Best Clutch For 400rwhp?
GTScotT replied to l0WRB's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The HHHDB is the same thing as the other 5 puk button but they use thicker straps. The straps are the springs that make it clamp shut. On my mates S13 it was a 1200kg clamp load, as apposed to an 800 or something that the HDB is. H stands for Heavy, D is Duty, B is button. Obviously HHH is tripple heavy duty, its one of the upgrades exedy offers. As stated, it was a good kit and has been running for 5 years in my mates S13, but its not exactly something you just drive around carelessly... It takes effort to drive. -
Best Clutch For 400rwhp?

The kit im reffering to is this one here mate: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Exedy-HD-Button-Clu...=item335a1e1529 I have had limited exposure to the extreme range tho, I have installed an extreme drift clutch into an S14... It turned out VERY well, 1300kg and very very easy to use. It was surprising. As I only installed it literally weeks ago, I cant honestly report on its durability BUT It was a 2nd hand kit I installed, tho I did know the car it came from fairly well. After some impartial discussion with jim berry Im actually leaning toward the extreme drift clutch for my RB. Its a combination of pressure plate and diaphram that do it, but its a bigger outlay. For the price, really cant fault the exedy mate. The sport tuff ones are a different range though, meant to be better but mixed results from me. Also, the said S13 in my previous post had a HHHDB kit, which is this kit on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-SKYLINE-R31-...=item4a9f83620e Alot heavier and harder to use but will hold more power. I would contact the seller to confirm it is a HHHDB kit and not just a HDB before purchasing tho. -

agreed. dispite the fact jim berry will tell you they are rubbish, i have never seen a regular pink cover exedy HD NOT do its job properly... get the early model R32 GTR one (its a lil heavier) 5 puk HD. Will be under 600 for sure. Also, member here has had a nismo coppermix twin in his car for about 10ks, swears by it ra ra ra... I launched it once..... first non drop launch it had ever done, short hard slip at 5000rpm. say whatever you like, I know what Im doing with a clutch, it STUNK. Definately wouldnt take many of those. Personally I buy a clutch to cop the hit and change it out more often so Im not replacing gearboxes and enginemounts every 2 weeks. The HD button isnt too heavy and if you use it right wont smash your gearbox to pieces, also more forgiving on a short slip launch than an organic. I put one of these said clutches in my NXR turbo 3 years ago, its still going.... who knows how many KS, how many 2nd gear slip launches... how many natio runs... how much half hour long beatings I gave it before I sold it to the noob that has it now. Still going, I see the car regularly, clutch is still holding. Same to be said about a friends S13 done in 2005. Its a consumable in my eyes, your choice. -
Wait, I want to know how that happened. How long did the motor run for before you found it like that? that looks more like detonation damage than it does valve damage. Here's what happened last time I saw a piston touch a valve: And I imagine if the piston was touching the head with the dome that the dome would have damage on it... but from the pic it doesnt seem to have much of a mark on it.. Also, if that was touching, it would have nuked itself within a few seconds of running.. more so that eating abit out of the piston crown. Would really like to hear more about how that happened.

the stock pipe is 2.5" afaik. better off you get a metal pipe made up as stated above, in 3" then paint it black if u want it to not stand out.
-
-9s are more efficient, therefore a better option.
-
Depending on if there is any special procedure in applying that paint or not you could in theory have any repairer do that to your car, provided you can obtain all the necessary materials from the US. As far as I am aware that is not something that has become mainstream in oz as yet. FYI, applying that would entail a respray of your vehicle. Waxing your existing paint regularly will help prevent scratches to significantly cheaper effect GL.

Fastest I clocked with the legacy as mentioned above on the tsukuba wet track was 1'16.753 its such a delicate challenge, even half throttle too early just opens the line right up. argh! good one tho

Being time dependent means it is heat dependent, meaning its an exhaust component before it is an intake component. If it were a split in your cooler hoses it would occur from word go. Although, I had this issue happen to me a long time ago on my fwd SR20. After it was driven for a while it would begin shrieking on boost like you wouldnt believe... and it would struggle to boost properly. The cause; turbo to manifold gasket. I wouldnt go ripping your turbos out without looking for evidence of carbon stain in that area first. GL

someone set the track and the car, ill take a nap and check for times
-
lol mad, i should turn it back on but im buggered nah no exhaust man, only HP mod is the na tune stage 1, but change the oil maybe and itl go up
-
iv got 391 on the m3 csl, run r3 tyres boys r3 will be the control tyre and those are fast times ur running with the DC5R, i cant break out of the 1'49s
-
lol up to you, i just ran a 1'42.389 with the csl and above mentioned mods if you want to set the challenge, specify track and rules and ill stick by em tracks like el cap with uneven surfaces really do it for me
-
You going to run the CSL on el cap? ive got it on but havent run a time yet lol ill run one and post it up
-
wait wait, why dont we do this: set a price and HP limit and build something completely custom LOL like 100k limit, no more than 350hp, R3, traction zero - any car any mods
-
lol u mean a bmw? what model and what mods, ill see what i can do, ill need to get money probably coz i dont do up alot of euro. edit: ok heres what ive got: M3 CSL - stage 1 na tune, semi race suspension, twin plate clutch, semi race flywheel, stage 2 weight reduction, race brakes breaks the rules, but if u want to build one to same spec we can use those on el cap, it goes around it well
-
strange that, the car hammers compared to mine and sticks alot better too. anyway, new track same cars? how about el captain?
-
tenfour, can you confirm what mods you are running? your car is SIGNIFICANTLY faster than mine, your gearing is different and you have an epic amount more grip. I think from here on in we need to set some rules if we are going to have some competitive fun. Here are my recommendations for rules: R3 tyres or less No weight reduction No increased stiffness No race brakes No brake balance controllers No gearbox No carbon prop shaft No added downforce No yaw or ACD controllers Unlimited HP mods but MUST state exact HP and mods No suspension kit limit No clutch, flywheel, LSD limit Traction/under/over set to zero Basically want to keep things as realistic as possible. If you guys agree we can have some fun.

keep in mind, -7s will bolt on and be similar to stock with the capability to run more boost later. meaning you can essentially keep your car as is for a while and keep on enjoying it for a big $$ fork out later when you want to tune it. if you go -5s, the same cannot be expected. it wont run great at low boost (or as a gtr should) and wont be safe to run at higher boost. you will need injectors and afms before you venture any further with it also, at a fairly large cost too. depending on your goals, turbo selection is crucial... you dont want to buy 440kw turbos when you want 320. you especially dont want to buy turbos that will do 440kw because the alternative would struggle to hit 320 and hey the big ones will do that easily.. thats not how efficiency works unfortunately lol.

Not the 34, but heres this: http://www.scribd.com/Nissan-Skyline-R33-e...anual/d/5332707 What your looking for is called a Supplement manual, I googled and found the above within 30s but could not find a neo supplement. Go for gold.
-
if the heads done well and u buy it all for a good price, cams are easily changed if their too big for you. my 2c.
-
wide open throttle =WOT
-
Correct, thank you. Didnt want to see more gospel, bosch site lists 200.
-
Most. on a serious note, did i read correctly an 044 does 7L/Min? Meaning 420L/hr?

fuji 2005 GT DC5R - 268HP Mods: Race exh, rom chip, stage 1 na tune, R3 tyres, race suspension, triple plate clutch, race flywheel NO OTHER MODS 1'50.739 first try would be willing to go that car round NUR if whoever else said they wanted to do FWD has one to similar spec, dont want to mod this car any further tho
