with me and i'll get their contact details for you.
  3. my opinion, get rid of whatever dodgy alarm is in and get a decent one installed. auto lock is usually because you disarm the car but don't open the door, it assume it was a mistake and locks again.
  4. man, i have no idea what you're talking about. is this to cover where they came out? oh, and i think you mean roof rails, roof racks go across the roof, not along the sides.
  5. Already have: Adjustable coilovers Whiteline swaybars Adjustable camber arms FMIC Pod CAI Towbar 260RS spoiler 18" wheels oh and i just modified the handbrake to be in the centre console. i have a powerfc and a hi-flo turbo sitting in my garage waiting to go in with my R33 GTR gearbox & RS Four-S console. after that i'll tidy up the interior with some boost, oil and air temp gauges that are badly needed (why did nissan release a turbo car without these?) then a brake upgrade will be warranted, probably some R33 brembos. not too much more though, as i'm starting to save for my M35 when they become a bit more affordable (and the VQ35DD model is approved for import)
  6. Alright, i got the handbrake installed. the handbrake i got was from an R33 GTR and one of the brackets was at the wrong angle. luckily, working on a construction site, oxy torches are quite abundant, so a quick blast and bang with a hammer sorted it out. it still wasn't 100%, but served it's purpose. i used about half a dozen washers underneath to get the correct height and angle from the handbrake: now i just have to adjust the tension on the cable and i'm all set. hope this helps people. i'll update with the console pieces tomorrow and then try to install it. i don't know how it will go around an auto shifter being there still, but we'll see. it's a bit of an incentive to get the rest of it in i guess.
  7. yeah it would have taken me about 4 hours so far to remove interior and fix the plate. putting the handbrake back in should only take half an hour, so i'd guess to do it all in one hit, 5 hours. installing the manual console isn't a hard feat, neither is removing the auto one. it's the plate that took most of the time, and figuring out how the heck to attach it.
  8. i didn't weld mine on because i would have to remove the front seats, rear seats to then remove the carpet section to prevent the carpet catching on fire when welding the plate on. i've still got to reinforce it with a few more bolts, but i needed a handbrake by the weekend, so i've opted for the bolts & washer method for now.
  9. i have my auto one out of the car and my manual one sitting around, i'll take a few shots and post them up here tonight.
  10. i've always had the impression "who'd want to steal from a volvo?" but it looks like there might be some theives out there who know what it really is. i had my R33 broken into twice, both times losing the stereo and other assorted goodies. it really grinds my gears when i hear about that shit happening. i hope it doesn't cost too much for replacements.
  11. rrriiiiggghttt.... stock mods, that's a bit of an oxy moron
  12. it was around $900 for all the parts. Beastian ordered them and i asked him to get 2, so ask him where he got it from. sorry i can't help any more than that.
  13. ah, i think the manual console is lower than the auto one, but i'll let you know by the weekend.
  14. Sorry, the price is ~$50, depending on how nice your nissan dealer is. i think mine was upwards of $60, but i've heard of people getting it for less than $50. i bolted it in and everything without thinking to line it up with the handbrake, and almost cried. luckily, it lined up perfectly! i can only assume since the handbrake lines up, the console will.
  15. Right, well i've started installing a handbrake. it's not as easy as some people have made it out to be. Firstly, i purchased the handbrake mount bracket. part number 34938 - AA200: now, i found this part had too much in it. I needed to drill out the 2 spot welds on the left hand piece that goes on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel. I already had this piece of the bracket installed into the car. now, to remove the old handbrake cable, first of all, remove the foot-brake. the handbrake cable needs to be detached underneath the car, which is quite easy, and there are 2 bolts holding it in underneath the airbag sensor. this sensor had TORX bolts holding it in on my car: i had to get a T50 torx bit, and they came out fine. and next, i noticed the bracket that the centre console attaches to sticks out a bit much: i drilled the 3 spot welds for this out, and then wrestled to get it off the car: now that was all out of the way, the bracket could finally be installed. there's some gooey crap on the tunnel, which i scraped off with a screwdriver, then drilled through the holes in the bracket into the tunnel. through these i put M6 bolts: using a 5mm bit the bolt did screw into the tunnel a bit, but it's only very thin sheet metal, so i had to put washers and nuts on the other end. now this was no easy feat. i suggest removing the drive shaft, but as i only had car stands, i couldn't get enough leverage to remove the bolts. they're 17mm bolts so not something to sneeze at. anyway, i did manage to get the washers/nuts on, by gluing them to my finger and then screwing them on: this is still to be continued. the handbrake i have lines up with the holes, but the brackets aren't flush. i'll just get the oxy to them and bend them in slightly, then she'll be right. i'll finally have a working handbrake. watch this space for my clutch installation....
  16. Ah that was you hey... i was wondering why the car was so ancy around me. my car is so super fast because of weight reduction, i no longer have a foot-brake
  17. Slidewize Imports. i used them for my GTR gearbox and Series 2 taillights and they were awesome. they lost half of my tail lights at one point, found them and posted them overnight to me at their cost. they do good things http://www.slidewizeimports.com/index.html
  18. thanks guys. tha bracket is the RS4-S handbrake bracket for attaching the handbrake to. i see how i have to do it now, thanks Nick. i have too much on my bracket and i'll have to cut some of the welds. at least i know i'm not an idiot, i had it set up exactly how you did, but i need to get under the airbag sensor with the torx bolts so i can attach the new handbrake cable, i don't think you can get it out without getting underneath it. now all i need is a mate with a welder. thanks guys, i'll let you know how i go today.
  19. Well i kind of started my manual conversion today. my handbrake (footbrake) turned out to have a tired spring, so it doesn't release anymore. Marc2 kindly removed it from my car, and so i began to install a regular handbrake tonight. i have the bracket (pictured) but have yet to figure out how it installs. there are 2 bolt tacked onto the transmission tunnel that hold in some sort of gravity assembly (purhaps air bag sensor?) and these match 2 bolts coming from my bracket. if anyone has used this bracket (from S2 RS4-S) can you tell me how you installed it? i hope it doesn't involve too much cutting. anywho, i need to undo this other assembly piece at the back of the tunnel to detach the old handbrake cable and attach the new one, but it appears the bolts have a security bit on them. has anyone had to deal with these bits yet, and if so, how? i'm stumped. anywho, i need this repaired by the weekend because i'm doing a defensive driving course and i'm pretty sure i'll need a handbrake.
  20. i'm doing my defensive driving course on sunday, then doing a skid pan day on the 27th with Rick Bates (Neil Bates' brother). is this the same thing?
  21. i'd get the front tinted to maximum legal just for the heat reduction factors. i've been some pretty hot places, but with the windows up and ac on the harshness of the sun is reduced quite significantly just with 30% tint on the front windows.
  22. i saw that car the other night, it looks like a thunderbird bonnet decal or similar.
  23. well i got mine first, so ner. my mate got me mine about 18 months ago after i'd bought my car, they're funky but a bit out of proportion.
  24. hows the mats coming along, do we have enough takers yet?
