  1. very nice! HG turbos FTW!
  2. that farking sucks... so the bolt holes are only the beginning of the issues? the turbine ports dont gasket match either?
  3. You sure you want to give up on it? Simon got great results from his. I wonder if any of that is contributed to the ethanol tho.
  4. LIKE A BAWS!! You guys know how to handle your shiz. Mine kicks my arse for spending while were trying to save for a house, but I don't mind so much because I want the house too. Admittedly we don't earn a lot and living expenses are up there. Lucky to save $500 a fortnight so its all warranted. I have set out an agreement that money I earn working on dudes cars is my own personal cream I can use towards my own build. So its well sorted! She also well and truly understands the car is a vital element to maintaining my sanity. Got it sorted.
  5. LOL FK yeah! SAU - The ultimate mens support group! Honestly, imagine living without a constructive hobby like a modified car... What are you gonna do? Grow a garden? PLEASE.
  6. My car had numbers lower than 10. The tuner couldnt dial in more because the boost was too high straight off the actuator. If we had a lower pressure actuator it would have been a different story. Is this hitting any points with your setup? whats the lowest boost you can run and did your tuner go all out on the tune with low boost first? My understanding is the best way to tune works like this: Start with the lowest boost possible and most aggressive tune, slowly wind the boost in and soften the tune as you go. Rather than get fueling right then add boost and slowly add timing - doesnt work.
  7. Very low timing will result in excessive exhaust heat. It will cause the thing to run really hot, ping earlier than it should when trying to run more boost (capping power) and will also make it get on boost quicker. I have had a setup tuned like this and am speaking from experience. The car got on boost fine and when/where expected (if not earlier) but the power delivery wasnt right.
  8. pics are $50 lol just kidding, but thats cheap enough to buy it just in case yours is defective. thats not entirely unlikely..
  9. This. You will run out of injector before you run out of pump if you go this route.
  10. I would do brew but I dont eat chups aye
  11. Thats very nice! Theres always a point where you can have a faster car with a lower number, which is something im scared i may have overshot by going the SS1PU on my SR but we will see! Good to note that the unit is an all round good turbo though. Everyone who has one seems to be happy with it regardless of how much power they made (its only numbers anyway). Props to Stao yet again! What fuel Tony? Its starting to shape up nicely (ignore the fuel question coz you replied yourself before I hit send)
  12. You can get the housings separate, exhaust side is about 150 and intake is less. Mook it might be worth you just getting 2 housings and giving it a go. Assuming antisurge might be an issue and it might be an 8cm.
  13. Good to know Stao has done a nice job with the turbine side of things. I can't wait to have mine running How did it go on the VQ?
  14. Based on the spec of the thing it will lay close to 300. I'll give you a good deal on my WMI kit if you want to be the first to try. Not trying to be a viral sales kent.
  15. I responded to you on NS, DVS JEZ on here might have some input. Where he at
  16. Actual water meth (50/50ish mix) will get you results similar to E85 if implemented right.
  17. Admittedly I do not follow the supra forums and PJ you already know I've never used a JB PT. Dunno whats to be proven here, but you guys win already. I did plenty of reading myself when I was going to buy one and found plenty of posts like this saying 'get the BB' but hardly anyone actually having one fail in the past 3 years - I could be ignorant and not reading the right places so who knows. I'll just keep my mouth shut in future, no use trying to help people and share what you think you know when others are only going to shoot you down. Yay ball bearing party, lets all dance and clap.
  18. water cooling is to take heat away from the turbo, which is oil lubricated and cooled also. remembering the turbo gets hundred of degrees going through the back side which is bolted directly to the CHRA you want to get as much heat away from the rotating assembly as possible.
  19. I know there have been some failures in the past, but im sure thats old news. In general JB's have a longer lifespan than BB's and are overall not as delicate. The main thing I dont like about the PT BBs is that they arent water cooled. IMHO BB's should always be water cooled, too delicate to not.
  20. That I'm not sure about, but the JB CHRA will have the longer life span if anything. Nothing to worry about. No, no. Before my budget crisis I had a PT 5558 on order. Shit happened and I ended up selling my 6boobs etc and went factory low mount with the SS1PU. Nothing has changed, motor is mostly assembled (turbo attached now). Just need a new sump pan (mines rooted), rear main seal and ancillary water hoses then I'm bolting it in. Have taken a few pretty photos so once I get closer to results time I will make a thread of some sort. I prefer to lay low when I can and preserve identity but I do want to share the SS1PU SR experience.
  21. Was ur curve and boost plot similar to Stao's? Just the amount of energy shown different?
  22. According to Real Street Performance who have done a few they said the difference is negligible and steered me towards the JB. Email Trevor Harmon from RSP and tell him Jason referred you. He will definitely look after you.
  23. Theres less than 100cc between the two and it would make SFA difference. To my knowledge the 26 has a lower static CR which would make it spool slower if anything. Obviously no offence to the owner - his results are great, just stating the obvious.
  24. Didnt you say yours is a 25/26? What would make that more responsive? They definitely should push 300kw on pump. It has been discussed before and STATUS has confirmed 330 is do able. It can come down to the setup itself and the condition of the motor also. Sloppy valve springs or rings and it could push less power than others.. sometimes you would never know other than the down results.
  25. You may have just got yourself a little more win! Poncam bro's now woo
