[Closed] Borg Warner Efr Series Turbos

Piggaz can sense the aura of MOOAAARRR -
Hey Methz, I was totally wracking my brain to remember who it was who tried... I couldn't find your post in the 280 odd pages. Thanks for chiming in. Do you have the graphs to support?
-
Stao sent me a banjo bolt to suit and I used my own kando lines (restrictors are in the banjo so staos non restricted banjo fixes that). Definitely make that standard procedure if it's feasible!
-
You didn't cut your toe did you? Was it back to front in the end?

How early man? It's a lot of turbo to have breathing that heavy, that early, on a 2.6. I can't picture your result here and now but I know its impressive. Remind me when it's making that sort of boost (1 bar).

6262 will struggle for 15psi by 4k RPM so if those are your only two options the choice is clear.

E100, Cause Of Failed Injectors?
GTScotT replied to nicksamaniac's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just going to chime in here and remind everyone that 98+ up to 5% ethanol was the old V-Power 100. 100 Ron E10 is not based on 98 and therefore the base petrol would most likely be of a lower, less refined, variant. Thus while the ethanol is a great solvent I am not sure if the fuel its mixed with is good enough not to cause deposits. Though using a couple of tanks is not enough to damage a set of injectors... What is more likely is what Scott has suggested, in that the ethanol picked up some sediments from the bottom of your patrol's fuel tank (likely to have been run on 91 all its life, refer to above) and which are now nicely embedded into your injectors. What I am unsure about in this process is if there is a point of no return for injectors... Or if they can always be cleaned and come good. I have owned a couple of CA18s and when their injectors are gone there is no turning back. Consumption is through the roof and getting them cleaned only seems to help normlise idle quality, a new set is required to get back the economy. Scott I know you do a little with injectors, your feedback will be valuable if any on the above. I would like to know. -
As FYI: I fitted another HDi SBC-R like mine last night, to an S15. Result was flawless. Wen't from 7psi creeping to 11psi (no boost control prior) to now holding 15psi from threshold to redline. Once again I am happy with this ebc.

Bottom them out and hand tighten slightly with an Allen key. It's a confusing topic for sure. I originally thought hand tighten was to wind them in by hand until they bottom out, but after many discussions I came to the above conclusion.

I reckon it's in the cam timing as my car does fine without the VCT, tbh I wouldn't change it. The delivery is aggressive and the motor breathes very well down low. BUT I don't think stao will want that, I believe he will want the VCT working to demonstrate the best response possible from his product. So I agree with by_rpm in that he needs to fix his VCT and dial the cams to correct position before proceeding. V28 I reckon it's something in your setup as the v2 should work great. Look at your vacuum line setup and your preload. If in Sydney and need a trained eye at a low price drop me a PM.

As fyi I have used a turbotech v1 on my SS1PU and was able to hold 20psi easy. I now use a hybrid ebc to great success, just the simple single stage version and it's great.

Full specs on page 162, don't be so lazy. -
Poor SR poor wallet.

Being the go to backyard performance mechanic of all my friends and their friends, friends, friends, brothers, cousins, friend, I do a lot of those ling long JJR dumps, and I haven't had an issue. You guys must be faaaaarking unlucky to get shit ones. No kidding.
-
That's interesting Stao, I believe my SS1PU SR has a better power curve than your SS1. I think Unigroup has a fairly harsh dyno and I am making 240kw, and we both do not have VCT. I wonder how you will find my older version SS1PU against the current SS1 on your car. Are you going to do back to back?

Hks Gt2835 Pro S With Kinugawa Exhaust Housing?
GTScotT replied to R31 POWER's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Am using one of these housings with a 3076R, and have seen another car using one with the same turbo. Performance is exactly as expected. Fantastic value for money... Much cheaper way of getting a v-band rear housing than buying garrett. -

The newer 7163 should be superior, both will support more than 400whp on E85. -
^ Neg, its an SS1. It's smaller than an SS1PU, the older SS1PU like ours has a 71mm comp wheel but the SS1 has a 63mm wheel. Both SS1 and SS1PU use the same turbine section however. The new SS1PU has a bigger turbine and a 74mm comp wheel.

^ Not constructive.. Or accurate. When someone does properly test one of these turbos - balls to the walls - then we can comment and say 'bcoz precision'. -

Plus, modern ethanol based fuels mean we get better access to the map anyway. Agree with Lith, is a lot of flow for a little compressor. For me I am believing it possible due to 57mm inducer and described 'aggressive' blade design in FR youtube vid. Aggressive design made possible by mixed flow turbine. I has faith. -

LOL I'll see what prices are like when I finish a couple of jobs I'm doing at the moment. Payment from those will fund the next changes... But they were meant to cut out rust and paint the car Ahhhhh the addiction of speed.. -

Looks Like Garrett Slipped Another Gtx30 Variant In .
GTScotT replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
From what I gather its just an interest build. I probed about what he would use the car for but most questions lead back to the same answer; the car is too clean to *race*. To me, he is building a car to have cake and have cake, response and power. Mick's motorsport have promised him response that is as questionable as the power, but time will tell. Mick's definitely use a roller, and recent results from people I know are in the league of normal.. IE 240-280 on TD06 SR20s, standard figures IMO. I've got him on the book of faces, so I will continue to probe and will report back as requested.
