Lol - you think a car yard trying to sell you an import is going to rebuild an engine that is going to ast you a while considering you're on a tight budget. Lol... Take the advice of people who have been there an done that - walk away from it! Seriously, you dont sound too mechanically inclined or knowledgable so I would walk or run as fast as you can... Then again, buy it and we'll all have something to shake our heads at when you're back asking similar questions when it let goes in a couple of months time.

The factory lines will be reused as I am sticking with steel wheeled rebuilt standard turbos. I think out the bottom will be the go as I will have two people on it and have full workshop gear including hoist available...

I have been looking into a couple of options for seats. I would love to go with a VELO seat, but I cannot find a reclinable one (they're ADR approved). All the other comfy quality seats are not ADR approved - well at least none that I have found. I wouldnt mind some of the OMP seats, but again I run into ADR compliance issues. I dont want to drive around with an illegal seat in the car as it attracts enough attention - and luckily I havent had any issues with the boys in blue since owning the car.

Have you already bought this car? If you've only put a deposit down I would walk away at this point.

Thanks Mat. I'll have a chat to my mechanic. Luckily we'll be able to keep the car on the hoist for the whole time the engine is out.

Quick update: Due to the amount of driving I do I wanted a slightly more comfortable pew to park my fat ass on. I bought a pair of 32 gtst front seats and through the drivers in. Well, I am honetly uncertain if it is very comfortable - its hugely high compared to the gtr one. I think I'll be switching back to the gtr one soon. Engine out update - 11th october. Box and engine will be out and the upgrade done. box is going to get a freshen up to. Will post pics and mabe a diy for pulling the engine and box.

Its funny you know - I always looked at the engine in the car and went "The Japs were awesome to build this and fit it all in..." Now I look at it and curse! With my 70 Cooper S I can get the engine out in 20-30mins and 30-40 back in and running. This will be a nightmare comparitively. Swapsies?
