  1. I believe I'm a good driver, never had an accident or been fined of anything but not having my P plates on years ago, whilst in an excel! That does not mean yesterday, albeit there was no traffic, laying a huge power slide onto a by-pass which was wet from rain..... no noise, or ssmoke = me having a license
  2. do you actually know what has leaked? broken fitting or split hose?
  3. Most people do not need turbo timers on their cars... Simple as that... The only reason somee do is because they heat the turbo up so much that it will seize if not given the time to cool down... Who drives like an idiot on the road, pushing their car so hard all the way to their drive way to need one???
  4. I agree about some of what you said HOWEVER... When cars are lowered too much they often end up hitting the bump stops when cornering or more importantly when cornering and hitting a pothole... What occurs then is bump-steer which is simply the car bouncing around.... A really dangerous thing... I like cars low, I have a mini cooper s with 2 inch ground clearance... But I have also re-engineered the subframe mounts, control arms, etc... most people dont do that.... (BTW its a race car lol) +1 Wider tyres may give more grip everything else remaining the same. The problem isnt the guys who do a great job, roll the guards perfectly and check for clearance at all angles... Its the fool who leaves sharp edges on his inner guards which the tyre rubs on and eventuallly go POP! But i do agree with you about not letting the government take away our rights to things... Cue V for Vendetta.
  5. you can pick up a half decent autometer guage for round 150.... or a cheap working one for under 50..... may not be nice, but certainly will give u peace of mind
  6. Dont think the coppers will pull you for that one lol.... An exhaust that is even a tiny bit louder then a mouse fart for sure....
  7. i should be in... probably bring jen along with me again....
  8. IS the engine making any funny noises? No knocks or clacking??? Oil pressure can drop really quick, be just maybe OK when driving, but have bugger all pressure at idle when nasty things happen t your main bearings, like spinning them.... Been there done that...
  9. Alls OK!? Thats probably the truth of it... Most cars crank over a little bit before they turn on... It seems as though thats normal to me... Depending on how the pump was installed, it might be touching the side of your tank and viabrating > hence the noise... Probably does not go away, but the exhaust viabration and noise masks it... Any of that seem possible?
  10. My understanding of heat ranges with cars is that colder running plugs cope with higher temps and more grief then hotter plugs. The down side is that if you go too cold with the plug they can foul easily at idle, on the HWY, etc... Colder plugs are better for reving, hot engines??? (I am so going to get crucified for that). I know that when I put my cooper s on the track, I change the plugs down to a colder set and that gives me a more consistent and reliable spark then normal street plugs... But if I try and drive around the street on them they foul in 10 mins... Not sure what range would be too far for you Hamish... Sorry
  11. I have a TRUST Power Extreme 2 which is reasonably quiet, doesnt drone whatsoever and does have a real nice sound to it when on boost.... I also have a hi-fo cat and JJR split dump pipe.
  12. ME~! I have a S2 ecr33... I thought, jeez I can bump the pounds up and get more power.... Sure! Lasted 2 days at 14psi! Then both impellers disintergrated! Front wheel as well! My car is serviced every 5000km and everything is maintained in very good order and at the time have about 80,000km on the clock... Nevertheless, the turbo does not like it....
  13. rego sucks... I think we should all drive for free, free petrol, free maccas, free rego > you get the picture. I just paid 2 rego's in 1 week... I'm a poor SOB
  14. Sorry about no photos guys, I have them on my computer, and they be all black... and the ones where i got smart and turned the flash on, you can see maybe the head lights.... My camera sucks ass... Hopefully see you there friday night thomas
  15. I have seen thin cameras with lights on the end to do inspections before on tv shows...
  16. You may not NEED the extra fuel at the moment, but you will need it to get more power with a decent tune... The nice thing about a new fuel pump is thats it new... It gives you peace of mind knowing that it has a better chance of not dying, therefore killing your pride and joy... Fuel pumps can die, slow lingering deaths, slowing reducing the amount of petrol to your engine and therefore possibly damanging it at the same time... I have a walbro 500hp in tank pump. Not hard to fit, I use the standard pick up point and it doesnt make lots of noise... It didnt cost the earth either, coming in at i think 160 delivered... There are definately better pumps though, like the NISMO and TOMEI pumps, but they are circa $450+ delivered (are a direct fit though, with no mucking round)
  17. how much you chasingh for the injectors... would be very interested
  18. i love the old cars... I have a 1970 mini cooper s race car... its lowered off its nut, de-dumpered, big ass engine with exposed filters, catch cans, huge barrely muffled exhaust, 6 point race harness and race seat.... they leave me the hell alone... I love it... Only time i get pulled over is for old cops to tell me that they used to drive them in the HWY patrol. hahaha My skyline, dont get hassled to much, but i'm real careful... and we have the highway patrol located about 1km from my house
  19. Associate Consultant for the Aged Care Industry...
  20. i find that if your nice they generally dont give u too hard a time... maybe ask them a quesiton bout there HWY car... I did and it got me out a defect
  21. Both the PFC and EMU will enable you to retune after further modifications.
  22. You said it second hand PFCs are still $300-400 more expensive then a brand new plug in Emanage Ultimate. I'm not saying the PFCs are bad, they're a fantastic unit and very good for tuning, but they're getting expensive and old now... full stand alone units are great but require a crap load of work to put in... The EMU can be unplugged, which means the car returns to factory ecu settings, and put into your next pride and joy... Your completely right about the hand controller, a definate advantage of the PFC... That is one area that needs to be updated with the EMU... Apparently with the EM Blue you can you the Profec Eo1 to display info... Horses for courses... Both are great units, and if you look at what URAS says, and a couple of the other tuners, they'll tell you that both units can achieve the same results.
  23. if you find the 3 missing bits, maybe you dont need to replace the cooler. Other way to look at it, UPGRADE? do u have the original cooler or FMIC?
  24. I have used some tarox gear on my 1970 mini cooper s race car... Brings it to a dead stop really well... Then again the car weighs about 500kgs... Other advantage of having multipiston calipers is that it moves the clamping force closer to the edge of the disc, therefore has more leverage for stopping
