Looks Like Garrett Slipped Another Gtx30 Variant In .
GTScotT replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
An odd chime in from me... I met a dude recently who told me he is building an SR22DET with a GTX2867, Tial flange and EWG. Full house build... He is on the JDMST page on FB but I don't know if he is public with his build.. He is getting the car tuned at Mick's motorsport and has apparently been promised 330rwkw from the setup. I am honestly REALLY unsure. If I hear anything else I will report accordingly.... Or if anyone wants to thought-blurt on the topic go ahead. He isn't a member here or hadn't even heard of this forum (lol). -
Reversed the car and caught the exhaust on something.. The fact it actually bent like that indicates the pipe was pretty hot when it made contact, and also that it was quite an impact. Indicates to me your car was doing burnouts, lost control and went backward over something that got caught on the exhaust. Let this be a note to anyone having a car moved by transport; you MUST have a 'mechanic' limit put in for such reasons. Something that drops the rev limit to 3,000 or similar. Or pull the AFM earth out of the plug. It will be too hard for them to work out and will make the car run in limp mode.
-
Lol did you know it was like that or found out after trying to tune? Looks like your car has had a big rear ender.
-
LOL @ SR circle jerk. I'M IN!!! Haha, last outing I destroyed my clutch and am since still waiting. Japanese tracking either says its on the ship or in the ocean somewhere, I guess we will find out in another 7 or so weeks lol.
-
Whats on it now? Tuners are always fond of pointing the finger at a turbo, even the best tuners I've used will do it. Maybe describe what you have (if its still on there) and we can give some pointers in relation to what it should be doing and where it may have gone wrong?
-
FKN LOL, missed that. What a dag! lol yeah more that I want to compare mine to this 260kw lag monster. Not that 117mph is crazy or anything haha
-
Stao go straight t the dags and see what it will trap See if you can beat my 117mph SS1PU lol

When will these become available? *prepares Mazworx V-band manifold* I knew I'd been saving this for a reason -

Are these going to be the Tial V-band? IE the Tial GT28-35 size V-band flange? -

Shit, I misread that. Wow. Such embarrassment. -

Where did you see that? I must be going blind -
Without creating a frenzy for building these cars an AWD NEO was sourced for 1,100 including all parts recently. I'll be helping a friend install it in the coming weeks. Car is an R32 GTS4 with a spun bearing. Motor came with all accessories, including loom, ecu, and even the OP6. Am encouraging him to sell the OP6 and replace with a HG 2IU off the bat. The only time I would encourage anything different would be if the car came with a working 20 or a partly finished 26 conversion. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. Though I should note I have NO ISSUES with a working RB20. I like them quite a lot. We are simply discussing broken RB20s and intentions to make one into an RB24. For which I don't agree with the dream of a cheap RB24. Its an untruth.

No suggestion it will at this stage. Giving reasonable thought to the topic would lead me to think twin scroll may be difficult on the mixed flow turbine, not without unequal/biased division. In my mind it is a open housing specific turbine. Am happy for BW to school me, though. It would only be even better I'm sure. -
Crank, pistons, rods, bore, hone, gaskets, build, etc etc etc etc.. Lots of money. But an RB25 from a Stagea can be had for under $1,500... And it will do your 200kw close to stock, plus is bolt in AWD. You made the comment prior that you will go RB26 later, why? I know disney makes it out to be awesome but its really not that great. All RBs have the same oil control issues, and an RB25 has VCT to make up for the RB26s ITBs. Be it myself I would only bother with an RB26 if it came in the car. My 2c.

lol I definitely think its a fitment and asthetic mod.. In which case I support it. Hell, I am going to rewire my entire car for sake of fitment and asthetics. I'd be mad not to use a FFP if it was to help in the same forum.
-
Not always useless, can help fit healthier sized motors Otherwise I am a stock plenum advocate, too. But he did mention it as part of his existing mods list, so I assume gtr jet is on the money.

Same. All my machines are on mobile theme and give the PM error. Gaids. -
This is incorrect. Per my prior instructions in order to achieve an optimal tune state a tuner needs to first run the car with minimal boost, tune it aggressively at that level, and then use that particular tune state to progress the tune onto higher boost. Only then can the car have a minimum boost of 16psi and be considered acceptable. But for the sake of tuning it is essential that low boost can be run.

Is it being implied that a bad 60ft will result in higher or lower trap speed? Also, not hating, but can anyone explain the allure to owning the most powerful anything, anywhere? Would just like to know the motive behind it, as its quite different from the fastest etc. Or is this more so the car is being built to a purpose and it just might happen to also be the most power, which is a lot more reasonable in my mind.. But building a motor to simply have it be the most powerful I can't understand.
-
Totally agree. I won't name names but I have definitely seen my share of what you just described. I will say though, DVS JEZ is totally honest in this respect and will do his best regardless of who built the car. He is by far the most honest tuner I have seen, so much so I'd be happy to work for him as a mechanic.

With a 50mm EWG I believe 380 is reasonable. Keep us updated. -
You will find most tuners DO NOT tune in that method. Majority of them won't bother resolving boost creep issues and will just tune with them. And the majority of us have cars with boost creep. It sucks because we are not to know if there is creep before we take it to the dyno, as we cant exactly boost an untuned car.
-
LOL all good. Per John's post a vast majority of tuners here keep a database of prior tuners, and when you rock up they will ask for injector and turbo size. You will specifically be asked what size your turbo is similar to if it is unheard of. A prior tune will be loaded, it will be tidied to reasonable parameters and will be onto power runs. Tunes take under an hour on cars that don't present issues. Fact.

Realistically; neither. While the power is in scope for the 64lb compressor it should be noted that a .92 AR housing is actually quite compact in divided form, and whilst the IWG on these is game changing its a tall order to ask 600whp from. Let's be Frank (because being Jason can get boring), if you want 400-420kw you would want to hope you picked a turbo with at least 450kw up its sleeve.. At the levels described you will want to know you are doing your damned best to ensure a good result, and relying on a likely undersized IWG is far from.
