[Closed] Borg Warner Efr Series Turbos
GTScotT replied to Lithium's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
An RB30DET sporting an R34 RB25DET NEO cylinder head. You get improved combusion chamber and port design, along with VCT and solid lifters. A pair of drop in cams will make for a formidable budget alternative to a high performance head. -
Thank god I didn't need to say this first... Mitch what state are you in? Take Mick for a wrap!

[Closed] Borg Warner Efr Series Turbos
GTScotT replied to Lithium's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
You can't beat a square engine Hence why I would love to see a well equipped NEO dirty 30. I may just have to build one -
Any idea what the inducer sizes are for the 73 and 76 HTA wheels? PT do a 5130 and 5430 which are 56.5mm GT30 cores. If the 51/54mm inducers match it would make a good comparison and price match difference.
-
Whoa thats a pretty good deal! Think I could argue that a 3073/6 is the market equivilant of a PT5558 or one of their GT30 breeds?
-
Only their custom made stuff though, isn't it? 2K is a fair bit more than the average DCBB Precision, but the FP journal bearing/custom items definitely go for a nice price. Obviously the price is higher on the FP30 due to the purchase of the Garrett core before they even begin construction.
-
LOL you referring to my manifold or that FP have T3 options? I am pretty happy with the performance and customer service I get from my hypergear, which may lead me to get another one for my next turbo We will see.
-
If you have a powerFC it will show on the handjob (hand commander), or it will show if you have the software for a nistune if thats what you run. If anyone has access to either of the above with the same turbo please let me know what reading they are getting at WOT in higher gears peak reading. Birds don't you run a PFC with your SS1PU?
-
No members with an SS1PU want to help out a member who does his best to help everyone he can?
-
lol who the hell built the engine with 1 less oil ring support rail? So fail.
-
lol neg. I was being cheeky and emailed to ask if they can provide their DSM Green with a T3 housing ($1,000 turbo), to which they tried to up-sell me an FP30 ($2,000 turbo). I am really just testing waters and want to know what is out there and at what cost. Obviously wanting to know what can be cross compatible too. I have a couple of things to build soon and am stockpiling thoughts and numbers in prep.
-
For anyone interested I sent an enquiry to FP re a 3073HTA: the current price with whatever housing you like is $1,999.00 USD plus shipping.
-
Can anyone with an SS1PU and a Z32 AFM please check their peak AFM voltage on WOT (preferably 3rd of 4th gear) ?? Stao if you can ask Trent for this that would be great also. Thanks,
-
God. I can hear the money burning by the hour. I hope it turns out well for you mate

Turbo Choice - 2 Litre Straight Six - Non Nissan
GTScotT replied to eightsixboy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
TD05H 16G6 is definitely your best budget oriented option. Make sure you port the WG flap or order a ported one from kando and you will be sweeeet. -
Stao is it possible to put any of those units on hold? I have a build coming soon which would be fantastic with one of those turbos.
-
Long hair no scare! EWG FTW! lol
-
Mick I'd say the 71HTA will flow 300kw The size would be 71mm compressor and 57mm turbine. Your GTX on the 33 was 71mm compressor and 60mm turbine, so its not majorly off! Given enough wastegate flow I think you will get there and have nonsensical response. It may be worthwhile in modifying the toxicfab mani to accept two 38mm gates
-
What part of that document do you want translated?
-
Stao make sure you post up results about the injectors too I believe they are a great injector and someone just needs to give the right feedback to prove it.
-
Yes it does, dude. If you roll back a few pages (between 260 and 270 IIRC?) you will find detailed discussion about those turbos. If you read the last 30 or 40 pages of that thread (OMG READ THAT MUCH?!?!?!?!) you will find all the known knowledge and theory this forum possess regarding that particular type of Kando turbo. Otherwise I can spoon feed you: "heeeeeerrreee comes the aaeeeroopplaaannneee opennn wiiiiideee", YES it will bolt on without modification. If you have a split dump you would want to change to a bell mouth just in case the divider doesn't fit as good as stock. Bell mouth are always better regardless. Please read and use the search function next time.

Catch 22 then, isn't it

"Unfortunately" the stuff is in poor supply in NSW. I kind of like being able to fill up when I need to, rather than have a car only capable of blasting around my own block and needing a trailer and jerry cans to go to wakefield (3 hours drive out of Sydney, where most of us live).
-
You need to remember Stao is not running the same turbo as you. You shouldn't be comparing what he got unless you are running the same turbo. In your case the turbo has a much smaller exhaust housing to give you the spool effect you are after. Staos turbo is running a larger housing which will help fend off detonation. In my own case 23psi was also the limit of 98. I was getting ping at that level.
