  1. Personally I think this is a very legit question, and see no reason for him to get flamed. Mate clearly your stock blow off is having some sort of issue, it shouldnt get any flutter. If you have any mates with another stock skyline you might want to try swap BOVs just to test. Alternatively make sure ur vac source is good and its not jammed etc, take it off and have a good look at everything.
  2. Congratulations Stao, those are truly amazing results. I find myself rather jealous
  3. this is not a stock bov is it? have you tried the stock bov on there? the return pipe size should not effect initial release unless its TINY. try a stock bov, maybe a better vacum source for the bov itself (a fat one off the plenum)
  4. twin disco's is a no go. there are bolt on replacements. as everyone is suggesting, get a pair of -9s and get them installed. they are a good upgrade over stock and will make an easy 300kw.
  5. thats a different thing all together. the back of the turbo where gas exits is actually tiny, nowhere near 3", so having a 2.5" pipe come off that and then open up to a 3" is actually not so bad. having a complete 3" would be better but not the end of the world nor perhaps even noticable on a stock turbo. with the 2.5" catback, it will hold back some power. the main contributor to power on a car sub 200kw is its dump and frontpipe. but keep in mind you would not want a harsh step down to a smaller diameter pipe from a bigger one, that creates big flow issues. AFAIK stock GTR exhaust systems have been used to 285rwkw
  6. ah k nice, so same threshold point and then what we would expect from a good upgrade. nice to know they work well.
  7. that curve is very nice for an rb20 mate, alot better than expected .63 3071 ftw
  8. this is the pickle i was in for so long, personally i dont like the results the garrett IW housings give. if i was going thru this again with an RB25, i would do one of two options: HKS 2835 or 3071 ex gate .63 rear. id send my housing to hypergear to have it moded and a gate added. im confident the ex gate 3071 option i just mentioned would be one really REALLY awesome option for an rb25, infact i wish i had done it myself (now going hks 3037 and rb30 to compensate) fun and games all around
  9. how far do they run ontop of eachother? i would hope an upgrade turbo would be far superior, not slightly. its hardly worth the outlay if until 5000rpm its as good as stock and from 5 up its making more power. one would hope that there is a significant gain from the point where power comes in and up, not just from where the stock turbo falls over.
  10. ur probably up for a full service mate. try changing ur spark plugs next time u do the oil, and clean ur AFMs with some electronics cleaner. o2 sensors are also only a 60k item, so in theory your car should be on its 3rd set. I personally would not advise reverting to retuning the ecu if its not running right to begin with. despite the conditions and tune differences the JDM ecus dont run that mega rich as a result.. you should be able to get it back to a reasonable state where the tune is only not 'optimum' but still good just by doing general maintenance. I recomend the above maintenance before you make any substantial changes to the car.
  11. those auction guys would have taken the soul out of that car... the buyer is guaranteed to find it full of mud and burnt rubber underneath. i wonder if it was my work that wrote it off LOL
  12. keen to see your results mate, dont forget to post em up
  13. how much laggier would you say it is than stock? give a description if you wouldnt mind
  14. when you did the build did you install oil restrictors? sounds like its typically pumping its sump up to the rocker covers
  15. In my garbage opinion. External gate, .63, will be fan f*cking tastic. Wait and see. GL
  16. on a stock turbo it would not effect it a great deal. im assuming a mean an aftermarket 2.5" dump which would still be a long way ahead of the OEM item. moving to bigger turbos, perhaps even a hiflow, you may find it to hold back SOME power. I do stress the word SOME, the tomei expreme dump for evos is only 2.5" ID and has been used to 300 all wheel kw and more without restriction.
  17. i think a disco, despite being a nice turbo, is too small for the 25.
  18. if you got your car tuned on a dyno it should be running good, first point of call i would consult the guy who tuned it. secondly it sounds like u need to read into how to use the AVCR a little as i think you have your gain/duty set wrong to help you achieve target boost properly.
  19. 13.5 and no radio.... cmon throw in a walky talky arleast for that sort of coin champ. p.s. u might want to consider getting a facia and a deck, not everyone would see the lulz behind ur roket panel GL
  20. lol see the things women make men do.... a life worth of car sold for 28k allbeit in 2009, for a deposit on a house probably 20x its value now that man is gone, never to own such a car again... while he could have saved 28k within months before taking his mortgage... he will never save the amount he poured into it now that he has that mortgage.. hey he could have even borrowed the extra.. at 20 odd dollars a week. let this awakening of an old and should be forgotten thread be a reminder to us all..... one does not simple ROCK into mordor. And women should be shown the door when attempting to take a man from his car. Only he with a 3 digit iq should find reason in such madness. THE END. lock before a female replies HURRY.
  21. typical 35r curve... as stated above, it sounds like there is a flow problem somewhere... particularly that you have added more boost only to have lost power. as reference, I once had an issue with the ID of a cat. The inner diameter of the cat was a total 3mm smaller than the frontpipe and no matter how much boost was wound into it, there was no hope of it making anywhere near its potential power. Once that issue was resolved (no longer a lip in the exhaust) the car went on to make above and beyond its projected output. that sort of thing could be in your cooler pipping, your cooler, your exhaust, your suction pipe etc if your serious about getting help where your tuner really should prevail, try and give us as much description as humanly possible about your setup. its every detail would be advisable.
  22. factory location? will this bolt up to an existing front pipe setup without drama on a 32R?
  23. on the topic of clutches, i know exedy make such a thing as an HHHD for cars like the SR20 silvia range, and i have been told by my local clutch place they could order an uprated clutch at $100 per uprate. I do know however the early model GTR clutch kit has a different PN but is almost identical, so im assuming that the difference is the clamp load, so question here is; are you guys talking about getting a HDB to suit an R32 GTR in place of a HHDB or HHHDB as it would be a similar clamp load? and does anyone know what sort of clamp load exedys HD GTR plate is? as for traction: I have a mate with a 260rwkw 32 GTR, with the awd turned off he still has full traction off the line with a fairly good launch.. I dont know why we struggle with the GTSTs so much... hes running 17x10 255/40 direzza dz101 all very interesting, i have been contemplating changing to a GTR mech LSD for the longer ratios (if it is the diff and not the box that makes them longer) as i think that could aid alot with traction, and seeing as my car will be soon running a 3037 and rb30 combo, that will probably turn out better anyway (as per my personal theory).
