  1. City kids, pfft
  2. I've done a fair bit to mine, with the final touches coming with the 5sp R33 GTR box. with that comes a high flowed turbo and Powerfc + 040 fuel pump. boss says i'll be looking at around 220 - 240awkw afterwards, i've already got FMIC, Pod with CAI, 10psi boost, 3" turbo back exhaust. it's not all go, to complement i've got the full whiteline setup with tein coilovers. i'm hoping for anything over 200awkw, so once i've reached that i'll let her sit for a while and work on my new toy (corolla sportivo turbo)
  3. Spotted a silver stagea in belconnen last night as i was heading into the carpark.
  4. 1971 HG Holden stationwagon. had a bench seat up front with trimatic on the column. had a monster of an engine, 253 (4.2L) V8 running a 2 barrel carbie on a 4 barrel manifold. i could get flames to backfire up the carby, that's how far out the timing was. had dual exhaust pipes and no cats, with shiney tips on the end. i would flog the guts out of it and i still never had any problems with the engine. i went through 5 axels however, they kept 'falling out' around corners, honest. i tell you what though, wagons aren't just good for carting around heaps of stuff, if you know what i mean it lasted me 3 years, and for an initial investment of only $1000 i think it was great. ended up having an indepth discussion with a concrete pole about who was going to move first...
  5. I've used slidewize and bought sereis 2 taillights for my series 1, and also a GTR gearbox for my manual conversion. their service is great, as long as you're willing to wait for shipping (heavy items can take up to 3 months to arrive) i even had half my parcel go missing when i got the tail lights and they hunted them down, found out what had happened and shipped them to me separatly at their expense.
  6. Thanks for the info. i don't think i'll be doing too many mods to it yet, it's not my main car, it'll be my g/f's. she doesn't drive cars hard, so i'll only worry about a new intercooler & oil cooler when she starts to realise the potential (also let me have a tinker under the hood, she said i'm not allowed to play with it yet) a gearbox exchange follows the same rules i guess. i'll wait and see how she goes with it (the car and the girl), as i don't think it'll be driven that hard (yet) I'm not sure what they're worth, but we paid $18k for it after getting a 100,000km service and a bit of money off the price. i've only seen one other for sale which was in sydney and they wanted $23k for it
  7. I start work at 7, so you'd have to be up pretty early. I work in the city on the construction sites, i park in the old carpark in civic next to them. i can bring the intercooler with me and meet you in civic? otherwise i'm not back home in belco until about 11pm tomorrow night.
  8. Just thought i'd share with you guys i got myself ripper of a deal on the weekend. me and my gf went halves in a 2001 Corolla Sportivo Turbo. limited edition of only 110, goes pretty hard and has all the trimmings that a corolla could have (no leather seats or dual sunrooves unfortunately). runs a 1.8L twin cam turbo engine (7A-FTE for those in the know). i'll be giving it a working out now on long journeys to save a bit of fuel in the madwagon, and also a few k's. Anywho, just showing it off because i think it's a pretty zippy little car
  9. I've got the stock Stagea one, i'm pretty sure it's identical to an R33 one. it's just sitting in my garage at the moment doing nothing.
  10. i had it happen twice in my R33, but they never broke a window. i found out how they got in though, it's not hard to break into cars without window frames. hopefully you can get your stuff back together without too much hassle, i hated driving around in my car after it was ripped open, it just reminded me all the time of the incident.
  11. just on the rear hatch plastic cover, i used a spatular to get in behind it and then levered the cover off. once you get a few clips out you'll realise how stiff they are the first time once you get going it's easy to get off, but its the first few that are the tricky ones.
  12. I have a pic of a 260RS copy wing, on my car just for comparison
  13. I think you're exactly right. unless you want to drag/race the car (which stageas aren't built for) then you don't need to remove the limiter. i hit 160 along my parents private road whenever i go home to Bathurst, but other than that i don't ever get much above 120 (maybe 130 on the hume)
  14. Spotted Tee in his white Stagea in Belconnon yesterday.
  15. My housemate used the secure parking under my last place. i was forced to park in the vistor parking for a year. i never had one problem being outside, and my car was (is) a lot better than his (exa). someone busted into his car under our secure parking and flogged all his work stuff including laptop etc as he was driving to sydney in the morning for work and had packed the night before. i think if they (crooks) have to try to break in they will, but my car wasn't a challenge so they left it alone. very ironic i think
  16. Well turns out while i was getting my camber and other thing sorted my worst fears were realised. all of my wheel bearings are shagged and also my CV boots have gone. my steering rack is moving in the joint and my lower ball joints on both sides of the front end are moving around. looks like suspension overhaul time for me. i have done 160,000km on the car, and not much of that was easy city driving, so i guess i should have expected it.
  17. when i was 16 i bought my first car, a POS kingswood V8, sounded cool but had no go. only cost me $1000. you can get cheaper cars than that around. my gf's first car cost her $25 and 2 vegemite sandwiches. it lasted all of 6 months but it was a great first car
  18. I'm pretty sure mine are genuine. i had 97,000 when i bought it and now i've got over 160,000km on it. it drives fine still, not had major issues (alternator died) and she goes quicker than ever.
  19. Just overnight parts from Japan, then you can race the black civics tomorrow
  20. I would also not advise cutting the wire, or doing anything with the speed limiter. if you're ever in an accident and the car is inspected by the police and they find the speed limit wire cut they'll void your warranty and rego. i wouldn't want that to happen to anyone here
  21. I do notice that, hence the reason my power button stays on, well it will until my GTR box goes in
  22. Hehe, nah i'm only a year out of my engineering degree, so i still have a bit of that 'learning' left in my head. give me a few years and i'll forget it.
  23. I'm no chemist, but i seems to me it would be a simple redox reaction. similar to how the old lead acid batteries worked? i remember doing chemistry at uni and it had equations that were similar to that, but using lead and copper instead of iron (steel) Maybe something like Fe + O2 -> FeO2 + energy then the reversible reaction would be FeO2 (rust) + energy (our current) -> Fe (steel) + O2 (oxygen) therefore no rust develops this is from very limited chemistry, i'm sure it's more complex than that
  24. Yeah mine was too, so i have a NIZMO stagea then
  25. Spotted a lime green R33 in the carpark next to my site offices
