  1. You are guessing about that. Another member said he got that same looking turbo, which im sure there arent 1000 different types of, and made 270kw (with all the supporting mods). If there was a cheap steel wheel stock replacement it would sell like hotcakes. That cheap turbo is not that.
  2. If there were an award for this you would have it in the bag. No competition. Be proud. Not many people are as special as you.
  3. you learn something every day lol
  4. so you just plugged it in with the existing harness ETC? have you hooked up the alternator earth and all the other earth straps? forgetting those can have that sort of effect if its the original harness, what did you do about VCT? just curious here.
  5. this thread is getting dumber and dumber. you cannot put a non standard turbo on the motor and just run it at stock boost. that is not how it works. proof? have a look at the dyno result thread. stock turbo on 14psi, 200kw (timebomb). Then look at a 3076 or something of that size, close to 300kw. How? but its the same boost? waa waa waa. If you dont understand what you are talking about, do not give such garbage advice. OP might just listen to you, whack on the ebay turbo which might just work fine and might last FOREVER and then will drive it around on his stock ECU and later wonder why he has fried a piston, done bearings or put a rod through the block. the answer will be because of tight ass stupidity and homosexual advice. OP if you want to buy a $150 ebay turbo GOOD FOR YOU. buy it. but if you want it to have even a snow balls chance in hell of surviving you will need to get a tune. Last time i checked Toshi was doing remaps for $550, im not sure if that has changed since then. In simple: non standard turbo = needs remap MINIMUM. no matter what it is. non standard turbo WITHOUT remap = blown motor guaranteed. You can find threads where ppl have put their new turbo on and blown the motor (untuned) within a couple of days. And as far as they were concerned they were driving under 'safe' conditions and werent thrashing it. Search and you will find. One that comes to mind was a dude who put a 240kw sized turbo on and needed to rebuild the entire motor a couple of days later. Only 40kw extra TOTAL power potential than the stock turbo, and he was running it at stock boost so it was probably also making less power than stock BUT IT STILL BLEW THE MOTOR, because thats how it works. Put it this way, ill be happy either way. You can take a knowing persons advice and save your motor and I will be happy to hear it, or you can take the monkeys advice and ill be just as happy to read you 'why did my motor die' thread in the next few weeks, with plenty of lols. It will be a hoot. Enjoy.
  6. there are two types of RB coils: ones that need an igniter (R32 & R33 series 1) and ones that have the igniter inbuild (R33 series 2 & R34) All RB coils can be bolted into other RB motors, and all RB coils can be wired in to work with the igniter/non igniter models with enough effort. Try to find the right ones and save yourself the headache.
  7. Nice work Tony! Results are shaping up nice. Try get that taper under control.
  8. On this note, it would be good to discuss the actual size of the turbo with him (wheel sizes). For example, I was a little undecided about my SS1PU until I discussed what the wheel sizes are. Once I knew how big it was I knew where to set my targets. In this case you may be expecting heaps more than it will have to give. I just checked his website and the turbo appears to be aimed at a very responsive 300kw (externally gated only). That tells me its possibly similar in size to the SS2 (60mm turbine 71mm compressor). Your on E85 so you should have lots more regardless (probably 330) but your missing LOTS of response and the power too, delivery doesnt sound right. Definitely something wrong, and its not just the wrong turbo.
  9. Its the same .82 housing everyone uses. Its not too small. I dont know the exact wheel dimensions but the thing was tested and did get a good result. I think he needs to get a second opinion on the tune. I have used Toshi.. Even if he found the problem understanding his Japlish would be a different story (no racism - am a wog marrying an asian).
  10. I honestly don't think the SS3 is the problem mate. I won't even get into T67 vs 35R
  11. when does it suddenly kick in?
  12. that doesnt sound right.. you describe it at really simple which should work in theory. Whats done to the motor itself? Whats changed (other than turbo side) since the last time it made decent power? I dont think the turbo side could be slowing it down, other than exhaust but that sounds pretty sweet.. If its all 3" straight anyway. So that leaves a crappy intercooler, intake restrictions or possible mechanical issues with the motor. Need to consider changes the most, like I said..
  13. Lol talking about skylines on skylines Australia is invalid? Not last time I checked but if u mean there are a lot of wanker skyline owners your not wrong lol they have mellowed out in recent years but you still get the odd 'what turbo can I slap on my car' thread lol
  14. Wanker ratio is too high on bikes. Your post is invalid.
  15. Same, same. When you can't win at cars, buy a bike and become traffic light GP champion.
  16. ^ Exactly. $450 forged pistons = $3,500 mostly assembled motor (me - almost there now). $900 turbo upgrade = $5,000 running on the car (all of us at some point). It's never what it seems, and you should ALWAYS put pen to paper before you do ANYTHING.
  17. Why not just carry a 15L jerry of e100 and pop that in on every fill from empty, then 30L of 98. Simon blends his E85 50/50 with 98, dubs it e42.5 lol. So its far from impossible or necessary to run big e content.
  18. You will not be able to run anything but a stock turbo unless you tune it. the bare bones minimum will be about 1700. That will include sending your stock turbo to hypergear and getting it highflowed, then having your ecu remapped by toshi. with that you will be lucky to scrape in at 200-220kw. If u want more u will need the rest of the bells and whistles. No remap = blown motor. Your choice. Whack on an eBay turbo and watch it all blow up in your face or actually face the music with the commitment you made buying a 20yo performance car.
  19. As much as this is the FI section you have to agree this is where all the mech heads hang out.. nobody goes to the NA section to talk about building motors etc. That section is all about who has the best looking slow skyline. a video thread is definitely cool.. like the dyno thread. This turbo setup will make you lol this hard. I like the idea.
  20. Good work Trev! I knew cams would be out! Can u please share the secret to dialing these? Ive just finished assembling my SR and need to do some dialeroo
  21. turbine is slightly larger trim than a GT30, compressor is same as SS1PU. Which is a lightweight billet 71mm wheel.
  22. Loll I didn't change my mind in the span of a couple of posts I see you edited your post now also haha. All good, I'm sure whatever you decide will be awesome.
  23. custom spec 71mm compressor, which should spool as good as a 52 trim but make more power than a 56. turbine is similar to a GT28 but slightly enlarged. Combats choke and surge experienced on an actual 2871/GTRS. in essence our cries were heard that we wanted a GTRS competitor. Stao went one better an SS2 is the same compressor on an enlarged GT30 style rear wheel. So a hyper 3071. I hope I was allowed to share this data
  24. 6262 now a 6266 or 6466 make up your mind son lol
