There are 2 ways to do the oil feed for that turbo. 1: A standard 2 bolt T3/T4 fitting like what Ron has bought 2: use a 1/8 NPT male to -4AN male adapter and then the same kit Ron bought but with the 2 bolt flange removed. The 90 degree fitting at the end of the line is -4AN. The difference between options is $10 worth of alloy NPT adapter... HOWEVER I have found those NPT fittings to be quite soft and I wouldnt want shrapnel in Rons motor at the hands of an overzealous first timer. So option 1 it was!

The Hypergear G3 is similar in size but has a larger exducer (turbine trim is slightly larger). I would pick the G3. I would say the support is also better on the G3, as if it doesnt work Stao will not charge you an arm and a leg to make changes to suit your setup. You can also use an off the shelf RB25 dump as the G3 comes with an adaptor to suit. The 3076 will need a custom dump which will set you back a few hundred at least, let along the hundreds extra you need to pay for the garret in IWG. Also, I have found the 3076 BB CHRA to be a little delicate... I overheated one by running an undersized housing and nuked the bearing cage. It lasted less than a couple of thousand KM. Other members have also gone through garrett BB CHRAs like undies probably due to similar reasons. The HG is a journal bearing setup which is more robust. Like I said if you pick the wrong housing for a HG (like got a IWG and realised you should get an EWG) Stao will let you return the turbo and pay a nominal fee to have it re worked.. Where as Garrett will simply send you the $700 bill for a new housing and your on your own. If you traul the HG thread you will also see videos of an R33 with RB25/30 and a G3 smashing a 600cc sports bike. Enjoy.

Kando says the part number for the RB25 line is 2000-930-821 so RB25 and 1JZ probably have the same oil feed thread pattern. No big deal. But WOW what a way to get shut down LOL. ra ra ra he wont reply, ZING its at your door in 3 business days hahaha. Quality item for $41 delivered. Winning!

MM. I also think its weird that it surges. Its 300kw worth of turbo with more turbine than a GT30, so with the .82 it really shouldnt surge. Something could be out? Has the VCT cam timing been adjusted with a cam gauge? Im sure that the rebuild has changed the deck height somewhat and might have resulted in the belt being in a SLIGHTLY different position.

my dad put a big concrete slab in the front yard which is nicely painted grey. so i cant work out there no more. doomed to being a back yarder, bloody wogs.

START?!

Lol hey I'm a back yarder!

I sold my DE+T setup to a dude with this bright orange S14 and installed it for him as part of the deal. It left me running smooth but not liking boost too much due to rat shit battery terminals and holes in his cooler pipes. I told him to fix the battery and leaks then come back so I can set the timing as his crappy voltage meant I couldnt get the timing to lock. I also investigated why his heater wouldnt work, and found it to be that his core had been looped. I told him I assume this was due to the core leaking and recommended he doesnt reconnect it. Brings it back a week later with the problems 'fixed' and its running like a total bag of shit. Heater has been reconnected and suddenly the water pump is pissing out fluid (assume it got debris from the reconnected heater core in it and rooted a seal). Not a drop of coolant in the radiator either. Cooler pipe has duct tape covering the holes and the afm has been pieced back together with gasket goo. I do my best to look for possible issues and problems but it still runs like ass. in the end I also felt like I was mostly being blamed -_-. Point of the story, prior to me selling that motor it was only 45ks old and ran faultlessly. One little overheat and its turned into a pig. I hope you havent done too much damage Roy your little RB has been heroic over the years.

lol i didnt think wasteland counted. epic.

Artz... Your post count... its over NINE THHOUUUSSSAAAAAANNNNDDD!!! when did that happen lol

your 20 finally on its way? I don't believe lol sounds like I need to move to Vic.. i can't find anyone just flat out keen for a track day here. It's shit as.

Lets just say Tomei HAD their tooling done in japan and now its done it China (assumption for those who are worried). Theres a machine shop that makes the part, and there are engineers who run the shop and make/QA the parts. What farking difference does it make what country its done in? Same tooling, same product, same quality, SAME thing. Think about this, an engineer in Aus gets paid upward of 100k.. An engineer in China would get paid less than half that, but would probably be richer than the Aussie. Thats called economics. Less on tax, less on shipping, less on wages, less on rent, less getting things through customs. Less less less but same product. Let it go.

Calm down Ron lol you can't expect to pay 40 for a braided line and all the fittings in that quality and have it teleport to you lol. its beam me up Scotty, not beam me an oil line Eiji.

I don't think anyone credible has ever said it CANNOT hold over 300. I do believe that it has been said it can be used for up to 300kw applications. I think thats a reasonable comment. Reasons: Above 300kw there would definitely be markable gains from a quality manifold. E85 is a game changer because it makes for a cooler burn (alcohol) and therefore counteracts the restriction of the stock manifold to a certain degree.

GTX3071R on E85, 26psi making 335rwkw tuned by Unigroup. No BS. Belongs to Mick_O.
-
OP crack the housings off and take proper measurements, you can then work out what youve got from there. They dont sound like a good 300kw application to me. Being a GTR you really want to do it once and do it right. You would hate to need to do the job of installing them twice let alone the cost of a wasted tune if they arent as great as you hope.

Nice to know the Kando actuators work well. Is yours the CNC item jet2nv? I have one of those at home waiting to go on a mates car. I also noticed it had provision for 2 ports.. I dont actually know how to hook that up yet but i might look into it for my own car.

lol I prefer not to knowingly smash important parts... Like gearboxes lol

Love the sandals stao, great oh&s lol

Seeing as stao makes his based on the OEM gasket I'd say the JJR dumps have started slipping in quality. Usually the machinery needs to be renewed and replaced every so often to keep the standard the same. That sort of thing is a secondary priority to a cheap offshore supplier.

Connect 4! Re question of what for on a stock turbo: I imagine OP doesnt want to make it spool harder on take off, its more as a launch control function. I used this on my old Evo 4 and it was amazingly good.

Rule of thumb for modding a basic skyline: 300+ rwkw = quality highmount and external gate turbo 250-300rwkw = Stock Manifold + Hypergear SS2/G3, GT30 IWG OR external gate plumbed off manifold and can use any option for this one like HG, Kando, Garrett, Precision. 250kwish = Stock manifold + highflow or HG SS1PU (highflow for stock appearance, SS1PU for a more unrestricted outcome at the expense of a slightly more obvious upgrade) FYI most of the sub 300kw options from Hypergear will not require a substantial amount of work to have them fit as he machined the rear housing to fit the stock dump pattern. Most cost effective fast skyline would sport a hypergear SS2 and mostly off the shelf parts, my personal opinion.

Blowing the gasket is common on all turbo cars mate they just die after a period of time and yours is probably 15yo stock. IMHO Your mechanic is seriously sucking cash out of you for nothing. There is surely a negligable benefit to upgrading the manifold on a stock turbo, and its going to incur more heartache than not as its sure not to fit the same. Only consider this option if you WANT to stay lowmount in the long run and DO intend to upgrade the turbo. If you dont mind the idea of a highmount then this is a useless exercise as its a lot easier and less labour intensive to mount and make the required changes to accomodate than if the low mount isnt a Perfect Fit. I hope Ive been clear enough, Im a little pressed for time. And I interpreted Ray as Ray charles (blind) rather than OP blind error on name vs location LMAO.
